Identify what is actually mismatched
A useful first test is to play the same passage with Neon Bloom disabled and then enabled. If the notes hit at the same musical moments but look brighter, blurrier, flicker, or harder to see, the chart is probably intact and the problem is rendering. If a note, rail, or wall is consistently placed at the wrong beat in both tests, investigate the chart file and its timing data.

No published source identifies a confirmed Neon Bloom chart-specific defect or names a particular faulty chart file. The checks below therefore separate the possible causes instead of assuming that the visual effect changed the music map.
Record the exact conditions before changing anything
Write down enough information to reproduce the mismatch. This prevents a timing problem from being confused with a selection or graphics problem.

- Platform: Quest, Steam, or another supported platform.
- Game version: include the full version label if it is shown in the game or release notes, such as 3.6.5a1, 3.6.7a1, or 3.6.7a2.
- Chart source: say whether Neon Bloom is an official song entry or a custom song, and where the file came from.
- Difficulty and arrangement: Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert, or the exact label used by the chart.
- Timestamp: note the song time where the first divergence occurs. A video or a time-stamped screen recording is useful.
- Symptom: distinguish a note that is physically on the wrong beat from a note that is correctly timed but obscured, glowing, or flickering.
Do not edit the only copy while you are still diagnosing the issue. A wrong adjustment to the beat grid can make every later note appear incorrect.
Reproduce the passage with Neon Bloom off and on
- Open the game’s graphics settings and set Settings > Advanced Graphics > Neon Bloom Effect to Off, or to the lowest available setting.
- Play the problem section and record the exact note, rail, or wall that appears wrong. Compare it with the music rather than with its glow or trail.
- Enable Neon Bloom and repeat the same section without changing difficulty, audio, or comfort settings.
- If only brightness, halos, flicker, or contrast changes, treat the issue as visual. If the object’s beat or location changes, continue with chart-file checks.
The Synth Riders Team’s version 3.6.7a1 announcement says Neon Bloom is controlled through this settings path and defaults to Low on Quest and Steam Frame. It describes glow applied to notes, rails, walls, the player platform, controller orbs, and stage lights. Those are rendering changes, not a documented transformation of chart coordinates.
Make sure the game loaded the intended Neon Bloom chart
A surprisingly common explanation for an apparently damaged chart is that the game opened another file with the same visible title. Version 3.6.5a1 notes document a fix for restarting into a different song that shared the same name. The same notes mention a fix for Custom Experiences failing to load. That history makes duplicate names and stale copies worth checking, even if your symptom is a note mismatch.

- Open the song information panel and compare the title, author, difficulty, and arrangement with the chart you intended to test.
- If you maintain several downloads or edits, compare their file timestamps and names outside the game. Give each working copy a distinct filename while diagnosing it.
- Load the chart once as a clean custom-song selection, then jump to the recorded timestamp. Do not compare one passage from a cached version with another passage from a newly edited file.
- After making an edit, remove ambiguity by copying only the verified file into the game’s custom-song location and checking that its timestamp changes.
If the wrong arrangement is loaded, changing note positions in the editor will not fix the song that you actually played. Confirm the identity of the chart before touching its timing.

Back up the chart and open a working copy in the official editor
The official Synth Riders Beatmap Editor is a free Windows tool for taking music and choreographing movements to match. Its purpose is to place notes, walls, and rails so they synchronize with the music and can be loaded as a custom song in Synth Riders.
The editor releases described in the public announcements are labeled alpha or beta and warn that testers may not have encountered every bug. Create at least two copies:
- Original: never edit this file.
- Working copy: the file you open and modify.
- Export copy: a separately saved version that you place in the game for testing.
Use a filename that records the change, such as a date and difficulty, so you can revert without guessing which copy is which. Keep the audio file paired with the chart version that was authored for it; changing audio or BPM while correcting a note can create a second, unrelated timing error.
Align the audio and beat grid
- Open the working copy in the Beatmap Editor and load the matching audio.
- Check the first downbeat and the BPM or beat-grid settings before inspecting individual objects.
- Play through the affected section in the editor. Determine whether every object after a point is shifted by a fixed amount, or whether only selected notes are misplaced.
- If the entire passage is offset by the same amount, correct the timing alignment or audio offset rather than dragging each note independently.
- If only particular notes, rails, or walls are wrong, select those objects and compare their beat positions with the surrounding pattern.
A fixed shift normally points to grid or timing alignment. Isolated errors are more consistent with object placement, an incomplete edit, or a damaged chart section.

