Start with the reversible fixes: close other apps, force-close and reopen Thrifty Business, restart the phone, update the game and iOS or Android, check free storage, and test a stable connection. On Android, clear only the game’s cache—not its data. Before deleting or reinstalling anything, verify that your save is linked to the same Apple/Game Center, Google Play Games, or in-game account used previously. If progress is local and unlinked, clearing storage or uninstalling may make recovery impossible.
The steps below separate frame-rate lag, freezes, crashes, loading failures, and missing saves so you can troubleshoot without risking a working file.

First, identify exactly what is failing
“Lag” can mean several different problems. A game that renders slowly needs a different fix from one that closes to the home screen or forgets progress. Reproduce the issue once, note what you see, and test another demanding app or game on the same phone.

If several unrelated apps are also slow or crashing, investigate the phone’s heat, storage, or operating system before treating this as a Thrifty Business-only bug. If only this game fails, concentrate on its installation, account, and connection state.

Protect your save before changing anything
Thrifty Business is a single-player shop-management game from Spellgarden Games. The App Store listing indicates Game Center support, but the available official information does not document every detail of the game’s save architecture. Do not assume that “single-player” means the save is automatically backed up.
Check the account currently active
- iPhone or iPad: open the device’s Game Center profile and confirm it is the Apple account you used when the progress was created.
- Android: open Google Play Games and check the active account. If several Google accounts are on the phone, the game may be opening under the wrong one.
- In-game account: if Thrifty Business displays a sign-in or account indicator, record which account is shown before signing out.
Google explains that some games autosave when you are signed in to the Google Play Games mobile app, but not every game does. Google also states that it does not manage individual game accounts or in-app data; the developer controls those records. Therefore, a Play Games profile by itself is not proof that this title’s local save has been uploaded.
What not to do yet
- Do not choose Clear data or Clear storage on Android while the save is unverified.
- Do not delete the iPhone or iPad app simply to test whether a clean install helps.
- Do not uninstall on either platform until you have confirmed the same account can restore progress, or you have an independent backup.
Take a screenshot of the account screen and note your approximate progress, shop layout, and the last session that worked. Those details help support distinguish an account mismatch from a damaged local file.

Perform the following in order. After each step, open the game and test the same action that previously caused trouble. Stop when the problem is gone; unnecessary resets create avoidable save risk.
- Close background apps. Open the recent-apps view and dismiss video, camera, browser, navigation, and other memory-heavy apps. Leave enough free memory for the game to load its shop and customer scenes.
- Force-close and reopen the game. Do not merely switch away from it. Remove Thrifty Business from the recent-apps screen, wait a few seconds, and launch it again.
- Restart the phone. A full restart clears temporary processes and is safer than deleting game files.
- Install available game updates. Use the App Store or Google Play listing. Read the version number and release notes, then test after the update finishes.
- Update iOS or Android when compatible. Install the operating-system update only when the device has sufficient battery and storage. If the game was built for an older OS, check whether the developer lists compatibility before upgrading an older phone.
- Check usable free storage. Remove unrelated downloads or recordings if storage is nearly full. A phone can show free space but still fail when it needs temporary space to unpack an update.
- Test the connection. If loading or account services fail, try a reliable Wi-Fi network and then mobile data (or the reverse). Disable a failing VPN or captive-portal connection and retry.
This order follows the safest common mobile sequence: check requirements, close background apps, restart, update, and only then consider reinstalling. It addresses temporary resource pressure without touching the save directory.

Android: clear the cache, never the data, as the first reset
Android menu names vary by manufacturer and version, but the path is generally:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps or Apps & notifications.
- Select Thrifty Business.
- Tap Storage or Storage & cache.
- Choose Clear cache, then launch the game and test.
Cache files are temporary. Clearing them can remove a damaged download or stale texture without intentionally deleting the user save. The wording and location differ on Samsung, Pixel, and other Android phones.

Do not tap “Clear data” or “Clear storage.” Those commands reset the app’s local files. Support documentation from 2K distinguishes cache from data and warns that clearing data or uninstalling can delete save files. Use the data command only after you have verified a cloud or account backup and are deliberately resetting the installation.
If Android still crashes after clearing cache
- Restart again and check whether the crash occurs at launch, while loading a shop, during a customer story, or after opening an event.
- Confirm that Google Play Games is signed in to the account that held the old progress.
- Check whether the phone is hot or nearly full; let it cool and free storage before another test.
- Capture the crash timing and any error text. Do not repeatedly clear storage as a diagnostic experiment.
iPhone and iPad: update and verify Game Center before deleting
iOS does not offer an Android-style per-app “clear cache” button. Use the safer sequence instead:
- Swipe up (or double-click the Home button on older devices) and swipe Thrifty Business away.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Install the latest compatible version from the App Store.
- Install a compatible iOS or iPadOS update if one is offered.
- Open Game Center and confirm the Apple account used for the original save.
- Launch the game on a stable Wi-Fi connection, then test mobile data if loading remains stuck.
The App Store listing confirms Game Center support, but the available listing does not specify whether every save, guest session, or piece of progress is synchronized. Treat an unverified local save as temporary. Deleting and reinstalling the app is a last resort, not a cache-clearing step.

