When a TradingView chart is slow, stuck on a loading screen, or showing an old candle, first determine whether the problem affects TradingView generally or only your browser, device, account session, or network. Check TradingView Status from a second tab or another device, then work through browser restarts, extension testing, chart-load reduction, Desktop cache clearing, and security-software checks. A status incident or provider-specific feed warning requires a different response from a chart that is merely using too much local CPU or memory.
Use the sequence below in order. It starts with checks that take seconds and avoids changing hardware or disabling security tools before there is evidence that they are involved.

Identify the failure before changing anything
“Slow” and “not updating” describe several different failures. A blank chart that never finishes loading, a laggy crosshair, frozen controls, a stale last price, and drawings that do not appear on another device can have different causes.

Note when the issue began and what changed immediately beforehand. A problem that appears after adding an indicator, after a browser has been open for a long time, or at the same time as a status incident provides a stronger lead than the symptom alone.

1. Check whether TradingView is having an incident
Open TradingView Status in a second browser tab, or check it from another device. This prevents a completely stalled page on one device from hiding a wider service problem. Review both the current state and the status history. The history records chart-loading incidents, provider events described as charts not updating, maintenance, and resolution times.
If Status shows an active incident affecting chart loading or data, local cache and hardware changes will not repair the underlying service. Wait for the incident to be resolved and use the incident description to determine whether it affects all symbols or a specific data provider.
TradingView has previously recorded a “Slow loading data” incident on 28 May 2019 and marked it resolved at 14:30 GMT that day. That historical entry is an example of why a slow chart can be service-side; it is not a current diagnosis or a performance benchmark.

2. Apply the browser fixes TradingView recommends
TradingView says browser performance can vary with the number of open tabs, installed extensions, and how long the browser has been running without a restart. Perform these actions in order, testing the chart after each major change.
Reload the chart page
Use the browser’s normal reload command while the affected chart is open. A reload creates a fresh page session and can recover a stalled connection without changing your layout or indicators.

Restart the browser completely
Close every window of the browser, make sure it has exited, and open it again. A browser that has remained open for a long time can accumulate resource use or retain a failed session; reopening it clears that session state.
Close extra tabs and applications
Leave only the TradingView tab open for the test. Video, web-based spreadsheets, development tools, and other chart tabs can compete for CPU and memory. If performance returns after closing them, reopen work one item at a time to find the load that pushes the system over its limit.

Disable added extensions
Temporarily disable extensions you installed, including content-blocking extensions such as Adblock, then reload TradingView. Do not remove extensions permanently until you know which one is involved. If the chart works with extensions disabled, re-enable them individually and test after each change.
Compare with a private window or another browser
Open the same symbol and timeframe in a private or incognito window when your browser offers that mode. If it works there but not in the normal profile, an extension or site data in the normal profile is a likely lead. This comparison is a troubleshooting inference, not a guarantee that private mode fixes the cause.
Next, try another supported browser. A chart that works in one browser but not another narrows the problem to the original browser’s profile, extensions, stored site data, or implementation rather than proving that TradingView itself is down.

3. If you use TradingView Desktop, update and clear its cache
Desktop has its own application state, so browser fixes may not affect it. TradingView’s Desktop procedure is:
- Open the three-dot menu.
- Open Settings, then About, and verify that the application is updated.
- Return to Settings and open Service.
- Select Clear cache.
- Relaunch TradingView Desktop and test the same chart.
Clearing the cache removes stored application data used to build the interface; it does not turn a service outage into a working feed. If Desktop remains slow or frozen, open TradingView in a web browser. A working browser session with a failing Desktop app indicates an app-specific problem; failure in both points toward the account, network, data provider, or service.
4. Reduce chart and system load
Find an indicator that is exhausting the tab
TradingView warns that resource-intensive indicators can cause tab crashes and severe lag. On the affected chart, disable every indicator, then test the chart. If it becomes responsive, re-enable indicators one at a time, testing after each addition. The last indicator added before the slowdown is the trigger to investigate or remove.
Large collections of scripts, calculations that process extensive history, and several heavily configured panes can all increase work for the browser. Keep the test controlled: use the same symbol and timeframe while changing only one indicator at a time.
Inspect CPU and memory use
Open your operating system’s task manager or activity monitor while the chart is slow. Look for sustained high CPU or memory use by the browser, TradingView Desktop, or another application. Close unrelated resource-intensive programs and retest. If memory pressure improves after closing other programs, the chart may have been healthy but competing for system resources.

