If Warframe cannot place you in a Taubound mission, first identify exactly where the attempt fails: an empty Public Matchmaking queue, a “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING” warning, an endless loading screen, a disconnect after host migration, or a return to the Orbiter. Those symptoms point to different fixes.
Work through the checks in this order: make every squad member’s Cross Platform Play setting known, correct Strict NAT or UDP-port conflicts, run Warframe’s network test and the IPv6 diagnostic when the warning appears, then isolate a Duviri game-state or host-migration failure. Keep the platform, squad size, transition point, and time of each test; that information is what support needs if the problem persists.

Start by identifying the failure point
“Taubound” problems are easier to solve when you record the transition that fails instead of treating every failed join as a general connection issue. Before changing settings, write down the following:
- What you see: no players in Public Matchmaking, a “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING” message, a loading screen that never finishes, a disconnect after host migration, or a return to the Orbiter.
- Where it happens: Teshin’s Cave, the portal into a mission, the Undercroft, extraction, or another specific transition.
- Who is affected: one player, everyone in the squad, or only players on another platform.
- Session details: platform (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or mobile), squad size, whether Cross Platform Play is enabled, and whether the same player can join another mission.
Run one controlled test after each change. For example, have the same two players attempt the same mission first through Public Matchmaking and then through a direct invite. Changing several router and game settings at once makes it impossible to tell which condition mattered.

Check Cross Platform Play before changing your network
Warframe’s Cross Platform Play allows missions across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile through squads or Public Matchmaking. The setting is controlled in the game’s Options menu. A mismatch in the squad’s settings can look like a matchmaking failure even when the internet connection is healthy.
Use a consistent test
- Ask every player to open Options and record whether Cross Platform Play is enabled or disabled.
- For the first test, put the whole squad in the same state. Do not have one player silently switch the setting between attempts.
- Try a direct invite. If the invite works but Public Matchmaking remains empty, record that difference; it separates a matchmaking-path problem from a basic inability to connect.
- Repeat once with a same-platform squad if one is available. Keep the platform and Cross Platform Play state in your notes.
Do not assume that disabling cross-play is a permanent fix. It is a diagnostic comparison. If only cross-platform attempts fail, include the platform combination and both players’ settings in a support report. If same-platform and cross-platform attempts fail at the same transition, move on to NAT, ports, or game-state checks.
Resolve Strict NAT and router reachability
Warframe’s Strict NAT warning says: “Warframe has detected your network is suffering from a Strict NAT, this will cause you problems when connecting to games, using voice chat or seeing friends on your contact list as online.” This condition can prevent players from contacting one another even though web browsing appears normal.

If several devices play on the same connection
Multiple PCs and consoles sharing one router can contribute to NAT conflicts. Check whether the problem appears only when another household device is online. Test with unnecessary consoles, PCs, and voice or peer-to-peer applications disconnected from the network. If the issue disappears, the router is handling simultaneous mappings poorly; document the number and type of devices when you contact your internet provider or router manufacturer.
If your router supports UPnP or NAT-PMP
Warframe’s Strict NAT guidance includes UPnP and NAT-PMP branches. Open the router’s administration interface and verify which automatic port-mapping feature it supports. Enable only the feature appropriate to that router, save the change, restart the router, and then restart Warframe. Check the in-game network status again. If your network policy forbids automatic port mapping, do not enable it just for a test; use the manual or unchangeable-router branch instead.
If the router cannot be changed
Some players are on campus, apartment, mobile, work, or managed broadband networks where router settings are unavailable. You cannot correct the upstream NAT from Warframe’s menus. Record the Strict NAT message, the network type, and whether other online games have the same problem. Ask the network administrator or internet provider whether inbound peer connections are restricted and whether a less restrictive NAT service is available.
NAT problems commonly affect joining, voice chat, and the contact list at the same time. If only one repeatable Duviri loading transition fails while friends remain visible and voice works, prioritize the game-state checks later in this guide instead of repeatedly resetting the router.

