Steam currently lists 31 achievements for How to Fish, not 28. The 28-achievement count is outdated: the September 28, 2026 Islet Update added achievements, including Bilingual, Money in a bottle, and Hobin Rood. This guide uses the live Steam list and groups its goals by progression, combat and upgrades, and collection or endgame challenges. Check the current Steam achievement list for any later changes.
How to get all achievements in How to Fish
The achievements span story progress, quests, equipment, combat feats, collection, and timed or unusual challenges. Steam confirms that the game supports single-player and online co-op, but it does not state how achievement credit works in multiplayer. These goals are tied to early actions, island activities, quests, and finishing the game. Steam’s official conditions are listed below.

The game’s Steam description presents island progression through quests and bosses, alongside catching, killing, and selling creatures. Completing the story does not by itself fulfill the separate collection and challenge conditions in the achievement list. Steam’s game listing describes the game and supported modes.
Upgrades, combat, and interaction achievements
These require particular equipment, combat outcomes, or interactions with the game world. A kill or upgrade only counts when it meets the named condition.

Collection and endgame challenges
These goals are distinct from ordinary story progress and may call for focused cleanup or a dedicated attempt.

| Fishipedia | Find and kill all drip creatures. |
| Bean | Finish the game within 1 hour. |
Collector, Fishipedia, and Drip are three different goals: Collector covers all creatures, Fishipedia covers all drip creatures, and Drip requires killing one drip creature. Do not assume that earning one completes either of the others.
Bean and Handyman also demand different runs or combat conditions: one imposes a one-hour game-completion limit, while the other specifies how to defeat the final boss.
What to know before attempting the timed achievement
A Steam Community walkthrough by Charlie Pork is labeled outdated and says it was completed on version 1.0.4. Its note says the old Bean shortcut was patched and that prices and mechanics were not re-tested. Treat its route as historical context, not a verified method for the current game. The current official list establishes Bean’s condition—finish the game within one hour—but does not provide a route or a current completion-time benchmark. The walkthrough’s 5–20-hour estimate is one player’s estimate for version 1.0.4, not an official or current completion-time statistic.
Why the list says 31 instead of 28
Dazed Games announced the Islet Update on September 28, 2026. The update added content including mini-islands, creatures, a mini-boss, items, bait, an NPC, achievements, and an outfit. The live Steam achievement page now lists 31 entries, including Bilingual, Money in a bottle, and Hobin Rood, which are absent from the earlier 28-achievement framing. Steam also displays global unlock percentages on its achievement page. Those figures change as players unlock achievements; they are not stable difficulty ratings.
