Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteStart by identifying whether Stellar Blade fails to launch, crashes at a repeatable point, stutters during play, or simply runs below your frame-rate target. Update the game, check whether an official patch addresses your specific symptom, and then test graphics settings one at a time. The published PC requirements and performance targets are useful comparisons—not a guarantee that every system will reach 60 FPS.
First, identify the problem and record your PC details
Before changing settings, note what happens and when. A launch failure, a crash in Photo Mode, persistently low average FPS, and brief stutters are different symptoms and may have different causes.

- Record the exact error message, if one appears, and whether a crash happens at the same point each time.
- Write down your game version, CPU, GPU and its VRAM, system RAM, and whether the game is installed on an HDD or SSD.
- Note your resolution, graphics preset, upscaling setting, frame-generation setting, and GPU driver version.
- Check whether other demanding games show similar crashes or stuttering. If they do, the issue may extend beyond Stellar Blade.
Compare your PC with the target you want to play at
Steam lists separate minimum and recommended hardware tiers. The performance figures below are the targets associated with those configurations, not guaranteed results on every PC. PlayStation’s PC launch announcement also described higher-resolution tiers; those are published targets, not independent benchmarks for your particular hardware.
| Tier or published target | Hardware and requirements | Resolution, settings, and target | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam minimum | Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-7600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X; 16 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB; DirectX 12; 75 GB storage | 1080p, Low, 60 FPS | HDD supported; SSD recommended |
| Steam recommended | Windows 10 64-bit; Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X; 16 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT; DirectX 12; 75 GB storage | 1440p, Medium, 60 FPS | SSD required |
| PlayStation PC launch targets | Published as performance tiers; no additional hardware mapping stated in the cited announcement | 1080p Low, 1440p Medium, 1440p High, and 4K Very High, each at a 60 FPS target | Not stated in the cited announcement |

Update the game and check whether a patch matches your symptom
Install the latest game update through the store where you own the game, then retest the same action or scene. Official patch notes describe fixes for specific issues; they do not establish one cause for every crash or low-FPS report.
- Photo Mode crash: Version 1.3.0 fixed an issue where the game could occasionally crash when entering Photo Mode.
- Failure to launch on certain graphics cards: Version 1.1.2 fixed a launch issue affecting some graphics cards.
- Frame generation missing or unavailable: Version 1.3.1 addressed incorrect detection of Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling that disabled FSR and DLSS Frame Generation on certain systems.
These patch notes are symptom-specific. A crash elsewhere in the game, or low FPS, is not proof that one of these issues is responsible. See the official Steam announcements and patch notes.

Use the Windows scheduling fix only for the documented frame-generation issue
If you are on Windows 10 and FSR or DLSS Frame Generation is unavailable in a way that matches the version 1.3.1 note, check the Windows setting named there. This is not a general crash or stuttering fix.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Search Windows for Graphics Settings and open that settings page.
- Enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
- Restart the PC, then reopen the game and check whether the frame-generation option is available.
If your symptom is unrelated to frame-generation availability, changing this setting is not supported by the cited patch note as a solution.

Test graphics settings one at a time
The PC version lists DLSS 4 and FSR3 upscaling and frame-generation features, as well as a disabled frame-rate limit. Which options are available depends on the system. Change one setting, replay the same scene, and record the average FPS and whether motion feels smoother before making another change.
- Record your starting resolution, preset, upscaler, frame-generation state, and average FPS in a repeatable scene.
- If performance is consistently low, lower either the resolution or the preset—not both at once—and compare the result.
- If your GPU supports an upscaler offered by the game, test it separately and note its effect on image quality and performance.
- Test frame generation as a separate option from upscaling. Judge both perceived smoothness and responsiveness; it does not guarantee a fix for stutter or input responsiveness on every system.
- Keep the change that helps your specific problem, or restore the original setting if it does not. Avoid changing several options between tests, because you will not know which change mattered.

Check the installation drive before treating storage as the cause
Steam lists HDD support for the minimum tier and recommends an SSD there; an SSD is required for the recommended tier. Check which drive holds the game and whether it meets the tier you are comparing against. The listing does not say that installing on an SSD fixes crashes or raises FPS in every case.

When to consider a hardware change
Compare your current GPU and CPU with the requirements for the resolution and preset you want, then rule out an outdated game version or a settings mismatch. The listed GPU tiers can help orient that comparison, but they do not determine the right upgrade for an individual PC. Lowering settings is a reversible diagnostic step; buying hardware is a larger decision and should follow from a clear mismatch with your intended target.
