If you are trying to join The Duskbloods Network Test now, first check the calendar: the published sessions ran from August 21 through August 23, 2026. A new participant cannot join the original test after that window, so an apparently broken login or download may simply be an expired event. During an active session, the practical fixes are to use the originally linked Nintendo Account, complete the Country/region setting in the account-linking prompt, refresh a stalled download from User Settings, and use the Nintendo Switch 2 connection-test error code to separate a console or Wi-Fi problem from a server outage.

Work through the checks below in order. They are arranged to avoid changing network settings when the real problem is account eligibility, an incomplete application link, or a test server that is unavailable to everyone.

Start with the symptom and the test window

The same message can have very different causes. An account-linking message points to the application record, a download that never advances points to the console’s download queue or Internet path, and a connection failure with a Nintendo error code points to a specific network condition. If many players fail at the same time, local changes will not restore a game server under load.

What you see Most useful first check What the result tells you
“We were unable to obtain information necessary for your application” Repeat the Nintendo Account link and expose the Country/region setting An incomplete link can prevent the application from being accepted
Download is paused or does not move Confirm Internet access, close software, then use User Settings > Update Download Progress The queue may need a manual refresh before a restart
Cannot connect to the server Run the Nintendo Switch 2 Internet connection test and record its code and message The code directs you to the relevant Nintendo network fix
Login fails for you and many other players Check official Nintendo or FromSoftware service updates before changing your router A provider-side outage or load problem is more likely than a local fault
You are attempting to join after the published sessions Verify the event dates before troubleshooting hardware The original Network Test is no longer open to new participants

Confirm that you could participate

The Network Test was not an open download for every Switch owner. The official Network Test information requires a Nintendo Switch 2 system and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. The account used on the account page must be the Nintendo Account that was originally linked to the network-test application. Signing in with a different family member’s account, a newly created account, or an account that was not used for the application can look like a login failure even when the console and Internet connection are working.

  • The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
  • One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
  • Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
  • Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
  • GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play

Check the hardware and membership

  • Use a Nintendo Switch 2, not an earlier Nintendo Switch model.
  • Make sure the Nintendo Switch Online membership is active on the Nintendo Account intended for the test. If the membership belongs to a different account, switch to the account that holds both the application and the membership.
  • Use the Nintendo Account originally linked to the application when the Network Test site asks you to sign in. The site specifically states that the original linked account is required.

These checks are worth doing before deleting software or changing DNS settings. A console can download other content normally and still be unable to enter a test if the account association is wrong.

Check the event dates

Download-code and game-data distribution for selected participants began August 18, 2026. The published play sessions were August 21–23, 2026. Those dates describe the original Network Test schedule, not a recurring service. After the final session, a person who was not already part of the event cannot newly join by fixing a router, reinstalling the application, or obtaining another sign-in.

If your error appeared after the event ended, treat the schedule as the leading explanation. If you were selected and are checking an old installation, an unavailable login endpoint can also be expected once the test period has closed; do not assume that a normal retail release server should be available.

Fix the Nintendo Account linking error

Nintendo documents a specific procedure for the message “We were unable to obtain information necessary for your application.” The important field is the Country/region setting in the account-linking step. Leaving that field unconfirmed can stop the application information from being retrieved.

Complete the link in the prompt

  1. Start the Network Test application or application page until Nintendo prompts you to link a Nintendo Account.
  2. When the account-linking form appears, check the box marked Country/region setting. This is the exact field Nintendo identifies for the documented error.
  3. If the setting is not visible, use a desktop browser for the account page. Choose See details or Edit when that option is offered; either can expose the missing setting.
  4. Review the displayed account information and select I Agree to finish linking.
  5. Return to the Network Test application or site and sign in again with that same Nintendo Account.

Do not substitute a different account after completing the link. The application is tied to the account that was originally used, so changing accounts can create a second, separate mismatch rather than correcting the first one.

