In a multiplayer game, open Esc → Manage Session → Session Settings. Select Show beside the Session ID, then copy the value or send it to your friends. A single-player game does not display a multiplayer Session ID.

What the Satisfactory Session ID is
The Session ID is the join identifier for an active multiplayer session. It is separate from the world’s display name, the save file name, and the numeric folder that may appear in a PC save directory. Friends use the Session ID to identify the host’s current multiplayer session; they do not use the save file name or the account-related folder number.

The ID is shown from inside the running session, not from the Windows or Linux file system. You must be connected to the game world on a multiplayer session before the relevant menu appears.
Find the Session ID step by step
- Start Satisfactory and connect to the multiplayer session. Load or join the world from the main menu. The procedure applies to the active multiplayer session you want friends to join.
- Press Esc. This opens the in-game pause menu.
- Choose Manage Session. If this option is missing, use the checks in the troubleshooting section below rather than looking through your save folders.
- Open Session Settings. The session-management screen contains the multiplayer settings and the identifier.
- Select Show next to Session ID. The value is hidden until you reveal it.
- Copy or transcribe the ID. Use the copy control if your current build provides one. Otherwise, type the displayed value exactly, preserving every digit and avoiding extra spaces.
Give the ID to the people you want to join. If the menu wording in your game differs slightly, look for the session-management screen and a setting that reveals the multiplayer identifier; interface labels can change between game builds.

If “Manage Session” is missing
Several conditions can prevent the menu from appearing. Check them in this order:
- Confirm that you are in a multiplayer session. Single-player sessions do not have a multiplayer Session ID, so there is nothing to reveal.
- Finish the introduction screen. A guide reports that Manage Session may not be available until you have passed the introduction screen in the same main-menu flow. Return to the main menu, complete that screen if necessary, and reconnect.
- Load the intended world. The ID belongs to the active session. Being at the title screen or viewing save slots is not enough.
- Check the current build’s labels. Menu names may have changed since older guides were written. Work from the pause menu’s multiplayer or session-management controls instead of relying on an old screenshot.
Set the session so invited friends can join
When you are inviting friends directly, set the multiplayer session privacy to Private. This setting is intended for an invited group and helps ensure that the session is handled as a private game rather than an open listing. Change the privacy option in the session settings before asking friends to connect, then reveal the ID again if you return to the session-management screen.
Privacy and the Session ID solve different problems: the ID identifies the session, while privacy controls who can discover or enter it. An ID copied from the wrong world, or copied before the host is actually in the multiplayer session, will not help a friend connect.

Session ID, Session Name, and save file name are different

The Load tab can show the Session Name stored in a save, but that name is not a substitute for the ID under Session Settings. Renaming a save or changing its displayed session name does not reveal or regenerate the multiplayer identifier you need to send to a friend.
Why a friend gets “Unable to find any session with that ID”
That message generally means the joining player cannot locate an active session matching the value entered. Work through the following checks rather than changing save files.
Verify the host is still online
The host must be connected to the multiplayer world when the other player attempts to join. Reopen the session-management menu, reveal the ID again, and send the current value if the host has reloaded the game or changed worlds.

Copy the complete value
Session IDs are easy to mistype. Use the copy function when available. If you type it manually, compare every character with the host’s display and remove accidental spaces or punctuation added by a chat application.
Confirm that the ID came from the right menu
Only the value revealed through Esc → Manage Session → Session Settings → Show is the multiplayer Session ID. A Session Name, a save filename, and a numeric folder name are different values and will not work in the join field.
Check multiplayer and privacy settings
Make sure the host did not load a single-player world. A single-player session has no multiplayer Session ID. For an invited group, set the session privacy to Private and then have the host provide the ID from the active session.

Have the host and friend retry after reconnecting
If the value still fails, have the host leave to the main menu, load the intended multiplayer world again, and reveal a fresh copy of the ID. The friend should enter that newly copied value rather than reusing one saved from an earlier session.

Session types and why guides disagree
One guide groups Satisfactory sessions into four types: Single Player, IP, Steam, and Epic. Its report says that two of those types do not have a multiplayer Session ID, but it does not identify which two. Do not infer the missing pair from the session type name alone. Use the practical test in your current build: if the session is multiplayer and the Session Settings screen offers Show for an ID, that is the value to share; if no such field exists, that session type or state does not expose a multiplayer ID through that menu.
Platform-specific labels and networking behavior can also change with game updates. Older instructions may show a different arrangement even when the underlying task is the same.
Dedicated servers and save folders
Do not search a dedicated-server save directory as your first method of finding a Session ID. Reports commonly mention Linux files under ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server and Windows files under %LocalAppData%FactoryGameSavedSaveGamesserver, but those locations are not a verified source for the in-game Session ID and service accounts can use other paths. A save file found there is not automatically the join identifier.
For a hosted or dedicated setup, use the server’s current connection instructions and the identifier exposed by the active multiplayer configuration. Treat any folder path as storage information, not as proof that the number inside it is a Session ID.
Quick checklist
- You are inside the intended multiplayer world.
- You pressed Esc and opened Manage Session.
- You selected Session Settings.
- You used Show beside Session ID.
- You copied the entire value exactly.
- The host remains online while the friend joins.
- The session privacy is Private when joining by invitation.
- You did not substitute the Session Name, save filename, or numeric SaveGames folder.
- If Manage Session is absent, you have passed the introduction screen and checked the current build’s menu labels.
What to do when the labels differ
The menu path above reflects guide reports available through October 14, 2026, but those reports were not confirmed against every current game build. If your labels differ, stay in the in-game pause menu and look for controls named Manage Session, Session Settings, or an equivalent multiplayer-settings area. The destination you need is the screen that can reveal the active session’s ID; file-browser searches cannot replace it.
