For a full-document screenshot, set fullPage: true. If the bottom is still missing, check whether the content is inside a nested scroll area, whether the page actually renders content below the fold, and whether a clip option limits the capture.
Capture the full document, not just the viewport
Playwright screenshots default to the visible viewport. Add fullPage: true to capture the document’s full scrollable page:

Check for a clipping region
Review the screenshot call for clip. Its x, y, width and height define a capture region. If the region’s height ends before the content does, it can constrain the screenshot. Remove the clip or adjust its bounds to match the area you need.

Find out what is actually scrollable
If the page’s document scrolls, use fullPage: true. If the content is inside an independently scrolling element, such as a panel with its own scrollbar, capture that element directly:

Check whether the page renders content below the fold
A viewport-constrained layout—for example, one using height: 100vh—may not have additional rendered document content below the viewport. A screenshot cannot capture content the page has not laid out. A Playwright issue discussion suggests testing with a taller viewport for the reported case, while noting that behavior depends on the page structure.
Try a larger viewport as a diagnostic
If the layout may depend on viewport height, temporarily increase it before taking the screenshot and see whether the page renders the missing content:

await expect(page).toHaveScreenshot();The dimensions are example values from that issue discussion, not a standard or guaranteed fix. If the page still does not render the content, inspect its layout and scrolling behavior rather than continuing to increase the viewport.
Use this troubleshooting sequence
- Confirm the target. For the document, call
page.screenshotwithfullPage: true. For a nested scrolling panel, screenshot its locator. - Inspect the options. Remove or correct any
clipregion whose bounds stop short of the desired content. - Inspect scrolling and layout. Identify whether the document or an element scrolls, and check for viewport-constrained styles such as
height: 100vh. - Test a taller viewport when relevant. Treat this as a diagnostic for the page’s layout, not as a universal repair.
- Make the failure reproducible. If the cause remains unclear, collect a minimal reproduction, the screenshot options, relevant scrolling and layout CSS, and the browser and Playwright version.

Why the fix depends on the page
Playwright’s full-page option applies to the document’s scrollable content; it does not change the page layout or guarantee that content hidden in a nested scroller will appear. The cited GitHub discussions describe particular historical cases, not a general defect affecting every current Playwright version. Without your page, code and browser context, there is no single cause to identify in advance.

Does Playwright capture the full page by default?
No. The documented default is a viewport screenshot; set fullPage: true for the document’s full scrollable content.

Will fullPage: true include everything inside a scrollable panel?
No. Capture the panel’s locator directly when the desired content is in a nested scroll container.