Use the editor’s checking and movement tools
The public-alpha change list includes auto backups, error scanning, rounding-error fixes, split and join rails, group move, paste with BPM, and object highlighting. The exact controls can vary with the editor build, so use the functions present in your installed version:
- Object highlighting: make the suspect note or rail obvious while you compare it with the beat grid.
- Error scanning: run the scan after selecting or moving objects, then inspect every reported item rather than accepting an automatic correction blindly.
- Rounding checks: use the rounding-error repair where available when an object appears to sit between expected beat values.
- Split and join rails: repair a rail’s segments without rebuilding the entire passage.
- Group move: move a deliberately grouped phrase when the whole phrase is offset, preserving its internal spacing.
- Paste with BPM: use this only when the copied material and destination are meant to share the same BPM interpretation; otherwise it can transfer the wrong timing relationship.
Save, close, and reopen the working copy after a meaningful correction. Reopening catches edits that look present in memory but were not written to disk.
Fix timing, playback desynchronization, and ghost notes
If the notes look correct in the editor but play at the wrong moment, investigate playback behavior before moving chart objects. The public-beta notes document a playback-desynchronization fix and say that the timing method was changed to address desynchronization. Test the current editor build you have, and reproduce the section after a clean reload.

- Compare the editor’s metronome or beat grid with the audio at the beginning, middle, and end of the song.
- Check whether the offset is constant or grows over time. A constant offset suggests alignment; a growing difference suggests a timing or playback-rate problem.
- Close other audio-intensive applications while testing and avoid judging timing from a paused or repeatedly restarted preview.
- Reload the chart after saving and verify the same timestamp in the game. If the editor and game disagree, preserve both copies and record the exact versions.
When deleted notes still make sounds
The beta notes specifically mention a ghost-note fix: deleted notes should no longer give audio cues. If a removed object still produces a cue, save the chart, close the editor, and perform a clean reload rather than deleting it repeatedly. Test with the latest editor build available to you. If the cue persists only in one copy, compare that file with the backup; if it persists after a clean reload, treat it as a reproducible editor or game issue.

Save safely and verify the file that the game reads
Save problems can make a correct edit appear ineffective. The release notes describe save-function changes intended to resolve save issues, but antivirus software, permissions, or a file opened by another program can still interfere.
- Use Save As or the editor’s equivalent to write a new export copy instead of overwriting the original.
- Close media players, file synchronizers, archive tools, and other editors that might hold the chart or audio file open.
- Check that the destination folder is writable. If the save operation reports an error, do not assume that a partially written file is usable.
- Temporarily inspect antivirus or security-software notifications for a blocked or quarantined file, following your system’s normal safety procedures.
- Close the editor, reopen the export copy, and confirm that the corrected note is still corrected.
- Copy that verified file into the game’s custom-song location. Confirm the filename and timestamp there, then launch the game and select that exact entry.
The final copy step is a practical safeguard: a successfully saved editor file cannot change gameplay if the game is still loading an older file from another folder.
Handle Neon Bloom flicker or visibility problems as graphics issues
If disabling Neon Bloom makes the notes readable and their timing is unchanged, do not rebuild the chart. Adjust the graphics setting and test the affected stage. The 3.6.7a1 notes say the effect can illuminate notes, rails, walls, the platform, controller orbs, and stage lights; those surfaces can look different without any chart-data change.

Version 3.6.7a2 notes report a fix for flickering white dots on The Lost City when Neon Bloom is enabled. If your symptom matches that visual defect, update the game to a build containing the fix when your platform provides it. If the flicker occurs elsewhere, record the stage, platform, game version, Neon Bloom level, and whether it disappears when the effect is disabled.
Use the lowest setting that preserves comfortable visibility while diagnosing. A visual-only workaround is preferable to changing note coordinates, because moving chart objects to compensate for bloom can make the arrangement objectively mistimed for players who use a different graphics level.
Choose the repair path by symptom

Report a reproducible editor or game bug
If the mismatch remains after a verified clean reload, report it with enough detail for someone else to reproduce. The official editor announcement asks reporters to explain what they were doing, whether the problem reproduces, and how to reproduce it; it also says video can help narrow the cause.
- Platform and game version.
- Beatmap Editor version and operating-system version.
- Chart title, author, difficulty, and whether it is official or custom.
- The exact timestamp and the note, rail, or wall affected.
- Whether Neon Bloom was enabled, disabled, or set to Low.
- The original, edited, and exported filenames, without replacing the original backup.
- Exact reproduction steps, including whether a restart or clean song selection was used.
- A short video showing the music, object, and settings when possible.
Do not describe a visual bloom artifact as a chart-coordinate bug unless the object remains mistimed or misplaced with Neon Bloom disabled. That distinction gives maintainers a testable report and protects the playable chart from unnecessary edits.
