Cloudinary documents website screenshot capture through its URL2PNG add-on, but its documentation does not establish a dedicated bulk-screenshot endpoint, batch limit, or screenshot-specific concurrency guidance. To capture multiple pages, use the documented URL2PNG transformation workflow for each target and manage those requests in your own job queue. Confirm any account-specific batch capability with Cloudinary before relying on one.
How Cloudinary captures a website screenshot
Cloudinary’s URL2PNG add-on generates a screenshot on the fly through a dynamic transformation URL. The workflow sets the delivery type to url2png and supplies the website address as the public ID. Cloudinary says the resulting screenshot is cached and delivered through its CDN. See the URL2PNG add-on documentation for current account and URL details.

For a collection of pages, treat each target as an individual URL2PNG capture unless Cloudinary confirms another supported mechanism for your account. The documentation reviewed does not specify a multi-target screenshot request or a maximum screenshot batch size.

Configure each capture
URL2PNG documents options including viewport, user_agent, and delay. Set them according to what you need to capture: viewport dimensions and user agent affect the browser context, while delay gives a page additional time before capture. Not every page needs custom settings.

The guide’s mobile example uses a 640-by-1135 viewport, an iPhone user-agent string, and fullpage=false. Treat those values as an example configuration, not universal defaults. Choose and validate settings against the pages and output you need.
Turn multiple targets into a controlled job
Since a dedicated screenshot batch endpoint and screenshot concurrency limit are not established in the documentation, a bulk workflow means coordinating per-target requests on your side. Keep the input list, request generation, result handling, and retries separate so that a failure for one target does not obscure the status of the others.

- Prepare the targets. Store one website URL and its required capture settings per job. Validate that each target is a valid URL before creating its transformation request.
- Generate a URL2PNG request per target. Use the documented delivery type and the target website as the public ID. Apply viewport, user-agent, delay, or other supported transformation settings only where needed.
- Apply access controls. The add-on documentation says these dynamic transformation URLs are, by default, required to be eagerly generated or signed using Cloudinary’s authenticated API. Check your account’s current add-on configuration and protect generated URLs as required; do not assume an unsigned URL is suitable for every setup.
- Track each result independently. Record the target, generated URL, success or failure, and any retry state in your job system. This makes it possible to resume incomplete work without treating a whole collection as one indivisible request.
- Set concurrency conservatively. The sources do not establish a screenshot-specific safe concurrency value. Begin with a cautious workload and adjust based on observed behavior and account guidance, rather than importing an upload limit as a screenshot rule.
Apply image transformations after capture
Cloudinary’s CLI documentation demonstrates a URL2PNG website capture followed by image transformations, including dimensions, crop position, and grayscale. The URL2PNG guide also points to further transformations. The example supports transforming the resulting image, but it does not establish that every transformation behaves identically for every screenshot. Consult the Cloudinary CLI documentation and add-on guide for syntax and compatibility.
Do not mistake upload batching for screenshot batching
Cloudinary’s bulk-upload support article discusses the Upload API, not URL2PNG website screenshots. It recommends beginning around 10 simultaneous upload requests and increasing gradually; it also advises reducing concurrency and retrying failed uploads if account concurrency limits return HTTP 420. That is upload guidance only, not a documented screenshot concurrency limit. Read the bulk-upload support article in the context of uploading files.

Likewise, Cloudinary’s Upload API and Admin API cover asset upload and management operations; the cited material does not identify them as bulk website screenshot endpoints.
Cost and reliability considerations
Cloudinary warns that unplanned dynamic screenshot URLs can create costs. Before generating a large collection, verify that URL2PNG is enabled and check your account’s current add-on configuration, access controls, and applicable charges. Eagerly generate or sign URLs as required by your setup, and restrict who can create or expose them.

Do not assume a particular batch price, free allowance, screenshot cache lifetime, or capture throughput from the cited material: it does not establish those details. For reliability, make your own job process able to retain completed results and retry only the targets that failed, while respecting Cloudinary’s account-specific guidance.
Troubleshooting Cloudinary screenshot jobs
- The transformation URL is denied or does not work as expected: Check that the URL2PNG add-on is available and configured for your account. Verify whether your setup requires eager generation or a signed URL, as the add-on documentation describes those as the default access controls.
- The captured page is incomplete: Review the viewport, user agent, and delay settings for that specific target. A delay can give a page more time before capture, but the documentation does not promise that one delay value will suit every site.
- A transformed result differs from the original screenshot: Check the selected transformation and its compatibility with the capture. Cloudinary’s CLI example demonstrates several transformations, but that is not a guarantee about every transformation and page.
- Bulk-upload HTTP 420 guidance seems relevant: It applies to Upload API concurrency, not URL2PNG screenshots. Do not use the upload article’s starting concurrency as a screenshot limit; seek screenshot-specific guidance from Cloudinary if you need a defined ceiling.
- Some targets fail while others succeed: Keep per-target outcomes in your job queue and retry failed items individually. The reviewed documentation does not define a batch-level response format because it does not describe a dedicated screenshot batch endpoint.
