Start with the least destructive checks—network, free storage, restart, and the platform’s official updater—then use file repair or cache cleanup before reinstalling. Login issues require a separate check of the server and the exact sign-in method used when the account was created.
This guide covers PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, including zero-speed downloads, error 2002-0-0, crashes, black screens, missing verification emails, and apparently reset progress.

Also check whether HoYoverse has placed the game into maintenance. Login is unavailable until scheduled maintenance ends, even when your device and account are working normally.

Update Zenless Zone Zero through the correct platform tool
PC: HoYoPlay
- Exit Zenless Zone Zero completely, including any launcher process that remains open.
- Restart HoYoPlay and select the update option for the game.
- Confirm that the installation drive has enough free space. A nearly full drive can stop both downloading and unpacking.
- If the update fails, use Repair Now in HoYoPlay, let the check finish, restart the launcher, and try again.
- Only if repair fails, remove the damaged installation and reinstall from the official Zenless Zone Zero website. Avoid repackaged installers or third-party download mirrors.
Closing unused applications before retrying can release memory and disk handles that prevent the launcher from replacing files. If the launcher itself is timing out, the network and launcher-cache steps in the login section can also apply.
Android: use the in-game update prompt
Open the installed game and follow its update prompt rather than manually replacing game files. If Android reports that the app or its resources cannot be updated, verify available storage, switch to a different network, and restart the app. For a resource download that remains at zero, clear the app data using Settings > App Management > Zenless Zone Zero > Storage > Clear Data, then launch the game and begin the download again. Clearing data removes local resources and settings, so make sure you can sign in again before doing it.
iPhone and iPad: App Store update
Install updates from the App Store. The official release FAQ lists iOS 14.0 or later as supported and calls for 26 GB of available storage. The space must be free on the device, not merely present in cloud storage. If the App Store update is unavailable, close and reopen the App Store, check the connection, and confirm that the device meets the operating-system requirement.
PlayStation 5
- Highlight Zenless Zone Zero on the home screen or in the game library.
- Hold the Options button on the controller.
- Choose Check for Updates and allow the console to complete the patch.
Do not launch the game while the console is still applying the update. If account authentication fails after the patch, check PlayStation Network service status as well as the game’s maintenance status.

Xbox Series X|S
- Open My games & apps.
- Choose Manage, then Updates.
- Select Zenless Zone Zero and confirm the available update.
For a sign-in timeout on Xbox, check Xbox Network service status before changing game files.
Check storage before repairing files
HoYoverse identifies insufficient storage, corrupted downloads, blocked files, restricted or unstable networks, and outdated software as common causes of update failure. Keep more free space than the download size because installation can require a temporary unpacking area.

These are published requirements, not a promise that every future patch will have the same size. For example, HoYoverse’s version 2.6 pre-download notice listed approximately 8 GB for PC, 5 GB for mobile, 20 GB for PS5 and PS5 Pro, and 23 GB for Xbox Series X|S. Those figures describe that version’s pre-download and should not be treated as permanent storage requirements.

A zero-speed resource download usually indicates a network path or a damaged local resource rather than a password problem. Work through these steps in order so you do not delete files unnecessarily.

- Switch networks. Try a different Wi-Fi network or a mobile hotspot. This tests whether the original ISP, router, DNS path, firewall, or filtering service is blocking the resource host.
- Restart the download. Pause or exit the game, reopen it, and let the resource process start again on the new connection.
- Clear mobile data if the speed remains zero. On Android, use Settings > App Management > Zenless Zone Zero > Storage > Clear Data. Reopen the game and sign in before restarting the resource download.
- Delete PC download resources. In the PC client open Settings > Download Resources > Delete, then restart the download. This removes the incomplete resource set without requiring an immediate full game reinstall.
- Try another device as a final diagnostic. If the download works elsewhere on the same account and network, the original device or installation is the likely cause. If it fails on multiple devices and networks, record the details for support.
Do not repeatedly press resend, restart, or clear data while the launcher is still writing files. Give each operation time to finish so a partial archive is not made worse.
Use the repair sequence for failed updates and corrupted files
For a general update failure, use increasingly destructive actions:
- Close competing programs. Exit unused applications, overlays, download managers, and security tools that may lock or scan game files.
- Confirm storage. Check the actual free space on the drive or device where Zenless Zone Zero is installed, including temporary extraction space on PC.
- Verify or repair files. On PC, choose Repair Now in HoYoPlay. In the game’s own repair interface, run file verification when offered.
- Clean local cache or resources. Use the PC Settings > Download Resources > Delete path for a stuck resource set. On Android, clear app data only after confirming that your account credentials or linked sign-in are available.
- Update system software. Install pending operating-system updates and graphics drivers on PC. An old driver or OS can cause both patch failures and startup crashes.
- Reinstall from an official source. Use this only after repair and cleanup fail. A clean official installation is safer than copying individual files from another machine.
Keep screenshots of the exact error before deleting data. The message, code, time, and platform can distinguish a damaged download from an account or service issue.
Repair crashes, freezing, and a black screen
When the game launches but becomes unstable, change one variable at a time so you can identify the cause.

