To switch lessons by time of day while keeping one stream running, an external playout or encoder workflow must select the lesson and send the resulting feed to YouTube. If separate watch pages and start times are acceptable, schedule individual live events in YouTube instead.
One continuous stream or separate scheduled lessons?
| What you need | Workflow | What viewers get |
|---|---|---|
| One persistent live stream with lessons changing on a timetable | An external playout/encoder workflow selects the lesson and sends a continuous feed to YouTube using its server URL and stream key. | One ongoing stream; lesson switching happens in the outgoing feed, not through YouTube’s documented event scheduler. |
| Each lesson to have its own start time and watch page | Schedule separate live events in YouTube Live Control Room, then connect an encoder and start each event at its scheduled time. | Separate events. YouTube says viewers can be given the event URL and set reminders. |
YouTube’s encoder setup documentation describes receiving an encoder feed and starting an event; it does not describe a built-in timetable that changes among lesson files within one continuous stream. That is a reading of the reviewed YouTube Help documentation, not proof that no third-party integration or later interface feature exists. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

How to run different lessons in one continuous stream
The key design decision is where the schedule lives: the playout workflow must choose which lesson is on air and keep providing YouTube with the resulting feed. The cited YouTube setup guide explains the connection to YouTube, but does not establish which external automation product to use or whether a particular setup can change sources without interruption.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Define the timetable. Write down the lesson files, their order, start times, and whether any lessons repeat. Decide what should play if a lesson is missing or runs longer than expected.
- Choose a playout/encoder workflow. It must select the appropriate prerecorded lesson at the required time and produce a continuous outgoing feed. Verify that the specific software or hardware supports your schedule and source-change behavior; those details are not established by YouTube’s cited setup documentation.
- Connect the feed to YouTube. In YouTube’s live setup, use the server URL and stream key for the event, then start the encoder workflow when the event is ready. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or include it in a shared timetable.
- Test the complete timetable before relying on it. Preview the stream, check the lesson transitions and audio, and confirm the outgoing feed remains available through a change. YouTube recommends testing and previewing and says to continuously monitor audio and video quality. YouTube live streaming tips – Computer
- Plan for failures and oversight. Arrange a way to detect a failed encoder, missing feed, or silent/incorrect lesson and decide who will respond. A timetable alone does not establish that the encoder or network will recover automatically.
How to schedule separate lesson events in YouTube
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create a scheduled live stream for a lesson.
- Share that event’s URL so viewers can find it and set a reminder.
- At the scheduled time, connect the encoder and start the event. Repeat for each lesson that should have its own event and start time.
YouTube describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream, share its URL, and let viewers get reminders; at broadcast time, the creator connects an encoder and starts the event. This is the straightforward YouTube-native option when separate events are acceptable, rather than one persistent watch page. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

Monitoring and replay considerations
Monitor the live output
A 24/7 timetable still needs an operational plan for the encoder, outgoing feed, and network. YouTube advises previewing and testing a stream and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. Its guidance lists software encoding programs as an option and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events; it also says creators need not start with expensive equipment. The cited guidance does not establish minimum computer specifications or a requirement to buy a dedicated machine. YouTube live streaming tips – Computer
Do not assume a full-day broadcast becomes one replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end. That statement does not establish whether an uninterrupted 24-hour or longer broadcast will be saved as one complete replay. If a complete archive matters, confirm the current handling for your setup rather than relying on the under-12-hour rule. YouTube Help: Archive live streams

Choosing the workflow
- Choose one continuous stream if viewers need a persistent watch page and lessons must change automatically; the switching schedule must be handled by the outgoing playout/encoder workflow.
- Choose separate scheduled events if distinct watch pages, start times, and reminders suit the lessons better and you do not require one uninterrupted channel feed.
- In either case, decide who monitors the stream, how feed or encoder failures will be noticed, and what archive outcome you need.
