How to Fix a Turtle Beach Rematch Controller That Won’t Connect or Stay Connected

Rematch controllers use different connection methods. Identify your model first, then follow the correct Switch pairing or wired-compatibility checks.

First identify which Turtle Beach Rematch you have: the wireless Nintendo Switch model, a wired Switch model, or the wired Rematch Core for Xbox/PC. Their connection steps and supported consoles differ. For the documented wireless Switch controller, try waking it, pairing it from the Switch’s controller menu, and checking its charge; wired models do not use wireless pairing.

Identify your Rematch model before troubleshooting

“Rematch” refers to several controllers. Check the product name and whether it connects by USB cable or wirelessly before following steps. A Switch wireless pairing procedure will not fix a wired controller or an Xbox/PC model.

Model Connection and supported platforms Important distinction
Rematch wireless for Nintendo Switch Wireless; listed for Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, and Switch 2. Turtle Beach product listing The listing says the C Button is unavailable on Switch 2. Pairing and charging steps are in the quick-start guide.
Rematch wired for original Switch Wired; works with Switch and Switch OLED when used with the dock. Turtle Beach support FAQ Not compatible with Switch Lite, which has no dock. The FAQ also says this model is not compatible with Turtle Beach–PDP Control Hub.
Rematch wired for Switch 2 Wired; product listing names Switch 2, Switch, and Switch OLED compatibility. Its listed cable length is 10 feet/3 meters. Turtle Beach product listing This is a different product from the older wired Switch controller; confirm the model rather than assuming their compatibility is identical.
Rematch Core wired for Xbox/PC Wired USB-C; listed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11 PC, with an 8-foot cable. Turtle Beach product listing It is not the wireless Nintendo Switch controller, so the Switch sync steps below do not apply.

Pair or reconnect the wireless Nintendo Switch Rematch

Pair it for the first time

  1. Turn on the Nintendo Switch and press any button on the Rematch wireless controller. It may connect automatically.
  2. If it does not, use another connected controller to open Controllers > Change Grip/Order.
  3. Hold the Rematch’s sync button on its top edge, near the charging port, for three seconds. Wait for the player indicator to become solid to confirm pairing.

Reconnect a controller that was paired before

On the Switch, open Controllers > Change Grip/Order, then press L and R on the Rematch. The quick-start guide also says holding Home can wake the controller and Switch.

Check the wireless controller’s battery and charging status

  • The function-button LED blinks red every 30 seconds when the battery is low.
  • To charge it, connect the controller to a USB port on a Nintendo Switch dock using the included USB-C cable. The LED pulses red while charging and turns white when fully charged.
  • If the cable is missing or damaged, replace that cable; an extra cable is not a required fix when the included one works.
  • If the controller is being stored, the guide recommends charging it every three months to help prevent the battery from completely draining.

If the controller still disconnects

The wireless Rematch quick-start guide documents pairing, reconnection, waking, and charging, but does not provide a universal diagnostic sequence for repeated disconnects. It does not establish a particular reset-button sequence, firmware fix, or cause for persistent connection drops, so do not try an assumed reset procedure.
