If Nivalis Nights is running slowly or stuttering, start with the developer’s low-risk checks: lower the graphics preset, update your graphics driver, close background applications, and verify the game files in Steam. Laptop players should also connect to AC power, select Windows Best Performance, and confirm the game is using its dedicated GPU. These steps are recommended by the developer, but no official source quantifies how much FPS any one change will add.
First, identify when performance drops
Before changing settings, note whether FPS is consistently low or whether the game stutters intermittently. Record where it happens and whether it starts after a long session or after fast travel. Those patterns matter: the developer has acknowledged variable frame rates in areas with many NPCs, performance degradation after long sessions, and a remaining issue affecting some systems after fast travel.

A symptom alone does not establish whether the cause is the CPU, GPU, memory, or another part of your setup. Avoid buying hardware based only on a general report of stuttering.

Try the developer’s recommended fixes
- Lower the graphics preset. In the game’s graphics settings, reduce Graphics Quality, then adjust individual options if you want to find a workable balance.
- Update your graphics driver. Install the latest driver available for your GPU from its manufacturer, then try the game again.
- Close background applications. Shut down unnecessary apps and overlays before launching the game.
- Verify the game files in Steam. Open Steam Library, right-click Nivalis Nights, choose Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files, and let Steam complete its check.
- Restart the game or PC if needed. A restart is one of the developer’s troubleshooting suggestions.
The developer does not promise a specific FPS improvement from these steps. If the problem continues, compare your PC with the official targets below and check whether the timing matches a known game-side issue.
#1 Best Overall
- Powered by Radeon RX 9070 XT
- WINDFORCE Cooling System
- Hawk Fan
- Server-grade Thermal Conductive Gel
- RGB Lighting
On a laptop, check power and GPU selection
- Connect the laptop to AC power.
- In Windows, select the Best Performance power mode.
- Confirm that Nivalis Nights is assigned to the laptop’s dedicated GPU rather than integrated graphics.
Use the laptop GPU equivalents listed by the publisher when comparing hardware. A laptop GPU’s model name does not mean it performs like a desktop GPU with a similar name.
Compare your PC with the official performance targets
ION LANDS and 505 Games list the following targets for 2026. They are publisher requirements, not a guarantee of identical results in every scene or on every PC. The developer notes that performance can vary with drivers, settings, and other running software.
Rank #2
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
| Publisher target | Resolution and frame rate | Graphics preset | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p at 30 FPS | Very Low | Native resolution, no upscaling; 16 GB RAM; 42 GB available storage on an SSD |
| Recommended | 1440p at 60 FPS | High | Native resolution, no upscaling; 16 GB RAM; 42 GB available storage on an SSD |
Check the complete official system requirements for the listed CPU and GPU models, including laptop equivalents. If your PC is below the target for your chosen resolution and preset, reduce settings and resolution expectations before considering an upgrade. The requirements specify an SSD, but do not establish that moving a game from a hard drive to an SSD will cure general low FPS or stuttering.

Frame-rate changes in crowded areas
The official developer account says: “Performance: frame rate can vary in areas with lots of NPCs.” If slowdowns are concentrated in crowded locations, that behavior has been acknowledged by the developer; it does not by itself prove your PC is below specification.
Rank #3
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Performance drops after a long session
The developer suggests restarting after several hours or trying performance power mode. These are suggestions, not guaranteed fixes, and the source does not quantify their effect.
Performance changes after fast travel
In its October 2, 2026 update notes, the developer said fast travel to some locations can affect performance on some systems. The stated workaround is to save after reaching the destination and reload that save. The notes say a fix is being worked on, so this issue should not be treated as resolved.
Rank #4
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
What the October updates changed
The October 1 and October 2, 2026 update notes describe several performance-related changes, but provide no measured FPS gains. They are useful context, not evidence that a particular setting will improve performance by a specific amount.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstall- October 1, Update #1: reported performance improvements for character actions, animations, and physics; fixed a camera issue that could make performance gradually worsen each time a save was loaded; and corrected a Level of Detail slider issue that could cause visual artifacts when set to zero.
- October 2, Update #2: reported reduced bone weights on lower-LOD character models and added a Lighting Details slider that limits active lights in view by distance. Lowering the slider deactivates lights based on distance; the notes give no FPS delta.
The October 2 notes also describe the remaining fast-travel issue and save/reload workaround above. See the official October update notes for the changes.

Upscaling and cloud play
The game’s FAQ says it currently has no DLSS, FSR, or other upscaling support. The developer says future support was being evaluated, but has not promised a delivery date. The official targets are therefore stated at native resolution with no upscaling.
The FAQ confirms that Nivalis Nights is available through GeForce NOW. Cloud play is an alternative to test if local performance is inadequate, but check current access and terms yourself: the official information cited here does not establish regional availability, subscription conditions, latency, or guaranteed FPS.
Prepare useful information before contacting support
If the problem remains, collect details that help distinguish a repeatable game issue from a system-specific one:
- What happened, where it happened, and the steps that led to it.
- Your system specifications.
- A screenshot or video, if possible.
- Whether the issue followed a long session, a save load, or fast travel.
For Windows, prepare a DxDiag report and copy Player.log and Player-prev.log from %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalLowION LANDSNivalis Nights before relaunching the game. Each launch replaces older logs, so copy them first. Steam Deck users should identify the device; the developer’s Known Issues post says they do not need to provide DxDiag. The FAQ also recommends saving manually before quitting.
For current troubleshooting guidance, consult the official FAQ and Known Issues post. Performance status can change with updates; the latest patch information covered here is dated October 2, 2026.
