Error code 0064 in Minecraft Dungeons 2 is a sign-in or access failure, and the most practical first step is to make sure your Windows clock is correct, your Microsoft gaming apps are up to date, and Minecraft Launcher is repaired, then restart and launch through the platform that owns your copy of the game. No official source explains what 0064 technically means, and no single fix is documented to work in every case, so treat the sequence below as a checklist rather than a guaranteed cure.
What the official response recommends
The clearest guidance comes from a Microsoft Q&A thread asking specifically about error 0064. A Microsoft External Staff moderator answered with a short set of checks. The game is titled Minecraft Dungeons II in Microsoft’s reply, which is the name you will see on the store listing, and the moderator’s advice applies to Windows PCs. Those checks are the core of this article.

Details to note before you start
The moderator asked for information that makes the difference between a generic fix and a targeted one. Write these down before you change anything:

- The full error text: the complete message, not only the code.
- Timing: whether the error appears before or after you sign in with your Microsoft account.
Step-by-step fix, in order
Work through these steps in sequence and test the game after each one. The first three are low-effort and affect time, updates and the launcher, so they are the right place to begin.

Sync the Windows clock. Open Settings, go to Time & language, then Date & time. Turn on automatic time and automatic time zone, then select Sync now. An incorrect clock can cause sign-in problems, and this is the first check the moderator recommended.

Update the Microsoft gaming apps. Open the Microsoft Store, select Library, then Get updates. Install any available updates for Minecraft Launcher, the Xbox app, Gaming Services and Xbox Game Bar. Install the updates even if you believe they are current, because the moderator listed all four.

Repair Minecraft Launcher. Open Settings, go to Apps, then Installed apps. Find Minecraft Launcher, select it, open Advanced options, and choose Repair.

Restart the PC. A full restart is needed so that the time change, the updates and the repair all take effect before the next launch.

Launch from the platform that owns the game. If you bought the game on Steam, start it from Steam. If you bought it through Minecraft Launcher or the Xbox app, start it from there. Launching from a different platform than the one that holds your license can produce access errors.
Check the owning account if the error concerns access
If the error appears during or after sign-in, or the message refers to ownership, the account is the next thing to verify. Minecraft’s official ownership guidance asks you to confirm three things:

- The Microsoft account used to buy the game is the same account signed into the Xbox app.
- The same account is signed into the Microsoft Store.
- The same account is signed into Minecraft Launcher.
If the accounts do not match, sign out of the mismatched app and sign in with the purchasing account. If you are unsure which account bought the game, check the order history on your Microsoft account. This check matters only when the error concerns access or licensing. Account mismatch is one possible cause of ownership messages, but the official guidance does not say it explains every 0064 report.

Several other posts discuss this error. They are useful for context, but none of them establishes a cause.
An AMD driver update
The author of the Microsoft Q&A thread later wrote that updating AMD graphics drivers fixed error 0064 on their own device, while cautioning that it might not work for anyone else. The moderator acknowledged the report but did not confirm it, and also did not confirm the author’s suggestion that a service interruption explained a later ownership message. Treat the driver update as one player’s experience. It is reasonable to check that your graphics drivers are current, but nothing in the official guidance says that a driver update resolves the error.

A possible network problem
An October 2 post on the Minecraft Feedback forum describes a player who had access problems over several days. A commenter suggested the cause might be network conditions, but said they were not certain. The post shows that other players have reported the same error. It does not show that a network fault caused it, and no status incident was identified in the sources reviewed.
Guidance from a third-party guide
A Beebom guide updated September 29, 2026 lists launcher repair, clock synchronization, signing back into Microsoft, Xbox app updates, checking the Steam or Xbox account link for Steam players, and reinstalling the game as possible steps. The guide says plainly that there is no guaranteed solution. Its suggestions match the official checks above, so they are useful as a second opinion, but they do not replace the official sequence.
Reinstalling and other secondary steps
Reinstalling is listed in the guide mentioned above, but it is a later step, not a first one. Reinstalling discards the local files without addressing the clock, the apps or the account, so it makes sense only after the steps above have been tried. If you choose to reinstall, uninstall the game through the platform you use to launch it, restart, and reinstall from the same platform, then sign in with the purchasing account.

When to contact Minecraft Support
If the error persists after the clock sync, the app updates, the launcher repair, the restart and the account check, contact Minecraft Support. The Microsoft moderator gave this advice directly:
“If the issue continues after these checks, I recommend contacting Minecraft Support because the error may require them to verify the game’s sign-in or ownership status.”
When you contact support, include the platform you launch from, the full error message, and whether the error appears before or after you sign in. Those are the details the moderator asked you to provide.
What is not known
No official source explains what error 0064 means technically, and no published figure shows how often it occurs or how often these steps succeed. Do not assume the error is caused by a Microsoft outage, a specific server service, or a graphics driver fault, because the official guidance does not establish any of these. The sequence above is the practical path that the official sources recommend, and the outcome may differ from one account and one device to another.