- Adjust display mode, resolution, and graphics quality. A lower resolution or quality setting can get you past a black screen or a crash during rendering.
- Log out and check for a game update. A runtime mismatch after a patch can look like a graphics failure.
- Verify the game files or run the launcher’s repair function.
- Clear the game cache and close background applications, recording software, overlays, and browsers that consume memory or hook into graphics output.
- Update the operating system and, on PC, the graphics driver.
- Use the built-in repair tool from the Press to Play screen: tap the tool icon and select Repair.
If the game works after lowering quality but fails at the original settings, keep the stable settings and report the device model, operating-system version, graphics hardware, and the exact point of failure to support.
Error 2002-0-0 and unzip failures
Error 2002-0-0 is documented in the release FAQ as an unzip or damaged-resource problem. Use HoYoverse’s official repair tool first, then restart HoYoPlay and redownload the affected files. If the tool cannot locate the damaged resources, the FAQ suggests reinstalling to a new partition. On a PC with multiple drives, choose a partition with sufficient free space and a healthy file system rather than repeatedly retrying the same incomplete archive.

Wrong credentials
Check spelling, capitalization, and the address you actually registered. Select Forgot Password and follow the Account Center flow: request a verification code, enter the code, and set a new password. A successful password reset confirms access to that HoYoverse account; it does not prove that it is the account containing your original progress.

Network timeout or connection failure
- Switch networks or restart the router.
- On PC, clear the launcher cache or reinstall the launcher if HoYoPlay itself cannot connect.
- On mobile, update Zenless Zone Zero through the relevant app store.
- On PlayStation or Xbox, check the respective network service status before changing the game installation.
Maintenance can produce a similar symptom, so check the game’s official maintenance notice before treating a service outage as a device fault.

“Too many requests” and risk warnings
- “Too many requests” or a security-risk warning: stop retrying and wait before attempting another login. Repeated rapid attempts can prolong the lockout.
- “Current network environment is at risk”: change the network, for example from a restricted Wi-Fi connection to a trusted alternative.
- “Potential risk detected”: check the registered email and complete the identity verification requested by HoYoverse. Do not give verification codes to another person.
HoYoverse’s login guidance asks users to check the registered email for a verification message when identity confirmation is required.
When Google, Apple, email, or console login opens the wrong account
HoYoverse treats linked email credentials and third-party sign-in identities as distinct login methods. Google, Apple, Game Center, PlayStation Network, and other methods can lead to different account records even when they use the same person’s device or email address.
Moving from an old device to a new one
- On the old device, open the User Center, or sign in to the HoYoverse Account Center.
- Link an email address and set a password to the account that contains your progress.
- On the new device, use that linked email and password instead of selecting a different third-party icon.
The Google icon login is supported on Android and PC. The Apple icon login is supported on iOS and PC. If you originally used one of those icons, selecting a plain email login can create the appearance of an empty account unless the email was explicitly linked to the same HoYoverse ID.

Progress appears to have reset
First confirm the server region, then repeat the exact sign-in method used originally. A correct password on the wrong server can show a new or empty character profile. Likewise, an Apple, Google, Game Center, PlayStation Network, or other identity can open a different account from a linked email login. Do not start new game progress while troubleshooting if you want to avoid confusing the account history.
What to do when the verification email never arrives
- Check the spam, junk, and promotions folders.
- Confirm that the address displayed in Account Center is spelled correctly.
- Wait up to 10 minutes; delivery is not always immediate.
- Resend sparingly rather than generating many overlapping codes.
- Allow messages from
[email protected]and check whether your mail provider has blocked or quarantined them.
Use the newest valid code if several arrive. Older codes can expire when a later request is issued.
Prepare an effective support request
If the official repair and account steps do not solve the problem, contact support with enough technical context to reproduce it. In the game, open Menu > Feedback > Self-Service when available, or use the Help Center’s Issue Feedback form. The listed Zenless Zone Zero support address is [email protected].
Include:
- A short description of the failure and the exact on-screen error or code.
- Your UID and the server region.
- Device model, hardware specifications where relevant, and operating-system version.
- Your ISP and whether the problem occurs on Wi-Fi, mobile data, or another network.
- The date, time, and region in which it happened.
- Screenshots or a screen recording showing the failed step.
- A chronological list of actions already attempted, such as changing networks, repairing files, clearing data, or reinstalling.
Do not send your password or a one-time verification code. Support needs identifying and diagnostic information, not secret credentials.
