If your Galaxy S26+ is losing charge too quickly, start by checking Settings > Battery to see which apps used power during the period you noticed the drain. Match that list against what you were doing, where you were, and whether the phone was actively in use or sitting idle. Then make targeted changes—such as reducing display use or restricting an app’s background activity—before trying Power saving, restarting, or updating the phone.
First, identify when and where the battery drains
Open Settings > Battery and review the apps shown for the period when the charge dropped. Look for a pattern rather than assuming the app at the top of the list is malfunctioning: compare its use with your screen time, location activity, games, video, calls, and network conditions.

- Drain during active use: Check whether brightness, a long screen timeout, gaming, high-quality video, navigation, hotspot use, streaming, or long calls account for the pattern. These activities can use more power.
- Drain while idle: Look for apps using power in the background, especially ones you recently installed or updated. Consider whether the phone was syncing or using location services.
- Drain in one place: Weak or overlapping network signals can make a phone work harder to find or maintain a connection. Compare battery behavior in an area with stronger reception before concluding the battery is at fault.
The Galaxy S26+ has a 4,900 mAh typical battery, according to Samsung’s 2026 product announcement. Capacity alone does not determine how long a charge lasts. Samsung says actual battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns, and other factors; the available guidance does not establish a guaranteed screen-on time or a model-wide battery-drain defect.

If the screen or workload is the main draw
Lower brightness, enable adaptive brightness if it suits you, and shorten the screen timeout. Reduce demanding gaming, high-quality video, or long sessions of navigation and streaming when you need to preserve charge. These changes can reduce power use, but there is no established S26+-specific saving percentage for any one adjustment.

If location use is unnecessary
Review which apps need location access and limit it for apps that do not need it continuously. Avoid turning location off indiscriminately if you rely on navigation, safety, or other location-based features.
If reception is poor
Compare the phone’s battery behavior somewhere with stronger reception. Wi-Fi may use less power than mobile data in some conditions, but there is no measured S26+-specific comparison that supports a fixed saving. Turn off connectivity features you are not using only if doing so will not interrupt something you need.

If an app uses power in the background
Update the app, restrict its background use, or uninstall it if you no longer need it. If one app still appears to be draining excessively after those steps, Verizon’s Galaxy S26-series guidance recommends contacting the app’s developer.
Restrict background activity selectively
Samsung lets you put infrequently used apps to sleep or deep sleep through battery and background-use controls; exact labels can vary by software version and device. Use these controls for apps that do not need to work or notify you promptly in the background.

Sleeping or deep-sleeping apps can have restrictions on background jobs, alarms, foreground services, updates, and notifications, as Samsung’s developer documentation explains. Be cautious with messaging, security, navigation, health, and other time-sensitive apps: restricting them may delay or prevent functions you expect.

For a temporary endurance boost, a model-specific guide for the Galaxy S26+ running Android 16 gives the path Settings > Battery > Power saving. Carrier instructions and menu names can differ by region or software version. Power saving is a short-term setting, not a diagnosis or permanent repair; battery saver can limit background activity and some connections or features, so check whether those restrictions suit your needs.

Restart and update before considering disruptive steps
- Restart the phone. This is a sensible first check if the drain persists or began unexpectedly.
- Install available system and app updates. Google’s Android battery troubleshooting guidance recommends checking for updates when battery problems do not go away.
- Recheck battery use. After the restart and updates, review Settings > Battery over a period that reflects your usual use and see whether the same pattern remains.
- Keep factory reset as a last resort. Google warns that a reset removes data and uninstalls apps. Back up the phone first if you decide to consider one.
Check battery condition and contact Samsung if the problem persists
If reasonable usage and software checks do not resolve the drain, the phone reports a battery problem, or you suspect physical damage, use Samsung’s Galaxy S26+ support page for battery-condition and repair guidance. Follow the official support route for your region to confirm available options and terms.

Samsung also reports that the Galaxy S26+ can reach up to 69% charge in around 30 minutes with a 45 W adapter. This is a charging result, not a battery-life test: Samsung’s stated internal lab conditions used a pre-release phone starting at 0%, with services, features, and the screen turned off. Samsung recommends its original 45 W power adapter and data cable; those accessories are sold separately. A suitable charger helps recharge the phone, but it does not fix drain while the phone is unplugged.