Update the operating system and drivers
TradingView advises keeping the operating system and drivers current. Apply normal, trusted updates, restart the computer, and test before reinstalling the app or changing hardware. An update is a general compatibility step, not evidence that a graphics card, monitor, router, or cooling accessory is required.
5. Test security and network software without leaving protection off
TradingView identifies antivirus software, firewalls, VPN clients, and network-monitoring tools as possible sources of interference. They can block or inspect requests needed for the chart and its data connection.
- Record which security or network tools are active so you can restore the original configuration.
- Use a brief, controlled test in which one tool’s filtering feature is paused, or connect through a permitted network, while observing the chart.
- Reload TradingView and test the same symbol and timeframe.
- Restore protection immediately after the test.
- If the tool is implicated, configure an allow rule for TradingView traffic or contact the tool’s administrator rather than operating permanently without protection.
Do not disable antivirus or firewall protection as a general “fix.” A change that makes the chart work is useful only because it isolates the blocking component; the safe remedy is a targeted configuration change.

Read the warning on the chart
A notice such as a closed connection or a parallel chart connection has notice-specific guidance. Open TradingView’s chart-page warning help index and follow the instructions for the exact message shown. The wording matters: a connection warning suggests a session or network path problem, while a provider notice can indicate an upstream market-data event.

If only one exchange, symbol group, or provider is affected and TradingView Status lists a provider-specific event, the rest of the platform may be functioning normally. Test a different symbol to compare. If every symbol is stale in every client, an account, network, or broad service problem is more plausible.
Check whether the market is actually trading
A candle can appear unchanged during a period with no trades or when the instrument’s session is closed. Compare another actively traded symbol and read the exchange or instrument’s session information before treating an unchanged candle as a broken connection.
A status page or warning does not guarantee a particular recovery time. Use the incident’s own updates and resolution notice rather than repeatedly changing local settings.
7. Do not confuse live-data failure with layout synchronization
TradingView can show current prices while failing to save drawings, layouts, or cross-device changes. Conversely, a saved layout can open while its live feed is disconnected. These are separate functions.

Test by making a small drawing, waiting for it to save, and checking the same layout on another client. Do not infer that an unsaved trend line proves the market feed is stale.
A practical decision path
- Compare scope: check another browser, device, or Desktop. One-client failure favors a local cause; all-client failure favors account, network, provider, or service scope.
- Check Status: an active chart-loading, maintenance, or provider incident takes priority over local tinkering.
- Refresh the session: reload, restart the browser, close extra tabs, disable extensions, and try another browser.
- Reduce computation: disable all indicators, then re-enable them individually while watching CPU and memory.
- Test the app separately: update Desktop through Settings → About, use Settings → Service → Clear cache, relaunch, and compare with the web version.
- Isolate network filtering: test antivirus, firewall, VPN, and monitoring software one at a time, then restore protection and create a narrow allow rule if needed.
- Classify persistence: use the chart-warning guidance for connection notices and the saving/syncing guidance for layout problems.
What not to do
- Do not keep clearing cache or reinstalling while TradingView Status shows an active outage; those actions cannot repair a server-side incident.
- Do not add or remove several indicators at once; you will lose the evidence needed to identify an expensive script.
- Do not leave antivirus, firewall, or VPN protection disabled after a test.
- Do not assume that an unsaved drawing means live candles are stale.
- Do not buy a faster monitor, router, cooling device, or graphics card before confirming high resource use or a hardware-specific fault. The documented first-line fixes are software, session, workload, and connection checks.
When the problem is ready for escalation
Escalate to TradingView support or your network administrator after you have recorded the affected client, browser or Desktop version, symbol and timeframe, exact warning text, start time, whether another browser or device works, CPU and memory observations, and whether Status lists an incident. This information distinguishes a reproducible account or provider issue from a local extension or security rule and prevents repeating the same basic tests.
If the issue disappears after a browser restart, extension change, indicator removal, cache clear, or allow-list adjustment, keep that change documented. Reintroduce extensions and indicators gradually so the original trigger can be confirmed without recreating an uncontrolled pile of changes.
