If they do, reload Instagram and open it in an Incognito window. If Instagram works there, the problem is more likely tied to your regular Chrome profile—often an extension or saved site data—than to your internet connection.
First, identify what is failing
Open another website in Chrome. This quick check helps distinguish a general connection problem from an Instagram- or Chrome-specific one.

- Other websites also fail: Check your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, confirm that you are connected to the right network, and look for a network sign-in page. If appropriate, restart your modem or router. Google recommends checking the connection when multiple websites have loading problems (Chrome Help).
- Other websites work: Reload Instagram and continue with the Chrome checks below.
Check that the address is correct as well. A typo or an outdated page can look like a loading failure.
Try Instagram in an Incognito window
In Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose New Incognito window, then visit Instagram and see whether the same problem occurs. Incognito is a diagnostic test, not a permanent fix: if Instagram works there but not in your usual window, focus on your normal Chrome profile, especially its extensions and saved browsing data. Check extensions and saved site data
Disable extensions to find a conflict
In your regular Chrome window, open the three-dot menu and go to Extensions > Manage extensions. Turn extensions off, then reload Instagram. If it loads, turn extensions back on one at a time, reloading between each change, until the problem returns. Google advises: “If this solves your connection error or loading issue, re-enable your extensions one at a time to identify which extension is causing the problem.” (Google Chrome Help.)
Clear browsing data if extensions are not the cause
Before deleting cookies, make sure you know how to sign back in. In Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose Delete browsing data; select the relevant time range and the data types to remove, then confirm. Clearing cookies can sign you out of websites. If the issue appears limited to Instagram, removing Instagram’s stored site data is a narrower option where available; otherwise, clearing cookies and cached files is a broader step. Try this after the extension test, since it may remove useful saved sessions.

Update and restart Chrome
Chrome checks for updates regularly and applies an available update after the browser is closed and reopened. If Chrome has not been relaunched recently, update it manually: open the three-dot menu and choose Help > About Google Chrome, then follow any update prompt and relaunch the browser. The exact screen can vary by Chrome version. Google describes its update behavior on its Chrome update page.

If Instagram still fails, close unused tabs and apps to free memory, then try again. Firewall or antivirus settings can also affect whether Chrome connects to a website. Review those settings if you know how to do so safely; do not disable protection broadly just to test a page. Google lists memory use, security software, and website downtime among possible causes of loading problems (Chrome Help).

Use the results to decide what to try next

Resetting Chrome settings is a later option, after checking the connection, testing Incognito and extensions, updating the browser, clearing relevant data, and reviewing resource or security issues. Google includes a settings reset among its troubleshooting options (Chrome Help). Since a reset changes browser settings, use it only if you are comfortable restoring your preferred configuration afterward.
