Why does my iPhone randomly vibrate?
Apple defines haptic feedback as “the vibration you feel on your iPhone when you perform some actions, such as when you touch and hold any icon on the Home Screen.” Alerts also have vibration patterns. So a brief buzz can come from an ordinary interaction or notification, and the symptom alone does not show that the vibration hardware has failed.

Before changing settings, jot down when the vibration occurs and what the phone was doing. Does it happen while typing, with the screen locked, at a recurring time, or near a notification? That pattern may help you identify which setting or app to check.
How do I stop my iPhone from vibrating for no reason?
1. Check alert vibration patterns
Open Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Review the Haptics behavior and the vibration pattern for relevant alert categories, such as ringtone, text tone, calendar or reminder alerts. Apple provides paired vibration patterns for alert sounds, and you can change the pattern for an alert.

2. Check typing and system feedback
In Settings > Sounds & Haptics, open Keyboard Feedback and check Haptic. Also review System Haptics. These controls are separate from alert patterns and are worth checking if the buzz happens while typing or interacting with the interface.
3. Review app notifications
Open Settings > Notifications and review the apps that could be sending alerts around the time of the vibration. Check the suspected app’s own notification settings as well. If changing notifications stops the buzz, you can narrow the adjustment to that app rather than disabling vibration everywhere.

4. Remember that Silent Mode may still allow vibration
Silent Mode silences ringing and alert sounds, but it does not necessarily turn off vibration. Apple notes that “iPhone may still vibrate” when Silent Mode is on. If you want to change vibration behavior, use the relevant haptics settings instead of assuming Silent Mode disables it.
5. Use the global vibration switch only as a short test
For a broad diagnostic test, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Vibration and switch vibration off. This disables vibration globally, including vibration for earthquake, tsunami and other emergency alerts. If you want emergency-alert vibration, turn the setting back on after the test.

What if the vibration continues?
Restart the iPhone and check for an iOS update
Try a force restart using the button sequence for your iPhone model; Apple’s force-restart instructions list the steps by model. Then check Settings > General > Software Update for an available update. These are reasonable software checks, but neither is a guaranteed fix for unexplained vibration.
Consider a settings reset only after basic checks
If the problem persists, a settings reset is a later option. Before proceeding, review Apple’s reset options carefully: different choices have different effects, so select only the one you intend.

Get device-specific help if it persists or the phone is damaged
