If your Samsung Galaxy Watch will not pair, first check Bluetooth, phone compatibility, and the Galaxy Wearable app. If it connects but alerts are missing, check the watch’s notification controls, the affected phone app’s permissions, and whether the phone is currently in use. Work through the steps below before resetting the watch, which can erase data and may require carrier help for LTE service.
Start by identifying what is failing
Pairing trouble, intermittent disconnections, missing app alerts, and calls that do not come through can have different causes. Note your watch model, phone model and operating-system version, and whether the issue affects all notifications or only one app. Also distinguish an alert that never arrives from one that arrives silently or fails to wake the screen. Samsung notes that menu names and available options vary by model and software version.

For recent models, check phone compatibility before repeatedly attempting to pair. Samsung’s current US compatibility table lists these minimum requirements for the named series: Samsung’s Galaxy Watch phone compatibility guidance.

Fix Bluetooth pairing or disconnections
- Turn on Bluetooth on both devices. Check the phone’s Bluetooth setting and the watch’s connection setting.
- Bring the devices close together. Samsung gives 10 m (32 ft) as the maximum Bluetooth connection range, but says the actual operating distance varies with the environment. Walls and other obstacles can reduce reliable connection distance.
- Check the app. Install or update Galaxy Wearable, then open it and follow its pairing prompts. If Bluetooth connection permissions for Google Play services were denied on the phone, review and allow the relevant permissions.
- Restart both devices. Restart the phone and watch, then reopen Galaxy Wearable and try connecting again.
- Check the connection type. A watch that has lost its nearby Bluetooth connection may still show some remote connectivity features, but that does not mean phone-linked calls and alerts are working as they should.

Restore missing app notifications
Check the main notification switch and affected app
- In Galaxy Wearable, open Watch settings > Notifications.
- Make sure notifications are enabled, then open App notifications and turn on the affected app.
- Check that the app is allowed to send notifications on the phone itself. An app whose phone notifications are disabled may not send alerts to the watch.
- If available on your model, check the watch directly under Settings > Notifications > App notifications for an app-specific setting.
Samsung’s notification guide explains these controls and notes that labels and availability can differ: Manage notifications on your Samsung smart watch.

If alerts appear only while the phone is idle
In Galaxy Wearable’s watch notification settings, inspect Phone notifications on watch and the device-selection behavior. With Smart device selection, watch notifications are suppressed while you are using the phone. If you want the alert on both devices, choose Always show on both, if your model offers it. Showing alerts on both can affect battery use.
If the alert arrives but is easy to miss
In Galaxy Wearable, check Sounds and vibration for notification volume and sound. Depending on the watch and software, notification settings may also include waking the screen or automatically showing notification details. A delivered alert that is silent or does not light the screen is a different problem from an app notification that never reaches the watch.

Troubleshoot calls, texts, and silent modes separately
For Bluetooth models, calls and texts depend on the watch being connected to the phone over Bluetooth through Galaxy Wearable. A remote Wi-Fi connection by itself does not deliver incoming calls. Check that the phone and watch are connected, then review the watch’s settings for Incoming call, Missed call, and Messages.
Also check whether Do Not Disturb, Goodnight, or Theater mode is active. These modes can silence alerts or keep the display off. Samsung’s guidance for calls and connectivity is available at Galaxy Watch connection and call troubleshooting.

Separate LTE service problems from Bluetooth problems
If you have an LTE watch, a Bluetooth notification setting will not fix a carrier activation or mobile-network issue. Contact your carrier to check activation status, account and device eligibility, coverage, roaming, data limits, call barring or forwarding, and APN settings. Carrier procedures depend on the provider and region.
Recommended Free Tools
If the LTE watch was activated using a QR code, resetting its mobile network configuration or resetting the watch may mean you need a new code from the carrier. Confirm the carrier’s reactivation process before taking a step that could interrupt service.

Update software before considering a reset
- Install available updates for the watch, Galaxy Wearable, and relevant device plugins.
- Restart the phone and watch, then test pairing and notifications again.
- If the issue remains, back up watch data before performing a reset. After the reset, reconnect the watch through Galaxy Wearable.
- For an LTE watch activated with a carrier QR code, check with the carrier about obtaining a replacement code if required.
Samsung’s reset guidance and recovery steps are covered in its Galaxy Watch connection support. If the watch is physically damaged or resetting does not resolve the problem, contact Samsung support or arrange service. For an LTE activation or network issue, contact the carrier.