If the message returns

  • Open the account page in a desktop browser and repeat the See details/Edit step so the Country/region setting is definitely displayed.
  • Confirm that you selected I Agree after checking the setting; merely opening the details page does not complete the link.
  • Sign out of any Nintendo Account that is not the original application account before trying again.
  • Once the account link is complete, verify the test dates. A correctly linked account cannot enter a session that has already ended.

This procedure addresses the documented application-information error. It does not repair a failed Internet connection or a server outage, so move to the connection sections if the account link succeeds but the game still cannot contact the service.

Unstick a stalled or paused download

A download that remains at the same percentage is usually handled from the console’s download controls before you attempt more drastic changes. Nintendo’s sequence is to verify Internet access, close running software, update download progress from the user settings, and restart if necessary.

Refresh download progress

  1. Confirm that the console is connected to the Internet. Check that another online function can reach the network rather than assuming the Wi-Fi icon represents a usable connection.
  2. Close any running game or application. A title left open can compete with the download process.
  3. From the HOME Menu, open the user page.
  4. Choose User Settings.
  5. Select Update Download Progress.
  6. Wait for the console to reconnect and check whether the Network Test data begins advancing.

The menu path matters: opening the user page first exposes User Settings, and Update Download Progress is the control Nintendo specifies for a stalled transfer. Avoid repeatedly canceling and restarting while the queue is being refreshed; doing so can make it harder to tell whether the original transfer resumed.

Restart when the queue still does not move

  1. If Update Download Progress produces no movement, restart the Nintendo Switch 2.
  2. After the restart, wait for the console to reconnect to the Internet before checking the download status.
  3. Allow the transfer to run again and observe whether its progress changes.
  4. If the download remains slow or stopped, run the console’s Internet connection test and record the result before making further changes.

A restart can clear a temporary queue state, but it cannot overcome an unavailable test service. If the connection test is healthy and the event window has ended, a non-starting test download is consistent with the test no longer accepting new participants.

Separate a slow transfer from a failed connection

Use the Internet connection test when the download is merely slow, repeatedly pauses, or stops after a restart. Nintendo says that a failed test displays an error code and message; that code identifies the relevant troubleshooting article. Keep the exact code, wording, and whether the test was run over Wi-Fi or a cable. Those details are more useful than a general description such as “the Internet is bad.”

Diagnose “cannot connect to the server” errors

Run the Nintendo Switch 2 Internet connection test from the console and record both the error code and its message. Nintendo’s guidance is that a failed test supplies an error code that can direct you to the appropriate connection troubleshooting instructions. Use that code as the deciding evidence for a local network fault instead of guessing at settings.

Run a controlled connection test

  1. Open the console’s Internet settings and start the built-in Internet connection test.
  2. Write down the complete error code and message exactly as shown.
  3. Note whether the test was successful, whether the console is near the router, and whether the test used Wi-Fi or a wired connection.
  4. If it fails, follow Nintendo’s article for that exact code. Do not apply instructions for a different code simply because the wording sounds similar.
  5. Retry the Network Test only after the console’s own connection test succeeds.

Use distance and a wired test to isolate Wi-Fi

Run the test near the wireless router to reduce the effect of a weak signal. Where a wired connection is available, test with the cable connected. A successful wired test after a failed or unstable Wi-Fi test points toward wireless signal conditions rather than the account or game application. Conversely, a failure on both wired and wireless tests makes a broader network path or service issue more plausible.

This comparison does not prove that the game server is healthy; it only separates a local wireless symptom from faults that persist regardless of the radio connection. Keep the test code from each attempt so that support staff can see whether the failure changed when the connection method changed.

What to do with a successful console test

If Nintendo’s connection test succeeds but The Duskbloods still reports that it cannot connect, check the account link and event schedule next. If those are correct, look for an official service notice before changing router settings. A successful console test establishes that the console reached Nintendo’s network test endpoint; it does not guarantee that a particular Network Test game server is accepting sessions.

Recognize a server-side login outage

FromSoftware acknowledged login problems with The Duskbloods Network Test game server during the first session, and the session was disrupted by server load. That history matters because a local restart, account relink, or Wi-Fi change cannot repair a provider-side capacity problem.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Signs that the problem is widespread

  • Players who normally use different Internet providers report the same login or connection failure at the same time.
  • The Nintendo connection test succeeds, but the game server rejects or times out during login.
  • The failure begins when a session opens and is not accompanied by a new local error code.
  • Official Nintendo or FromSoftware updates acknowledge login problems, maintenance, or unusually high server load.

