It depends which version you mean. For the Nintendo Switch rereleases, Nintendo says you’ll be able to receive a special Celebi as a Pokémon HOME Mystery Gift after completing that game’s Pokédex in HOME, starting in October 2026. This is a reward in HOME—not a confirmed in-game encounter or a way to add Celebi to an original Game Boy Advance save.
What the official Celebi route is for the Switch rereleases
Nintendo’s U.S. product listing says that Pokémon HOME connectivity for the Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen begins in October 2026. It says players who complete the corresponding game’s Pokédex in Pokémon HOME can receive a special Celebi as a Mystery Gift. The same offer is stated for both games. - Play the Switch rerelease of Pokémon FireRed or Pokémon LeafGreen.
- Once the announced HOME connectivity is available, use it with the game.
- Complete that game’s Pokédex in Pokémon HOME.
- Claim Celebi as a Mystery Gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME, as Nintendo’s listing specifies.
These are the announced conditions and broad steps, not a live, fully documented procedure. Nintendo gives October 2026 as the start window but has not specified the rollout day, exact HOME menus, whether completion means registering every Pokémon as caught, or any other detailed eligibility rules. Check Nintendo’s listing and official instructions when the feature launches.
Can you catch Celebi in the original GBA games?
The announced Switch reward does not describe an encounter inside the game. It is received in Pokémon HOME. For an original GBA cartridge, a current official route that delivers Celebi directly into a FireRed or LeafGreen save has not been verified; that is not proof that no historical or niche distribution ever existed.

Nintendo’s compatibility list for Poké Transporter and Pokémon Bank does not include the original GBA versions of FireRed or LeafGreen as supported source games. Nintendo’s compatibility list Accordingly, do not treat Bank, Poké Transporter, or the Switch HOME reward as a documented way to put Celebi into an original cartridge.
Can the HOME Celebi be transferred back into FireRed or LeafGreen?
Nintendo’s Switch announcement says Celebi is received as a Pokémon HOME Mystery Gift. It does not say that the reward can be transferred back into the Switch game, and it does not describe any route into an original GBA save. Nintendo separately notes that Pokémon moved from Bank to HOME cannot be returned to Bank or used with Nintendo 3DS titles; that transfer guidance does not establish backward transfer into a GBA game. Nintendo has announced that Pokémon Bank will end service on February 25, 2027. After that date, transfers from Bank to Pokémon HOME will no longer be possible. Nintendo’s Bank end-of-service notice This deadline concerns Bank-to-HOME transfers; it does not create a transfer route from an original FireRed or LeafGreen cartridge, nor does it change where the announced Switch Celebi reward is received.
