Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →After installing an RTX 5060, first check the card’s seating, power connection, and display cable before changing drivers. If Windows starts, verify the exact card model and Windows version, then install a matching driver from NVIDIA. These checks can narrow down the problem, but no single cause or universal fix is established for black screens, driver errors, or crashes.
Start with the symptoms and basic hardware checks
Note when the display goes black: before Windows begins loading, during startup, or after you sign in. Also record any driver error text or code and whether the PC restarts, freezes, or continues running without a picture. This information helps distinguish a startup or connection issue from a problem that appears once Windows is running.

Before touching the card or its cables, shut down the PC and disconnect power. Follow the card maker’s installation instructions to check that the card is fully seated and its required power lead is connected. Connect the monitor to an output on the graphics card, not the motherboard. Check the monitor input and cable as well. Use the board maker’s documentation to confirm the correct outputs, cable type, and physical fit for your exact card.

NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 family specifications list 145 W total graphics power and 550 W required system power. NVIDIA specifies one PCIe 8-pin cable or a PCIe Gen 5 cable rated for at least 300 W. These are family-level specifications; check your card manufacturer’s instructions for the exact board’s power connector and requirements, and compare them with your power supply’s rating and available cables. Do not assume that a power supply meets the card’s needs based only on its wattage label.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5060
- Integrated with 8GB GDDR7 128bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
NVIDIA lists three DisplayPort connectors and one HDMI connector for the family, but the connector layout and dimensions can vary by manufacturer. Confirm the ports, clearance, and cabling for your specific card in its documentation.
If Windows loads, select the matching NVIDIA driver
- Identify the precise RTX 5060 card variant and your Windows version. If you cannot reach Windows normally, avoid repeated driver changes for now; collect the error details and use the escalation guidance below.
- Open NVIDIA’s driver download selector and choose the matching product and operating system. Use NVIDIA’s official driver pages rather than third-party download sites.
- Choose a driver track that fits your main workload: NVIDIA describes Game Ready drivers as intended for gaming and Studio drivers as intended for creative applications. Neither track is established as a universal fix for post-install crashes.
- Check the driver’s release date and notes, then follow NVIDIA’s installation instructions. If installation fails, save the complete error message and code instead of repeatedly trying different packages without a specific reason.
NVIDIA’s driver pages also provide access to previous certified or beta drivers. If considering another release, verify that it supports your exact GPU and Windows version and review its notes. The GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.52, released May 19, 2025, added desktop and laptop RTX 5060 support. Its notes include a black-screen corruption fix for Diablo II Resurrected when using DLSS; that named game-specific fix is not evidence of a general fix for black screens after installing an RTX 5060.

When to stop troubleshooting and ask for support
If the same symptoms continue after checking the installation and using a correctly matched official driver, stop making blind driver changes. Contact the GPU board manufacturer for card-specific installation or warranty guidance, or use NVIDIA Consumer Support for GeForce graphics-card support options, including filing a support case. Warranty procedures may depend on the card maker and seller.
