In automation you control, disable the relevant browser cache or bypass the service worker, then wait for the specific updated content to be ready before capturing. If the page response is current but the image is not, investigate the scheduler’s saved runs or delivery path instead.
Find which part of the screenshot workflow is stale
There are two separate things to check: the page the scheduled browser received and the image the scheduler later displayed or delivered. Comparing them prevents you from changing browser settings when the problem is actually an older saved screenshot.

- Open the same URL outside the scheduled job and check whether it currently shows the expected content.
- Compare that page with the scheduled image. Check the capture run time and image timestamp if the scheduler exposes them.
- If available, inspect the scheduled browser’s request log or response content. Determine whether the request received current page data before the screenshot was taken.
- If the response was current but the displayed image is old, inspect the scheduler’s run selection, stored image, and delivery cache.
The scheduler is not identified here, so its exact controls and image-retention behavior cannot be assumed. Check its run history and documentation for the relevant options.

Check browser cache and service workers separately
A browser’s ordinary request cache and a site’s service worker are distinct possible causes. In Puppeteer, the Page API documents controls for disabling request-cache use and bypassing service workers. Use the control that matches the evidence rather than changing both by default.

Disable the browser request cache
In a Puppeteer job, call page.setCacheEnabled(false) before navigating. Then reload the URL and inspect the resulting response and page content. This controls whether requests use the browser cache; it does not establish that a particular screenshot scheduler exposes the same setting.
Bypass the service worker
If the site uses a service worker and evidence points to it serving old content, call page.setBypassServiceWorker(true) before navigation. Verify whether the page now shows the update. A service-worker bypass does not clear every other cache layer, such as a CDN or the scheduler’s stored image.

These controls are Puppeteer-specific examples. For another platform, find its equivalent settings and confirm they apply to the browser context used for the scheduled capture.

A navigation event does not guarantee that the content you need is ready to capture. Playwright’s navigation documentation describes a process that includes response commitment, document loading, script execution, and resource loading. A page may therefore begin navigating successfully while client-rendered or data-driven content is still old, incomplete, or absent.

- Identify a site-specific readiness signal, such as the updated text or an element that appears only after the new content loads.
- Wait for that signal before taking the screenshot, using the equivalent selector-wait feature in your automation tool.
- Verify the visible content immediately before capture. If the site updates after initial page load, a successful navigation alone is not enough.
The right readiness signal depends on the site and cannot be inferred from the URL alone. Avoid relying on a fixed delay as the only check when you can wait for the actual content.

What to collect if the cause remains unclear
Before changing more settings, record which scheduler or automation code runs the job, whether it creates a fresh browser context, whether the site uses a service worker or CDN, and whether the shown image matches the latest run. Those details help isolate the failing layer and identify the right provider-specific setting.
