Check how much storage is available
Open Settings and look under My Fire TV or Device & Software for the available-storage display. Amazon notes that the settings experience varies across Fire TV devices, so you may see a different label or arrangement. See Amazon’s Fire TV Home Screen guide.

Clear app caches first
A cache contains temporary app files. Clearing it is different from clearing app data and does not uninstall the app. Amazon documents two routes, depending on the options shown on your device:
- Open Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications.
- If available, select Clear all Application Caches and confirm. Otherwise, select an app, then choose Clear Cache. Repeat for other apps as needed.
Amazon also says that when storage is low, Fire TV may automatically clear the cache of an app that has been unused for more than 30 days. This happens in the background and cannot be turned off. The option names and availability can differ by device. Amazon’s instructions for clearing Fire TV app data and cache cover the manual and automatic behavior.

Choose the right cleanup option

Clear app data only when you accept the reset
Use Clear Data only if you are prepared for the app’s locally stored information or settings to be cleared. It is not the same as clearing cache, and the effect varies by app. To find it, open Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, select the app, then choose Clear Data if that option is available. Amazon lists this control alongside its cache instructions: Clear App Data and Cache on Fire TV.
Uninstall apps you no longer use
If an app is not needed, uninstalling it removes the app rather than just its cached files. Open Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, select the app, and choose the uninstall option shown. Amazon’s developer guide documents this app-management route and notes that menus may differ on first-generation devices: Install and Run Your App (Fire TV).

What Auto Offload does—and which devices can use it
Auto Offload may remove an app from local use when storage is low and it has been unused for 60 days. Amazon says the feature retains login information and preferences, but you must redownload the app to use it again. It requires an internet connection and is on by default. To check or change it, go to Settings > Applications > Auto Offload. See Amazon’s Auto Offload guidance.

If your Fire TV Stick still says storage is full
- Clear caches for several apps, using the individual-app option if a bulk-clear control is not shown.
- Uninstall apps you do not use; clearing cache alone leaves the app installed.
- Review whether a particular app’s data can be cleared without losing information you need.
- Check the available-storage display again under My Fire TV or Device & Software; the route and labels depend on the device.
Amazon’s cited instructions do not give a general amount of storage that any one action will recover, so the result depends on the apps and files on your device.
