The fastest way to get crafting materials in ARC Raiders is to combine normal Topside looting with the game’s Acquire Resources tool. Open Inventory → Crafting to see recipes, then select a missing material and choose Acquire Resources. The list shows current ways to obtain it, such as recycling an item or buying from Celeste. During a raid, search containers, loose loot, ARC remains, hidden caches and supply meteors; after extraction, recycle only what helps an active recipe and keep quest, workshop and blueprint items before selling anything.
How crafting materials work in ARC Raiders
ARC Raiders divides crafting into preparation at Speranza and field crafting while you are Topside. Embark’s official support describes field crafting as combining resources collected Topside to create improvised items on the go. That means you do not need to return to a workbench for every useful item: if your inventory contains the required components, the recipe is available from the field-crafting interface.

At Speranza, workshop stations turn extracted resources and learned blueprints into more permanent equipment and upgrades. A successful run therefore has two goals: gather the materials for the item you want now, and extract the less common resources that unlock future recipes, quests and workshop levels.
Use Acquire Resources before choosing a farming route
Embark added a missing-material workflow directly to the crafting screen. It is more reliable than memorising an old community map because it reflects the current build’s available sources.

- Select Crafting and choose the recipe you want to make.
- Identify the material shown as missing.
- Select Acquire Resources.
- Read the listed sources, which can include recycling an item or buying from Celeste.
- Use that list to decide whether to recycle something you already carry, visit a particular area, or make a dedicated raid.
The list is especially useful when a material has several possible sources. Check it immediately before leaving Speranza: patches can change recipes, loot categories, trader inventories and interface behaviour, while the in-game list is the most direct indication of what your current installation supports.
Where to find materials Topside
Search ordinary containers and loose items
Most crafting supplies come from routine scavenging. Open containers, inspect loose objects and search rooms rather than running only toward marked objectives. Community documentation groups the resulting loot into three practical tiers:
- Base materials: scrap, wires and basic components used in everyday recipes.
- Advanced materials: powercells and rarer components needed for more demanding equipment or upgrades.
- Special materials: cores, schematics and unique items that are often tied to high-value crafting, progression or quests.
Container density matters more than a single “best” room. A route that lets you search several buildings quickly, with a nearby extraction point, can produce more usable materials per minute than a dangerous detour toward one high-value container.
Loot destroyed ARC units
Destroyed ARC machines leave remains that can be searched. The community guide’s broad rule is that standard units tend to provide common materials, elites are a source of rarer materials, and bosses can provide epic or unique materials. Treat those categories as guide-level tendencies, not guaranteed drop tables: no authoritative complete drop-rate chart has been established, and balance updates can change results.
ARC remains are therefore a risk-versus-value decision. If you already have the common scrap required for a recipe, hunting an elite may make sense for the rare component you lack. If your backpack is full or extraction is far away, taking a fight solely for a chance at a better drop can turn a productive run into a loss.
Watch for supply meteors
Supply meteors can contain rare or epic materials, weapon schematics and ARC Powercells. Their value is visible to other players, and the event can also draw additional ARC threats. Approach only when you have a way to break contact: identify an extraction option, leave room in your backpack and avoid spending all of your healing or ammunition before the search is complete.

A meteor run is strongest when it serves two objectives at once, such as collecting a powercell while progressing a blueprint hunt. If the current Acquire Resources list points to a safer source for the material you need, a meteor is not automatically the efficient choice.
Check hidden caches and locked areas
Less-traveled locations can contain caches with better-than-average progression loot. Search abandoned buildings, underground bunkers, ARC facility ruins and caves. Some caches require a key or a hacking action, so bring the required access item when the route is worth the extra time.
Hidden-cache routes trade speed for concentration. They are useful for players who need special materials or blueprints, but they can be inefficient when the objective is a large quantity of basic components. Compare the expected value with container density, distance to extraction and the amount of danger on the route.
Finding laboratory reagents
Laboratory reagents are a common sticking point because ordinary industrial loot routes do not necessarily contain enough medical items. PC Gamer identifies the Hospital in Buried City as the best place to find laboratory reagents and describes it as the only location then classified solely as Medical.

Search cabinets and boxes throughout the hospital, then check loose reagents on countertops and chemical stands. Do not stop after opening the obvious medical containers; the loose items are part of the location’s value.

