A VPN server in Moscow can give websites a Russian exit IP, but that alone does not prove that geolocation databases will label it as Moscow or that a specific site will let you in. The available evidence does not identify the eight sites, VPN provider, endpoint, or outcomes behind a test described as “Moscow Servers Tested on 8 Sites,” so those results cannot be responsibly reported here.
What a Russian VPN IP does
When you connect through a VPN endpoint in Russia, your traffic reaches websites through that server, and they generally see its public IP address as the connection’s exit address rather than your own. VPN providers describe Moscow or other Russian endpoints for location-dependent services, but an advertised location is not independent proof of a server’s physical location or of successful access to any particular service. Providers describe possible uses such as checking localized search results, content, or advertising. Those are stated use cases, not evidence that a particular site will show a particular result from every Russian IP. Windscribe

IP geolocation databases make their own country and city assignments; they do not provide a universal ground truth. ProxysVPN reports that three databases it checked place its own endpoint in Moscow, while cautioning that services such as Google may classify an exit differently. That is a provider’s report about its address, not a guarantee for other VPN endpoints or databases. ProxysVPN

The Russian National Coordination Center provides an IP lookup interface, but the available information does not establish its methodology or show a lookup result for the endpoint in question. Why a site may still reject the connection
Even when an address is assigned to Russia, the destination site can apply its own location checks, account rules, or VPN blocking. ProxysVPN says banks and Gosuslugi perform their own checks; NvoVPN says major banks may restrict VPN logins. These are provider descriptions rather than a guarantee about every bank or session. The eight-site test results cannot be reconstructed from the available sources: they do not name the test’s VPN provider, endpoint, site list, test conditions, or observed outcomes. NvoVPN separately lists Gosuslugi, the tax service, Kinopoisk, VK, Rutube, Dzen, Ozon, and Yandex Market as sites tested on its own servers. - Endpoint identity: Which VPN provider and endpoint label were used, and on what date?
- Location evidence: What country and city did more than one IP lookup report? Record disagreements instead of choosing one result.
- Site outcome: Did the page load, was login accepted, was expected content visible, or did the site explicitly deny VPN access? These are different outcomes.
- Test conditions: Record the tester’s country and network, device, browser, VPN protocol, and whether cookies or a signed-in account affected the result.
- Repeatability: Repeat observations at stated times; site behavior and IP reputation can change.
How to check your own connection
- Connect to the VPN’s Russian or Moscow endpoint, if one is currently available in its app.
- Check the exit IP with more than one geolocation lookup and note each reported country and city. Treat disagreement as a real result, not something to average away.
- Open the specific site you care about and record separately whether it loads, accepts your account login, displays the expected location-dependent content, or shows an access-denied message.
- If the outcome matters, repeat the check later and document the date, endpoint, device, browser, and network so the result is tied to its conditions.
