How to Generate Website Thumbnails in Bulk with Screenshot.rocks

Screenshot.rocks’ public capture workflow is URL-by-URL. Here’s how to create a consistent small set and what to verify before automating a larger batch.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Screenshot.rocks’ documented website-capture workflow handles URLs one at a time, not as a documented bulk job. For a small batch, repeat the capture and export steps while keeping the styling consistent. For a large list, use a separately verified batch-capable tool or browser automation; do not assume that a batch API belongs to Screenshot.rocks.

Can Screenshot.rocks capture multiple URLs at once?

The public Screenshot.rocks instructions describe entering a URL, choosing desktop or mobile, pressing Capture, styling the result, and exporting it. They do not document a URL-list upload, batch endpoint, or bulk export flow. That is a statement about the reviewed public instructions, not proof that no private or newly released capability exists. If a batch feature is essential, confirm its availability directly with Screenshot.rocks.

For a handful of sites, you can repeat its URL-by-URL workflow. For a long list that must run automatically, choose a separately verified batch screenshot API or browser automation process.

Make a small batch consistent with Screenshot.rocks

  1. Prepare the list. Deduplicate URLs and decide whether each site needs a desktop capture, a mobile capture, or both. Set a naming convention for the exported files before you start.
  2. Capture each URL. Open Screenshot.rocks’ website capture, enter one address, select Mobile if needed, and press Capture. The online capture represents the first screen of the page.
  3. Reuse the same visual settings. Keep the viewport, frame style, background, canvas ratio and dimensions consistent for every thumbnail. The editor supports PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG export, and custom canvas sizing up to 2300 pixels.
  4. Export and check the result. Save each capture using the naming convention you chose. Review the files for missing content, unexpected layouts or failed captures rather than assuming every URL rendered successfully.

Documented viewport sizes

Screenshot.rocks describes a desktop capture using a 1440 × 800 CSS-pixel viewport and 2× density, producing a 2880 × 1600-pixel image. Its mobile online capture uses a 375 × 812-point iPhone X-sized viewport at 3× density, producing 1125 × 2436 pixels. These are the published capture dimensions; the product pages do not state a publication date for them.

When to switch to batch automation

If manually repeating a capture is too slow, evaluate a batch API or browser automation setup independently of Screenshot.rocks. One separate screenshot API documentation page describes a POST endpoint that accepts multiple URLs. That establishes that the endpoint is documented; it does not establish its commercial limits, pricing, data retention, privacy terms or suitability for your workload. Verify those details before sending it a list.

Compare candidate workflows on the points that affect your job:

  • Maximum URLs per request, rate limits and concurrency.
  • First-screen versus full-page rendering.
  • Desktop and mobile viewport controls.
  • Whether it can reach authenticated pages or local addresses.
  • Retry behavior and clear reporting for failed captures.
  • Supported file formats, image dimensions and output naming.
  • Where files and submitted URLs are stored, and for how long.
  • Privacy terms, pricing and usage quotas.

A batch endpoint alone does not answer these questions. Confirm each relevant limit with the service provider and test a small sample before processing a large list.

Know what the online capture can and cannot render

First screen, not the full scrolling page

Screenshot.rocks’ online website capture produces the first screen rather than a full-page screenshot. If you need the full length of a page, its guide points to browser-native capture options in Chrome DevTools, Firefox, Edge and Safari Web Inspector.

Login-protected, local and automation-blocked pages

Server-side URL capture may not work for pages that require a login, addresses such as localhost, or sites that block automated browsers. For a logged-in page, Screenshot.rocks’ browser extension captures the visible current tab from your browser session. It does not capture the entire page. For local or blocked content, use a capture path that has access to the page, such as your own browser, or take a screenshot manually and bring it into the editor.

Mobile capture scope

The mobile online workflow uses the published iPhone X-sized viewport and captures the first screen, not the full page. A mobile thumbnail therefore should not be treated as a full-page mobile preview.

Privacy: editor work and URL capture are different

Screenshot.rocks says images handled in its editor are processed in the browser and are not uploaded. Website URL capture is a separate path: the URL is sent to its server for rendering. The product page says the screenshot is not stored on the server. Do not infer that every step of URL capture happens locally; check the product’s current privacy information if your URLs or page contents are sensitive.

Or skip the browser setup

For a repeatable capture from code, ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API. This one-call example requests a WebP image; replace the URL with the page you need and use your own API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request parameters and response details.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and each response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Troubleshoot failed or inconsistent thumbnails

  • The capture fails or looks incomplete: Check for a mistyped URL, a slow page or a site that blocks automated browsers. Retry a failed URL and review its result before counting it as complete.
  • The page needs a login: Server-side URL capture may not have your session. Use the Screenshot.rocks browser extension on the visible logged-in tab, or capture in a browser where you are authenticated.
  • The address is local: Screenshot.rocks’ online server cannot access addresses such as localhost. Capture it from a browser with access to the local page.
  • You need the entire page: The online capture is first-screen only. Use a browser-native full-page capture option rather than assuming a mobile viewport or editor canvas will capture the scroll length.
  • The batch looks visually uneven: Recheck viewport, framing, canvas dimensions, background and export format across the set. In a manual workflow, apply the same choices to every URL.
  • A separate batch API fails on some URLs: Inspect its failure reporting and retry rules, and verify its request, rate and concurrency limits with its documentation or provider before increasing the batch size.

FAQ

Does Screenshot.rocks have a bulk URL upload?

The reviewed public instructions do not document one. Ask Screenshot.rocks if you need confirmation about a newer or private feature.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can the Screenshot.rocks extension capture a logged-in page?

It captures the visible current browser tab, so it can work with logged-in pages available in that browser session. It does not capture the entire page.

Are editor images uploaded to Screenshot.rocks?

Screenshot.rocks says editor images are processed in the browser and not uploaded. That is distinct from URL capture, which sends the URL to its server for rendering.
