First separate low frame rates and stuttering from network lag: graphics settings can affect how smoothly your PC renders the game, but they cannot fix a slow or unstable connection to the server. Check which symptom you have, compare your PC with the requirements for your AION 2 client, then test reversible settings one at a time.
Identify what “lag” means on your PC
Low FPS usually means the game looks persistently choppy; a stutter is a brief hitch amid otherwise smoother play. Network delay feels different: actions or other players may respond late even when the image itself is rendering smoothly. These symptoms can overlap, and the available official requirements do not provide a diagnostic test that identifies every cause.

- Note whether the problem is continuous or intermittent, and whether it happens everywhere or mostly in busy areas.
- Record whether it began after a game patch or driver change.
- Change one setting at a time and compare the same scene before and after. That makes it easier to tell whether a change helped.
Compare your PC with the requirements for your client
Use the requirements for the version and region you play. The global Steam listing and NCSoft’s Korean PC page do not give identical recommended FHD preset guidance, so do not treat their notes as interchangeable. These are published hardware baselines, not guarantees of a particular frame rate.

Check your installed CPU, GPU, RAM, operating system, DirectX support, and free storage against the applicable tier. If a component falls below the minimum, identify that specific gap before considering an upgrade; a blanket new-PC recommendation is not justified by a requirements mismatch in only one part.

Verify the official installation and drivers
For the Korean PC client, NCSoft directs users to install PURPLE, select AION 2 in the Store, and choose the game-install option in the AION 2 lobby. Follow the official instructions for the client and region you actually use rather than downloading replacement executables or configuration files from unofficial sites. NCSoft’s page also links to DirectX 12, Visual Studio Redistributable 2015–2022, NVIDIA GeForce drivers, AMD Radeon drivers, and .NET Framework 4.6.2 or higher: NCSoft download and requirements page.
Use the appropriate vendor’s official support or driver page to check your graphics driver. The presence of an official driver link is not evidence that updating will improve FPS in every case; if the problem started immediately after a driver change, note that timing while diagnosing it.

Check the game drive and free space
NCSoft recommends SSD storage and lists 100 GB of available space for installation. Check which drive holds the game and how much room remains before buying anything. The recommendation does not establish that an SSD will cure every stutter, low-FPS problem, or network delay. If your current drive is already an SSD with adequate space, this guidance alone is not a reason to replace it.

A third-party Playnews guide suggests lowering effects, mass-battle, model, draw-distance, vegetation, shadow, shading, global-illumination, reflection, cloud, post-processing, and anti-aliasing quality, and trying Performance or Balanced resolution scaling. - Start from your current settings and choose one option to change. If you are near the applicable minimum tier, the official FHD preset note is a reasonable starting point.
- Play the same scene under similar conditions and compare smoothness and stutters with the prior run.
- Keep the change only if it improves your experience; otherwise restore it before testing another option.
The same third-party guide suggests leaving the upscaler disabled initially, then trying it if needed. It also suggests VSync off by default, with VSync as a possible fallback for severe lag, and a 60 Hz refresh rate with 90 Hz as an option. Treat these as optional experiments, not universal recommendations: VSync can affect tearing and input feel depending on the setup. Revert a change if it makes play feel worse. No measured performance gain is established for these options.

If your system is below an official minimum, compare the affected component with the listed requirement and consider compatibility and your actual workload before upgrading. If it meets requirements but performance remains poor, the official pages do not provide an AION 2-specific flow for diagnosing persistent performance issues, and the cited settings advice does not establish a universal fix. For a more targeted diagnosis, gather your CPU, GPU, RAM, client region, resolution, current settings, drive type, driver version, and whether the problem is rendering stutter or network delay.
