If your DualSense will not connect to a PS5, connect it with the USB cable supplied with the console or controller and press the PS button. For a supported PC, phone, or other Bluetooth device, turn the controller off, disconnect USB, then hold Create and PS until the light bar blinks and select it from the device’s Bluetooth list. If the right pairing method does not help, reset the controller and reconnect it; update PS5 software, then contact PlayStation Repairs if the problem continues.
Reconnect a DualSense to a PS5
- Turn on the PS5 and connect the controller with the USB cable supplied with it.
- Press the PS button. Sony uses this cable connection to pair the controller with the console. Once the controller has enough charge, you can remove the cable and use it wirelessly.
If the console does not recognize the controller, try a reset before moving on to software updates or support.

Reset the controller if reconnection fails
- Turn off the PS5 and disconnect the controller from its USB cable.
- Locate the small reset hole on the back of the controller near the Sony logo.
- Use a pin or similar tool to press and hold the recessed reset button for at least five seconds.
- Reconnect the controller to the PS5 with the supplied USB cable and press PS.
Sony says resetting the controller does not affect its pairing settings. If the reset does not restore the connection, continue with the software checks below.

Pair with a PC, phone, or other supported Bluetooth device
- Make sure the controller is off: its player indicator should not be lit. If it is on, hold PS until the controller turns off.
- Disconnect any USB cable.
- Hold Create, then hold PS until the light bar blinks.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the device you want to use and select the controller from its device list. When pairing completes, the light bar blinks and the player indicator lights.
A DualSense can be paired with only one device at a time according to Sony’s PC guidance. When switching from a PS5 to a computer or another device, pair the controller with the new device again.

Check software and game compatibility
Sony recommends keeping PS5 system software current. DualSense device software updates are added when PS5 system software is updated. To check for a controller update manually, open Settings > Accessories > Controller (General) > DualSense Wireless Controller Device Software.
A successful Bluetooth connection does not guarantee that every PC game or controller feature will work. Support varies by game and device; Sony advises checking the game’s Steam page for its Full or Partial Controller Support information. When to contact PlayStation Repairs
If the controller still will not connect after the appropriate pairing steps, reset, and software checks, use PlayStation Repairs. Sony’s troubleshooting guidance does not diagnose an individual controller, so persistent connection trouble needs support rather than a guess about a particular hardware fault.