Check Warframe’s UDP ports on PC
The official Ports In Use guidance states: “WARFRAME USES UDP PORTS 4950 AND 4955 by default.” A different application using those ports can interfere with the contact list, matchmaking, and voice communication.
Find and remove a conflict
- Close unnecessary background applications before launching Warframe.
- Pay particular attention to torrent software and other peer-to-peer tools that may use NAT-PMP. Exit them completely, not merely their visible window.
- Restart Warframe and test the same Taubound join again.
- If the failure remains, check whether another required application is binding the default UDP ports. Do not disable security software broadly; identify the specific conflict where possible.
Change Warframe’s ports
On PC, open Options > Gameplay and locate Network Ports [UDP]. Change the values to unused UDP ports, apply the setting, restart the game, and repeat the same matchmaking test. Record both the old and new values for support. Choose ports that are not already assigned by another game or service and avoid changing them repeatedly between tests.
Console and mobile players do not have the PC port field. Their equivalent checks are router/NAT status, other devices using the connection, platform details, and evidence from the failed transition.

Handle “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING” as a network-path warning
Warframe Support defines “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING” as a case where the connection between the player’s PC or console and Warframe’s servers is unstable or takes too long to respond. It is not proof that Taubound itself is broken, and it is not automatically proof that the game servers are offline.

