If those do not help, Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 connection steps use a double-tap on the front of the case; its reset sequence also uses front-of-case taps, not a rear setup button. Reset only after simpler checks because it removes custom settings.
AirPods Pro 3 won’t connect or pair
Apple’s current connection instructions specifically name AirPods Pro 3. They recommend updating the paired iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the latest version of its operating system, checking that both earbuds are charging and Bluetooth is on, then trying to connect again. Apple’s connection guide provides the full flow.

- Update the iPhone, iPad, or Mac you want to use, and turn on Bluetooth.
- Put both AirPods in the case and check that both are charging. If the AirPods appear as an audio output, select them in the device’s audio output menu; also check that the device volume is turned up.
- If they still do not connect, put the AirPods in the case and close the lid for 15 seconds.
- Open the lid and double-tap the front of the case until the status light flashes white. Keep the open case near the device and follow the onscreen setup prompts.
For a Mac, Apple says to pair manually. If the connection still fails after these steps, use the reset sequence below.

AirPods Pro 3 case or earbuds won’t charge
First check power and seating rather than resetting. Apple’s charging guidance is general AirPods support, but its charging page also discusses the AirPods Pro 3 Optimised Charge Limit setting. Follow Apple’s charging guidance for current instructions.
#1 Best Overall
- Replacement Apple AirPods Pro (3rd Generation) charging case (A3122). Easy to pair with your existing AirPods set, with pairing instructions included.
- Package includes 1 AirPods Pro 3rd Generation replacement charging case (A3122) and pairing instructions in generic envelope or box.
- Only compatible with Apple AirPods Pro (3rd Generation)
- Place both earbuds in the case and connect the case to a working power source. Charge the AirPods and case for at least 15 minutes.
- Check that the charging cable is firmly connected to the case and power adapter, and that the adapter is plugged into a working outlet.
- Check the charge status on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or case to see whether the case and both earbuds register a charge.
- Look for debris in the charging port. Use Apple’s applicable cleaning directions; the charging page does not specify a Pro 3-specific port-cleaning technique.
If you need a full charge, check whether Optimised Charge Limit is enabled. Apple says it can be turned off for AirPods Pro 3 using an iPhone or iPad. A charge that stops short of full may therefore reflect this setting rather than a fault.
One AirPod is silent or quieter than the other
Apple’s left/right audio troubleshooting is general AirPods guidance, not a Pro 3-specific diagnosis. Its recommended checks are useful for this symptom; see Apple’s left or right AirPod guide.
- Make sure the case has charge, place both earbuds in it, and let them charge for 30 seconds.
- Check that each AirPod registers as charging. Then test the affected AirPod by itself, leaving the other one in the case.
- If sound levels still differ, remove the affected ear tip and inspect the speaker mesh for debris. Clean it using Apple’s directions for the model.
- On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Balance and check that the balance slider is centered.
Reset AirPods Pro 3
Reset only after the relevant connection, charging, or audio checks. Apple warns that resetting also removes custom settings. The Pro 3 reset is not the older procedure that uses a setup button on the back of the case. Follow Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 reset instructions:
- Put both AirPods in the case and close the lid for 30 seconds.
- Open the lid. When the status light is on, double-tap the front of the case.
- When the light flashes white, double-tap the front again.
- When the light flashes faster, double-tap the front a third time.
- Wait for the light to flash amber and then white. Once the reset is complete, follow the prompts on your device to reconnect.
If the status light does not flash white, Apple’s reset page provides a further retry sequence. Use that guide rather than substituting an older case-button procedure.
When to contact Apple
If the fault continues after the steps for that symptom and the reset procedure, consult the AirPods Support hub for Apple’s cleaning instructions and certified service or repair options. The documented self-help steps do not establish a specific hardware cause or guarantee a fix; a persistent problem may need service.
