Start by identifying your Logitech speaker model and the connection in use—Bluetooth, AUX, or USB—and check that the system is powered, unmuted, set to the right input, and receiving audio from your computer or phone. The steps below are model-specific where noted: Logitech documents these checks for the Z407 and distortion checks for the wired Z623. Other Logitech models may use different controls and indicators.
Before troubleshooting, identify the model and input
Find the model name on the speakers or subwoofer, then note whether the source is connected by Bluetooth, AUX, or USB. Check that audio is playing on the source device, its output is set to the Logitech speakers, and both the source and speaker volume are at an audible level with mute off.

For the Z407, Logitech says the system defaults to its last-used connection. Its indicator shows the selected input: blue for Bluetooth, purple for AUX, and white for USB. Switch inputs using the dial buttons; these colors and controls are specific to the Z407, not a universal Logitech standard. Logitech Z407 connection guide

For Z407 AUX troubleshooting, Logitech suggests setting both the source and speaker volume to medium (50%). This is a troubleshooting suggestion for that model and input, not a calibrated or universal setting. Logitech Z407 connection guide

Logitech speakers have no sound
Check Bluetooth on the Z407
Confirm the expected phone or computer is connected. The Z407 can connect to two devices at once, so another connected device may be the source of unexpected playback. To enter pairing mode, hold the dial’s Bluetooth button for two seconds, then choose Logi Z407 from the source device’s Bluetooth menu. Logitech says the Z407 can pair with up to eight source devices and connect to two simultaneously. Logitech Z407 connection guide
If it is connected but silent, move the source closer, move other wireless sources away, and restart both the source and speakers. If needed, remove or forget the Z407 in the source device’s Bluetooth settings and pair again. Logitech Z407 no-audio guidance

Check AUX on the Z407
- Verify the Z407 is set to AUX.
- Reseat both ends of the cable, checking that they are firmly connected.
- Use a 3-pole male-to-male 3.5 mm cable, as specified in Logitech’s Z407 connection guidance.
- Try another AUX cable and another source device, if available. If the second source works, the original source or its output settings may be the issue.
These checks follow Logitech’s Z407 no-audio guidance and connection guide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCheck USB on the Z407
- Set the Z407 to USB and confirm the computer is sending playback to the Z407 rather than another output device.
- Reseat the USB cable. Try another compatible cable, USB port, or computer to isolate the fault.
- Unplug the speakers for about 10 seconds, reconnect them, and restart the computer if playback does not return.
- If Windows does not recognize the speakers, check whether the Z407 appears in Device Manager and check the relevant device and audio driver. Reconnect, reboot, and test playback.
Logitech recommends checking the device and driver on Windows, but that guidance does not establish that a separate Logitech audio-driver download is required. The documented checks are in Logitech’s Z407 no-audio guidance, connection guide, and Windows recognition guidance.

Logitech speakers are crackling or distorted
For Bluetooth-connected Z407 speakers
Move the source closer to the speakers and reduce nearby wireless interference. Logitech also recommends restarting the source and speakers, then pairing again if needed. Its Z407 guidance puts it plainly: “Move the other sources of wireless signal away — you could be experiencing interference.” Logitech Z407 distortion and dropout guidance
For AUX or USB-connected Z407 speakers
Check that the cable is secure and undamaged, and try another source device. For AUX, test another 3-pole 3.5 mm cable; for USB, try another cable or port. Adjust source and speaker volume to a moderate level to see whether distortion changes. These are troubleshooting checks, not proof that a particular cable or device is defective. For the wired Z623
Check the source-to-speaker and speaker-to-subwoofer connections. Look for loose plugs, damaged cables, or corrosion on connectors. The Z623 is a wired 2.1 system; its specifications do not list Bluetooth, so Bluetooth pairing steps do not apply. Logitech Z623 distortion guidance · Logitech Z623 specifications
If only one Z623 satellite distorts, swap the two satellite connections at the subwoofer. If the distortion moves with the speaker, that speaker may be defective; if it stays with the connection, the cable or connector may be involved. This is a diagnostic clue, not a definitive test or repair. Logitech Z623 distortion guidance

Logitech audio keeps cutting out
First determine whether the interruption affects all audio or only internet streaming. Logitech notes that streaming playback can cut out because of the internet connection rather than the speakers. Test a locally stored audio file or another source; if that plays continuously, investigate the streaming service or network connection. Logitech Z407 no-audio guidance
For Bluetooth Z407 dropouts, move the source closer and other wireless devices farther away, restart both ends, and pair again if needed. For AUX or USB, reseat the cable and test a different cable, port, or source device. Changing one item at a time makes it easier to tell whether the interruption follows the input, source, or connection. Logitech Z407 dropout guidance
When the basic checks do not fix it
If the same symptom persists across a different source and a known-good connection, the published checks do not establish whether the cause is an internal speaker fault, amplifier problem, or another issue. Avoid opening the system or assuming a specific component has failed. Find the support page for the exact model and follow its service guidance; the available model-specific steps here cover Z407 no-audio, distortion, and dropouts, and Z623 distortion—not every Logitech system or hardware repair.
