If your YouTube livestream goes offline as soon as its last playlist item finishes, check the player or source application that feeds your encoder. The livestream ends when the encoder stops sending content; YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control does not restart a creator’s broadcast. Find out first whether the livestream itself ended or only a viewer’s playlist playback stopped.
First, identify what stopped
There are two different problems that can look alike:

- A viewer’s playlist stopped: The playlist ended in the YouTube player. Turn on playlist repeat for that viewer.
- The channel’s livestream ended: The live broadcast went offline when the source playlist finished. Check the source application and encoder that send video to YouTube; a viewer’s Loop button cannot keep that broadcast running.

If only the viewer’s playlist stops
Enable repeat in the YouTube player on the device where the playlist is being watched:

- Desktop: Open a video from the playlist, expand the playlist panel, then click Loop.
- Mobile: Play the playlist and tap Loop in the playlist control box.
- TV or game console: Select Repeat until the control displays Repeat • Playlist.
This repeats the viewer’s playlist playback. It does not restart a separate livestream whose source or encoder has stopped.
If the livestream itself goes offline
YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” If the broadcast ends at the playlist’s final item, the likely place to investigate is the content path feeding YouTube—not the viewer’s playback controls. 1. Check the source’s end-of-playlist behavior
In the application or system playing videos into the stream, look for a repeat, loop, or restart option. Confirm that reaching the final item does not close playback, stop the source, or trigger an action that stops the encoder. The exact setting depends on the software or hardware you use; YouTube does not provide one universal creator-side “24/7 playlist loop” switch.

Check the encoder’s status and outgoing signal when the playlist finishes. If playback has stopped, the encoder may have nothing left to send; if the encoder has stopped transmitting, YouTube can end the broadcast. YouTube’s setup instructions require the Live server URL and stream key in the encoder. Do not publish or share your stream key: treat it as a credential for sending video to your channel.

3. Locate the break in the chain
Check in sequence whether the source continues playing, the encoder continues transmitting, and the event remains live and accessible in YouTube. This helps distinguish a playlist completion action from an encoder transmission issue or a problem viewing the event.
Monitor the stream around the playlist’s end
YouTube recommends practical checks that can help pinpoint where the problem occurs:

- Preview the stream in Live Control Room and note whether it still appears live after the final playlist item.
- Check that the event can be opened from the channel or watch page, and test access on a mobile device.
- Monitor the audio and video for continuity and quality.
- If recording locally, verify that the archive file is growing by checking its size.
- For a setup that supports it, test encoder failover as part of your monitoring plan.

Made-for-kids settings are a separate issue
YouTube’s made-for-kids designation changes which features are available. Its guidance lists restrictions that include live chat, chat replay, Super Chat, comments on archives or upcoming streams, and reminder notifications. Personalized ads are disabled on live streams and Premieres, though contextual ads may appear. Will YouTube archive a 24/7 livestream?
Do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive for a continuous stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an archive limitation, not a stated maximum duration for a live transmission. If preserving a complete replay matters, keep a local recording and verify that it is being written successfully.
