Check what kind of PlayStation Plus game it is
Monthly Games and Catalog games have different access rules, so start by checking how you got the game.

- Monthly Game: If you claimed it while it was offered, it should be available to download and play while your membership is active. Sony’s Monthly Games instructions explain where to find the benefit; on PS4, the steps include selecting Add to Library.
- Game Catalog or Classics Catalog: Game Catalog access requires PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, and the Classics Catalog is a Premium benefit in Sony’s plan comparison. Catalog games rotate, and some have an end date. Check whether the title is still available in your region before troubleshooting its license; Sony explains that titles can leave the Game Catalog.
If you never claimed a Monthly Game while it was offered, or a Catalog title has left the service, it may no longer be available through that benefit.

1. Sign in to the account that claimed or bought the game
Confirm the console is signed into the PlayStation account that claimed the Monthly Game or purchased the title. If you bought it, check the account’s transaction history. Sony’s download troubleshooting guide covers checking the account and purchase details.

2. Confirm the membership and game entitlement
Check that the subscription is active if access depends on PlayStation Plus. For a Catalog game, confirm that your plan includes the relevant Catalog and that the game is still listed. Do not treat a Catalog title as a permanent entitlement just because you played it previously.
3. Check hidden games
A game hidden from the library may not appear in the usual list. Sony notes that hidden games are hidden in libraries on all consoles. Look in the library’s hidden-games area and unhide the title if it is there; see Sony’s download troubleshooting guide.

4. Check sharing if another account provides access
If a different account on the console owns or claimed the game, check its sharing setup. Sony directs PS5 users to Console Sharing and Offline Play and PS4 users to primary-console activation when troubleshooting shared content. Follow the steps in Sony’s download troubleshooting guide.
Restore licenses on PS5 or PS4
License restoration is worth trying when a game should be available to your account but cannot be found or accessed. It will not restore access to a Catalog title that has left the service.

- On PS5: Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses, select the affected game, then choose Restore.
- On PS4: Open Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses, then choose Restore.
PlayStation Support says, “Restoring licenses won’t affect your data.” See its license restoration instructions.
If the game appears but is locked or will not download
A visible listing with a lock, error, or failed download is different from a title that is absent from the library. After confirming the account and entitlement, check the PlayStation service status and install the latest system software. For a stalled PS5 download, pause and resume it. If that does not work, cancel and delete the download entry, then retry from the Game Library. Sony includes these steps in its download troubleshooting guide.

When to contact PlayStation Support
If the game should still be available to your account but remains missing after these checks, contact PlayStation Support. Include the error code or message, a detailed description of what happens and the steps that reproduce it, and the date and time you tried. Those details help support investigate the specific entitlement or download problem; see Sony’s troubleshooting guidance.
