If Discord notifications are not appearing in Chrome, check Chrome’s permission for the Discord site first, then check Discord’s server and channel notification settings. These are separate controls, and either can prevent alerts. If both are set correctly, your operating system may be suppressing desktop notifications.
1. Allow notifications for Discord in Chrome
Chrome’s site permission controls whether Discord can send notifications through that browser. Review the permission in Chrome’s settings:

- Open Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications.
- Review the lists of sites allowed and blocked from sending notifications.
- If Discord is blocked, change its permission to allow notifications. You can also open Discord and use the site information control beside the address bar to enable Notifications.

Chrome may remove notification permission for a site you have not visited in a while. It may also block a site it identifies as disruptive. Visit Discord, look for a blocked-notifications indicator, and grant permission again; if needed, find Discord in the blocked-sites list and change its setting.

Test in a regular Chrome window
Chrome notifications are unavailable while browsing privately. Close the private window and test Discord in a regular Chrome window before troubleshooting further.
2. Check Discord’s server and channel settings
Discord’s own notification preferences are independent of Chrome’s site permission. A browser can be allowed to notify you while Discord is configured to silence or narrow alerts. Discord describes these controls in its Notifications Settings 101 guide, updated July 17, 2025.

Review the server
Check whether the affected server is muted and whether its server-level notification settings suppress alerts. If you expect notifications from that server, adjust its settings so they are not muted or suppressed.

- Mentions: notifications when you are mentioned.
- Nothing: no notifications from the channel.
- Mute: silence the channel.
If alerts are missing only from one channel, its override is a useful place to look first.

If Chrome allows notifications and Discord’s server and channel settings are not silencing them, the operating system may be suppressing desktop alerts. The official Chrome and Discord instructions cited above do not provide platform-specific steps for this issue, so the exact setting depends on whether you use Windows, macOS, or Linux. Check your operating system’s current notification settings and support instructions rather than relying on a universal menu path.