When these signs line up, stop cycling through local changes. Monitor official updates and retry after service restoration. Repeatedly reinstalling the application or changing account details during an outage can introduce a separate problem without improving the server response.

When a server explanation is not enough

Do not label every connection error an outage. If only your console fails, the built-in connection test returns an error code, or moving closer to the router changes the result, follow the local network path indicated by Nintendo. A server incident is the better explanation only when the console’s connection is sound or the failure is clearly shared by many participants.

Choose the right fix instead of trying everything

Evidence you have Next action Avoid
Country/region setting is unchecked or hidden Use See details/Edit in a desktop browser, check the setting, then select I Agree Creating or switching to a new Nintendo Account
Download is paused but the console has Internet access Close software and run User Settings > Update Download Progress Assuming the application is permanently corrupt
Download remains stalled after a refresh Restart, wait for reconnection, then run the connection test Changing several network settings at once
Connection test returns an error code Use the Nintendo guidance for that exact code; try a nearer or wired connection to isolate Wi-Fi Using a generic fix for an unknown code
Connection test succeeds and many players fail Check official service updates and wait for restoration Repeated reinstalls or router resets
Attempt occurs after August 21–23, 2026 Recognize that the original test window has closed Expecting a new application or download to be accepted

Common scenarios and the shortest safe path

“I cannot log in, but the download completed.”

First verify that you are signing in with the Nintendo Account originally linked to the application and that the Nintendo Switch Online membership is active on that account. If the application-linking message appears, complete the Country/region setting and select I Agree. If the console connection test is successful and other players are reporting the same failure, treat a server incident as more likely. Finally, check whether you are outside the published test dates.

“The download is stuck at one percentage.”

Confirm Internet access, close all running software, and use HOME Menu user page > User Settings > Update Download Progress. Restart if there is still no movement, wait for reconnection, and run the Internet connection test. The resulting error code—not the percentage shown in the download bar—should determine the next network step.

“The game says it cannot connect, but other games work.”

Run the Nintendo connection test anyway and save its code and message. Other games reaching their own services does not establish that this particular Network Test server is available. A successful console test combined with widespread reports points toward the test service; a failed test or Wi-Fi-only failure points toward the local connection path.

“I was selected, but I am checking after the event.”

The original sessions were published for August 21–23, 2026, with distribution beginning August 18. Selection did not turn the Network Test into a permanent service. After the closing date, an inability to start a new session can be the expected result rather than a fault in your console.

Prepare useful information before requesting support

If the documented steps do not identify the cause during an active session, collect facts before contacting Nintendo or checking FromSoftware notices. Include the Nintendo Switch 2 model context, the Nintendo Account used for the original application, whether the Nintendo Switch Online membership is active, the exact on-screen wording, and whether the Country/region setting was accepted.

  • For downloads, note whether software was closed, whether Update Download Progress was used, and whether a restart changed the status.
  • For connection failures, provide the complete Internet connection-test code and message, plus whether the test was Wi-Fi or wired and how far the console was from the router.
  • For suspected outages, record the approximate time and whether other participants reported the same symptom.
  • State the date you attempted to play so support can distinguish an active-session incident from an attempt after the published schedule.

These details let support separate an account/application record, a console download queue, a wireless path, and a game-server incident without asking you to repeat unrelated changes.

What the Network Test was designed to support

The published test information describes matches with up to eight players participating together. That scale helps explain why a session can experience a sharp load increase when many selected players sign in at once, but it does not change the basic troubleshooting order: confirm eligibility and timing, complete the account link, refresh the download, run the console connection test, and then check for a service-side incident.

Because the test was a scheduled event rather than an always-on release, the calendar is a functional requirement. A correct Nintendo Account, a healthy Internet connection, and a fully downloaded application cannot create a new session after the published window has closed.