These alternatives are reported locations rather than a guarantee that every visit will produce the same quantity. Use the in-game source list to confirm the current classification and plan an extraction route before entering a high-traffic medical area.
How to get blueprints
Blueprints are most reliably found in containers inside locked rooms, and they can also appear as quest rewards. A blueprint is more valuable than an ordinary sellable because it expands what your workshop can make; protect it as soon as you find one.
- Search locked-room containers and complete quests that list a blueprint reward.
- Extract with the blueprint. If your Safe Pocket has room and the blueprint is valuable, place it there before continuing the raid.
- Return to Speranza.
- Open the relevant workshop station and choose Learn and Consume.
- Confirm the action. The blueprint is consumed and its recipe is added to that station.
“Learn and Consume” is a one-way progression action: the item must be back at Speranza before you can use it, so do not risk carrying it through optional fights after you have already found a safe extraction opportunity.

Recycle when the conversion advances a current goal
Field Recycling lets you break down an item instantly by selecting Recycle. Use it when the resulting materials complete a recipe, satisfy a workshop requirement or free enough space to pick up a higher-priority item. Recycling is also useful when Acquire Resources identifies a carried item as a direct source of the material you are missing.
Do not recycle automatically. An item that looks expendable may be required for a quest, Scrappy, a workshop upgrade or the Expedition Project. Check active objectives and workshop requirements first.
Sell only true surplus
Sell to traders after you have checked those same requirements and confirmed that recycling will not help an immediate craft. A sale gives you flexibility for purchases, but it cannot replace a unique component or blueprint you discarded without checking.

Use a priority order when your backpack fills
- Quest items and materials needed for an active objective.
- Workshop materials required for the next upgrade or recipe.
- Rare schematics and other special progression items.
- High-value sellables when the first three groups are secure.
- Common surplus that can be recycled or sold without delaying a goal.
Why inventory discipline matters
PC Gamer’s 2025 tally counts 1,195 materials across 62 unique items used for quests, Scrappy, workshop upgrades and the Expedition Project. The same guide reports a 280-item maximum stash. Those figures make it impossible to keep every item indefinitely.

Choosing a material-farming route
Compare routes using five questions rather than a single “best map” claim:
- What material category does the route favour? Medical areas suit reagents; ARC encounters and meteors can favour higher-tier components.
- How many containers can you search? Dense, compact routes usually produce basic supplies efficiently.
- What is the ARC and PvP danger? High-value events attract both machine threats and competing players.
- How far is extraction? A route with a short exit gives you more opportunities to bank materials safely.
- Does it advance another objective? Combine a reagent run with a medical quest, or a meteor run with a blueprint hunt, when the risk is acceptable.

A practical run plan
Before leaving Speranza
- Choose one primary material, such as laboratory reagents, and one secondary goal, such as a blueprint or workshop component.
- Check Inventory → Crafting and record the exact missing materials.
- Open Acquire Resources and note whether recycling or Celeste can provide any of them.
- Clear backpack space while keeping quest and workshop items.
- Carry access items only when the target cache or locked room justifies their space.
During the raid
- Search containers and loose loot in a compact route instead of crossing the map for isolated objects.
- Search ARC remains only when the expected tier matches your need.
- At medical locations, inspect cabinets, boxes, countertops and chemical stands.
- When a supply meteor or elite encounter appears, compare its value with extraction distance and current backpack space.
- Protect a blueprint in the Safe Pocket when possible.
When to extract
Extract once the primary material is secured, a blueprint is protected and your remaining space is reserved for higher-priority loot. Staying for one more container is not worthwhile if it forces you to risk a rare item you already have. The objective is material delivered to Speranza, not material temporarily held in a dangerous raid.
After extraction
- Return to Speranza and use Learn and Consume on recovered blueprints.
- Craft the item that motivated the run, if the required materials are now complete.
- Recycle items identified by Acquire Resources as useful conversions.
- Sell only confirmed surplus.
- Recheck the next recipe before starting another raid.
Troubleshooting common material problems
“I searched the right area but found no reagent”
Loot is not a guaranteed spawn for every visit. Search all container types and loose surfaces, then check the other reported medical areas. If the current Acquire Resources list names a different source, follow that list rather than relying on an older route.
“I recycled an item and still cannot craft”
Open the recipe again and verify that the conversion produced the exact material and quantity required. Some recipes need several categories at once, so completing one shortage may leave another. The crafting screen filters recipes by materials currently held; use that view to identify the remaining gap.

“The blueprint disappeared”
Blueprints are consumed by Learn and Consume when the recipe is added to a workshop station. If you have not used that command, confirm that the item is in your inventory at Speranza rather than still in a stash location or another loadout.
“I cannot carry everything”
Use the priority order: quests, workshop requirements, rare schematics, high-value sellables, then common surplus. The reported 280-item stash limit means long-term hoarding is not a workable strategy. Convert or sell items only after checking the next objective.
“The route worked before a patch”
Loot categories, recipes, stash capacity and interface behaviour can change. Reopen Acquire Resources on the current build and treat community drop descriptions as directional rather than guaranteed.
