If you mean remote access to a QNAP NAS through myQNAPcloud Link, first check that Link shows Normal and that the mobile app is signed in with the QNAP ID used to register the NAS. Then work through the checks below. QNAP’s cited support material describes myQNAPcloud and myQNAPcloud Link; it does not confirm “myQNAPcloud One” as the service name, so verify the name shown in your app or error before applying these steps.

First, confirm which connection is failing

These steps address the documented case where a NAS is running but a mobile device cannot connect to it remotely through myQNAPcloud Link. They are not confirmed instructions for a separate service called “myQNAPcloud One.” Record the app name, NAS operating system and version, exact error text, and whether you can reach the NAS while your phone is on the same local network.

If local access works but remote Link access does not, prioritize the Link status, QNAP ID and access permissions, NAS internet connection and clock, and Link diagnostics. That comparison helps narrow the investigation, but does not by itself prove what caused the failure.

Fix myQNAPcloud Link access step by step

  1. Update the mobile app and Link

Install any available update for the QNAP mobile app from your device’s app store. On the NAS, open App Center and update myQNAPcloud Link if an update is available. QNAP’s Link troubleshooting FAQ, last modified 2026-04-29, recommends updating both ends.

QNAP TR-004 4 Bay USB Type-C Direct Attached Storage (DAS) with hardware RAID (Diskless)
    • Direct-attached storage device via USB Type-C for Windows, macOS and Linux
    • Use the TR-004 as external storage for NAS backup
    • Expand the capacity of your QNAP NAS
    • 4 x 3.5-inch SATA 3Gb/s (Diskless)
    • Hardware RAID supports RAID 0, 1, 5, JBOD, and individual disks
  2. Re-enable Link and check its status

On the NAS, open myQNAPcloud > myQNAPcloud Link. Disable Link, enable it again, and inspect the displayed status. QNAP identifies Normal as the status indicating that the service is working correctly. If your menus differ, check the instructions for your NAS operating system and version.

  3. Verify the QNAP ID and device permissions

Check that the QNAP ID signed in to the mobile app is the same ID used to register the NAS. If the NAS uses Private or Customized access, being signed in is not enough: the intended QNAP ID must also be allowed to access the device.

For the error “You must sign in to QNAP ID to connect to this NAS”, sign in to the appropriate QNAP ID. For “The NAS is not on the QNAP ID list,” check which account registered the NAS and ask its owner to add or permit your ID through the NAS’s access-control settings. QNAP’s sign-in FAQ was last modified 2023-04-19; its FAQ on the NAS not appearing in the QNAP ID list was last modified 2023-01-11.

  4. Check the NAS internet connection and clock

Confirm that the NAS itself can access the internet, not just that your phone is online. Also check the NAS system time and time zone. QNAP lists NAS connectivity and an incorrect clock or time zone among possible causes of Link connection trouble.

QNAP recommends contacting Technical Support if those instructions do not resolve the problem.

Does myQNAPcloud Link require port forwarding?

For the setup covered by QNAP’s current FAQ, a matching QNAP ID and a Normal Link status allow a connection over the internet, including mobile data or Wi-Fi, without manually configuring port forwarding. This applies to the documented myQNAPcloud Link setup; it should not be generalized to a different service or connection method. The FAQ covers supported QTS 4.3.3+ and QuTS hero h4.5.1+ devices and was last modified 2026-07-14.

Contact QNAP Technical Support if Link Diagnostics does not fix the issue. Include the NAS model and operating-system version, app name and version, exact error, Link status, whether local access works, and the results of the diagnostic scan. These details distinguish an account or permission issue from a NAS-side connectivity or Link-service issue.
