Start with the official website of the ministry, department, regulator, recruitment board or state agency that publishes the notice. Alerts are site-specific: check that site’s notice page, help pages and footer for an RSS feed or email subscription. If it offers RSS, add the feed to a reader and enable notifications. If no official alert covers the notices you need, a page-change monitor can be a fallback—but verify that it handles the page and any linked PDFs, and confirm important updates on the agency’s official site.
1. Find the official page that owns the notice
First identify the agency responsible for the notice, then bookmark its official notice, recruitment, circulars or announcements page. Central, state, district and local services are spread across different government websites; there is no established single alert switch that covers every agency and notice.

Use the agency’s own site to confirm a notice before acting on it. Portal routes and navigation can change, so check that an old bookmark still leads to the current official page. An older government services portal, for example, announced a migration to the National Portal of India and a planned discontinuation date in 2026; that illustrates why it is worth verifying the destination rather than relying on a saved link indefinitely.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Check for an official RSS feed
Find and verify the right feed
- On the notice page and in the site’s footer or help section, look for “RSS,” “Feed” or an RSS icon.
- Open the feed link and check that its entries include the notice category you want—not merely general news or press releases.
- Add the feed address to an RSS reader. Turn on reader notifications if that feature is available.
- Check the feed again after a new notice is posted, if possible, to confirm that it is updating as expected.
RSS is useful because a reader can collect updates from a feed in one place. NICSI’s help page gives an official example: it describes a static RSS XML feed for machine-readable summaries of key portal updates and says users can subscribe with feed-reader software or web-based RSS readers. That example explains the workflow; it does not establish that every government website, or every notice list on a site, has a feed.

Government website guidelines say news and press releases should be published in RSS format. Treat that as guidance for those content categories, not proof that a specific agency complies or that its feed includes recruitment notices, tenders, circulars or every other notice type.
3. Check what an email subscription actually covers
If the agency or portal offers an email subscription, read its description before relying on it. Confirm whether it covers the particular notice category or page you follow, and look for any stated delivery frequency or filtering options. Subscribe through the official site, and keep the original notice page bookmarked so you can verify the source document.

The National Portal of India has a newsletter form that requests an email address and CAPTCHA and provides unsubscribe instructions. Its scope is updates, news and offers from that portal; it does not promise an alert whenever another government agency adds or edits a notice. A newsletter is useful only to the extent that its stated coverage matches what you need.

For Gazette notifications, use the official e-Gazette of India publication site rather than assuming a general agency newsletter will notify you. A Press Information Bureau release dated 29 October 2015 said Gazette notifications would be exclusively e-published from 1 October 2015 on the official e-Gazette site and could be downloaded free. That release establishes the publication route; it does not document an email or push-alert feature. Check e-Gazette directly for its current search and notification options.

5. Use a page-change monitor only as a fallback
If the agency does not offer an alert that covers the page you need, a third-party web-change monitor may help detect changes. It is not an official government notification channel, and this guide does not endorse a particular monitor. Before relying on one, check:
- Page support: Can it read the site’s dynamic content, or does it only see the initial page load?
- PDF handling: Does it detect changes in linked PDFs, or only changes to the listing page? A new PDF may appear behind an unchanged link or filename.
- Signal quality: Can you monitor meaningful text or a specific region to reduce alerts caused by rotating banners, timestamps or layout changes?
- Delivery: What alert channels and delays does the service state, and can you filter or control notification frequency?
- Privacy, access and cost: Review its data settings, any charges, and the agency site’s terms or access restrictions.
After setting up a monitor, test whether it notices a real listing or document change where practical. Treat an alert as a prompt to inspect the agency’s official page, not as proof that a notice is genuine or complete. For deadlines, manually confirm the notice and its linked document on the official site.

6. Troubleshoot missing or noisy alerts
- The feed has no relevant notices: It may cover only general news or press releases. Recheck the feed’s scope and look for a notice-specific feed or official email subscription.
- The reader shows no new entries: Check the feed URL, refresh or re-add it, and compare the reader with the agency’s notice page. Do not assume that an apparently valid feed includes every update.
- An email newsletter is quiet: Check its stated subject matter and frequency, and confirm that the address and subscription are active. It may not cover notices from another agency.
- A page monitor reports too many changes: Narrow monitoring to the notice list or relevant text if the service allows it; repeated page elements can trigger noise.
- A monitor misses a PDF notice: Confirm whether it monitors linked documents, then check the agency listing and document directly. Do not rely on a page-only monitor for PDF changes unless that capability is established.
- A bookmarked page redirects or disappears: Navigate from the agency’s current official homepage or notice section and update the bookmark.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo can capture a webpage on demand, but it is a screenshot API—not a government alert subscription or page-change monitor. It can help you retrieve a visual snapshot; it does not notify you when a notice changes. The one-call request below targets an agency notice page. Replace the URL with the official page you want to capture, and use your own API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.