Fix lag caused by heat, storage, or competing apps
Heat and sustained performance
Gaming while charging, in direct sun, or inside a case that traps heat can make a phone reduce its processor speed. Stop the game, remove it from direct heat, let the device return to normal temperature, and test again. Avoid judging performance immediately after a large update, when the phone may still be indexing or downloading assets.
Storage pressure
Keep practical headroom rather than filling the final few gigabytes. Delete large videos, offline maps, or unused apps outside the game. Do not remove Thrifty Business documents or Android app data while troubleshooting; those files may contain the only local save.
Background workload
Cloud photo uploads, system updates, screen recording, video calls, and navigation can compete for memory, processor time, network bandwidth, and battery. Pause those tasks, close their apps, restart the game, and compare the result. If performance improves only after a restart and degrades again quickly, report that pattern rather than repeatedly reinstalling.
When the game freezes, crashes, or will not load
Crash at launch
Confirm that the device meets the store’s current compatibility information, close other apps, restart, and update both the game and operating system. If the title crashes only on one device while another device opens the same account, the issue may be device-specific or installation-specific. There is no published, title-specific crash bulletin establishing a known fix for a particular phone model, so avoid applying a model-specific workaround based on a guess.
Crash after a particular action
Write down the exact sequence: for example, opening a shop layout, selecting an event, moving a piece of furniture, or completing a customer interaction. Reproduce it once after a restart. If the same action consistently fails, preserve the save, capture a video or screenshot, and send the sequence to Spellgarden Games rather than repeatedly forcing the action.

Endless loading
Test another network, restart the app and phone, and verify that the account sign-in completes. A network change distinguishes a connection problem from a damaged installation, but it does not prove that the game requires a constant connection. If loading fails on both Wi-Fi and mobile data while other apps work, collect the error and escalate.

When a linked account exists
- Stop playing on the apparently empty profile so a new blank save does not overwrite anything.
- Sign out only if the game provides a clear sign-out option, then sign back in with the exact Apple/Game Center, Google Play Games, or in-game account used previously.
- Verify the active account in Game Center or Google Play Games, especially on a phone with multiple accounts.
- Update the game and restart the device.
- If available, try the same account on another compatible device. A second device can show whether the save is stored remotely or only on the original phone.
- Reinstall only after the account’s backup is confirmed. An unlinked save can be permanently removed by uninstalling.
Google’s guidance specifically notes that not all games autosave. Account presence is therefore a condition to verify, not a guarantee of restoration.
When the save was a guest or local file
Do not clear Android storage, delete the iOS app, or uninstall. Recovery may be impossible if the only copy was local and the file has already been removed. Contact Spellgarden Games with the device model, operating-system version, game version, approximate progress, account status, and the last action before the loss. Do not claim that a cloud restore exists unless the game actually shows one.
Progress vanished after a long session
Record whether the game was backgrounded, interrupted by a call, closed by the operating system, or left running while the phone overheated. If the game permits manual saving or a normal exit, save and exit periodically instead of leaving a session open indefinitely. A repeatable sequence—such as “complete an event, background the app for five minutes, then reopen”—is more useful to support than a general report that progress disappeared.

Reinstallation addresses a damaged package or missing asset; it does not repair an account mismatch and can destroy an unlinked local save. Use it only when all of these conditions are true:
- The game and operating system are updated.
- Restarting, storage cleanup outside the game, connection tests, and Android cache clearing have not helped.
- The correct account is visibly linked, or you have another confirmed backup.
- You have recorded the current version, device, error, and last known progress.
After reinstalling, sign in with the same account before starting a new game. If the restored shop is empty, stop and contact support; do not continue playing on the wrong profile.
What to send Spellgarden Games support
Use the developer’s current official contact route and include a compact, reproducible report:
- Phone or tablet make and exact model
- iOS/iPadOS or Android version
- Thrifty Business version and installation source (App Store or Google Play)
- Whether Game Center, Google Play Games, or an in-game account is linked
- Free storage available when the problem occurred
- Wi-Fi, mobile-data, or offline status
- Exact error text, including punctuation or codes
- A screenshot or short screen recording, if safe to capture
- The last action before the lag, crash, loading loop, or missing progress
- Approximate shop progress and the last time the save was visible
Say whether the failure happens every time or only occasionally, and whether another app or device shows the same behavior. This lets the developer separate a reproducible game bug from a device, network, or account problem.

What is and is not established about mobile requirements
Official descriptions present Thrifty Business as a laid-back management simulation with thrift-shop layouts, customer stories, and events. The Steam listing shows a May 18, 2026 release for Windows and Apple-silicon macOS with Steam Cloud; the App Store listing identifies a mobile version with Game Center support. The descriptions also advertise more than 500 different items. Steam lists 37 achievements. Those figures describe content and platform metadata, not mobile frame rate, crash frequency, or save reliability.
No complete mobile requirements matrix and no title-specific crash bulletin for a particular phone model were identified in the official material available for this guide. There is likewise no credible published statistic for the game’s mobile lag, crash, or save-loss rate. Treat reports of a “known fix” for one model as unverified unless Spellgarden Games documents it.
Prevent the next lost session
- Keep the phone cool and leave usable storage before a long shop session.
- Install game and operating-system updates when they are compatible with the device.
- Use the same Apple/Game Center or Google Play Games account consistently.
- After important progress, exit normally when the game offers a save or close path, then reopen to verify that progress remains.
- Before changing phones, clearing app storage, or uninstalling, confirm that the current account restores the save.
- Keep a note of the game version and device model so a future support report is precise.
These precautions cannot restore a local file that has already been deleted, but they reduce the chance that a performance fix will become a save-loss incident.