Run the connection and IPv6 checks
- Use Warframe’s built-in network test or the diagnostic path recommended by Support and note the result.
- If the diagnostic indicates an IPv6 problem, follow the official IPv6 troubleshooting steps for your platform.
- Temporarily disable IPv6 only when that test points to IPv6 as the cause. Test Taubound, then restore IPv6 if the test does not improve or if other applications require it.
- Compare Warframe with another online game and with a streaming service on the same connection.
If other games and streaming also fail or stall, contact your internet service provider. Give the provider the time of the failures, whether the issue affects wired and wireless devices, and the diagnostic results. If only Warframe is affected, preserve the game version, platform, and logs for Warframe Support rather than claiming an ISP outage.
Separate a network problem from a Duviri game-state problem
Taubound missions use Duviri entry and transition points. The Duviri Paradox provides three modes—The Duviri Experience, The Lone Story, and The Circuit—and each begins from Teshin’s Cave. The Circuit is an endless Undercroft mode. A failure that repeats at one of these stages can be a game-state or host-transition issue rather than a local bandwidth problem.
Use solo and public tests
- Install the current Warframe build on every platform involved. Official Duviri patch notes have recorded fixes for a rare matchmaking bug and for clients stuck in a loading tunnel after host migration; an outdated client can reproduce a condition already fixed.
- Launch the same Duviri mode solo, when the mode permits it, and note whether the portal and loading transition complete.
- Attempt the mission with a premade squad and then with Public Matchmaking. Keep the host the same for the first comparison.
- If the failure follows a host migration, record who was host, when the migration occurred, and whether the client was in the portal, loading tunnel, Undercroft, or extraction sequence.
- Repeat once with a different host. A failure that follows one host or one transition is different evidence from a failure that affects every squad.
Do not label the issue a confirmed Taubound-specific bug unless Warframe publishes an official notice identifying it. The patch history establishes that Duviri matchmaking and host-migration failures have occurred, not that every current loading problem has the same cause.
Use the symptom to choose the next branch
| Observed symptom | Most useful first checks | Evidence to capture |
|---|---|---|
| Public queue stays empty | Cross Platform Play consistency, direct invite, Strict NAT, UDP conflicts on PC | Platform, cross-play state, queue time, squad size, and whether an invite works |
| “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING” | Warframe network test, IPv6 diagnostic, comparison with other games and streaming | Exact warning, diagnostic result, time, and whether other services fail |
| Infinite loading screen before the mission | Update all clients, test solo versus public, check whether the stage is Teshin’s Cave, portal, or Undercroft | Video or screenshots, build information, and the exact transition |
| Disconnect after host migration | Repeat with a different host, note migration timing, verify all clients are updated | Host identity, migration point, error text, and squad platforms |
| Return to the Orbiter | Compare direct invite, public matchmaking, and solo; inspect NAT and network warnings | What happened immediately before the return and whether every player was removed |
Platform-specific troubleshooting
PC
PC players have the widest set of direct diagnostics. They can change Network Ports [UDP] under Options > Gameplay, close applications competing for UDP 4950 or 4955, run the IPv6 test, and attach the Warframe EE.log to a support request. Keep the log from a session that actually reproduced the failure; an unrelated older log may not contain the relevant transition.
Best Value
Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile
These platforms can use Cross Platform Play with the other supported platforms, but they do not expose the PC UDP-port field. Concentrate on the Cross Platform Play comparison, router and NAT status, the number of devices sharing the connection, and a short recording of the loading or disconnect sequence. Include the exact platform model and operating-system or game-build information available in the client.
If a console or mobile device works on a different network but not at home, preserve both results. That comparison is more useful than repeatedly reinstalling the game because it points toward the home router, NAT, or ISP path.
Escalate with a reproducible report
When the checks do not resolve the problem, submit a report to Warframe Support with enough detail to reproduce the transition. Cross Platform Play reports should identify the platform, include screenshots or video, and, for PC, attach the EE.log. If the crash reporter supplies a WAR number, include it.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Include these details
- Platform for every affected player and whether each uses PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or mobile.
- Cross Platform Play state for each player during the failed attempt.
- Warframe build or update status and the Duviri mode: The Duviri Experience, The Lone Story, or The Circuit.
- Squad size, who was host, and whether the attempt used Public Matchmaking or a direct invite.
- The exact transition: Teshin’s Cave, portal, loading tunnel, Undercroft, extraction, or return to the Orbiter.
- Exact wording of any warning, including “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING” or Strict NAT.
- Date and time in UTC or your local time zone, how often the failure reproduced, and what changed between successful and failed attempts.
- Video or screenshots showing the loading state or error. On PC, attach the EE.log from the reproduced session; add the WAR number when available.
Describe what you tested without presenting guesses as facts: for example, “same-platform invite succeeded, cross-platform Public Matchmaking failed,” or “the disconnect occurred immediately after host migration with the client in the loading tunnel.” That wording lets support distinguish a network path from a game-state transition.
What not to do
- Do not disable IPv6 permanently when the diagnostic does not implicate it.
- Do not change UDP ports randomly while torrent or NAT-PMP software remains active; remove the conflict first.
- Do not assume turning off Cross Platform Play fixes the underlying connection. Use it as a controlled comparison and report the result.
- Do not buy networking hardware as a guaranteed remedy. The documented causes include NAT policy, port conflicts, IPv6 behavior, ISP instability, and Duviri host-transition bugs; a new cable or router may not address any of them.
- Do not attribute every infinite loading screen to a player’s hardware. Official Duviri patch notes show that matchmaking and host-migration loading failures have also required game fixes.
A concise decision sequence
- Classify the symptom and transition. Write down the exact warning or screen and whether the failure occurs in Teshin’s Cave, the portal, the Undercroft, extraction, or after migration.
- Normalize the squad. Record platform and Cross Platform Play state for every player; test a direct invite and, if possible, a same-platform squad.
- Check NAT. Follow the Strict NAT branch for UPnP, NAT-PMP, multiple devices, or an unchangeable router.
- On PC, check ports. Close torrent and other peer-to-peer software, then change Options > Gameplay > Network Ports [UDP] only if 4950 or 4955 is occupied.
- Investigate “NETWORK NOT RESPONDING.” Run the connection test, follow the IPv6 diagnostic, and involve the ISP when other online services fail too.
- Isolate game state. Update every client, compare solo, premade, and Public Matchmaking, and repeat with a different host if migration is involved.
- Escalate with evidence. Send platform, timestamps, screenshots or video, the EE.log on PC, and any WAR number.
This sequence keeps local network symptoms separate from cross-platform routing and repeatable Duviri transition failures, which is the fastest way to reach the right fix or obtain a useful support investigation.
