Both Beorcan’s Twinned Keys are hidden in separate underground chests close to the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door at Beorcan Stronghold. The first is beneath an ice-sealed hatch in church-like ruins; the second is reached from behind a nearby ruin through a hallway and a ladder covered with mushrooms. Frozen Beorcan figures point to both entrances.
The door is optional if your only objective is the main story. Walkthroughs describe valuable rewards beyond it, but the available guides do not identify those rewards, and they do not establish the exact inventory wording used for the two keys.

Where both keys are located
Start at the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door. Both chests are in the immediate area rather than in distant sections of Beorcan Stronghold, but they use different entrances and different underground routes.
Recommended Free Tools
| Key | Landmark | Entrance | Route characteristics | Chest location |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First key | Church- or chapel-like ruins at the right-hand bend when moving away from the door | Ice-frozen hatch indicated by a frozen Beorcan | Break the ice, then make a short ladder descent | Small underground room directly below the hatch |
| Second key | Small ruin near the door whose door is locked from the other side | Hatch behind the ruin, beside a small wall and another frozen Beorcan | Underground hallway with an enemy, followed by a mushroom-covered ladder | Room behind the locked door |
Use the frozen figures as your primary confirmation. If you are looking at an ordinary doorway, an unmarked opening, or a ruin without one of these frozen figures, you are not at either key entrance.

- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.
How to get the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key
The first route is the shorter of the two. It begins at the locked door and loops to an ice-covered hatch in the ruins nearby.
1. Stand at the locked door and move away from it
Use the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door as your starting reference. Follow the path away from the door instead of searching directly beside the doorway. The route is close, so you should remain in the same general area of the stronghold.
2. Take the right-hand bend
Continue until the path bends to the right. At this bend, turn your attention to the ruins on the left side of the path. The relevant landmark is described in walkthroughs as church-like or chapel-like rather than as a large intact building.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →3. Search the church-like ruins for the frozen hatch
Inspect the ruin instead of continuing farther along the path. Look for a hatch sealed by ice. A frozen Beorcan is positioned to indicate the entrance, and the top of a ladder can be seen through the ice. That visible ladder is the strongest confirmation that you have found the first route.
4. Break the ice
Clear the ice covering the hatch using the game’s normal method for breaking environmental ice. The walkthroughs identify the required action as breaking the ice but do not specify a particular weapon, vocation, spell, or consumable, so do not waste time looking for a uniquely named item.
5. Descend the ladder
Once the hatch is open, climb down the ladder. This descent is brief and leads to a small underground room rather than a branching dungeon.

6. Open the chest
Open the chest in that room to collect the first key. If the chest is not present, return to the surface and verify that you entered the hatch marked by the frozen Beorcan in the church-like ruins; the second key route uses a different hatch and a different underground approach.
How to get the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key
The second key is also near the locked door, but its route is easier to mistake for a dead end. The nearby ruin has a door locked from the other side, so approach it from behind rather than trying to force that door.
1. Find the small ruin near the locked door
Return to the area around the Beorcan’s Twinned Key door and locate the small ruin nearby. Its visible door is locked from the other side. That locked door is a landmark, not the entrance you need.
2. Walk around to the rear
Circle around the ruin instead of repeatedly interacting with the locked door. Stay close to its outer wall and inspect the rear side.
3. Locate the second frozen Beorcan and hatch
Behind the ruin, beside a small wall, look for another hatch marked by a frozen Beorcan. The second figure distinguishes this entrance from the ice-sealed hatch in the church-like ruins. If you cannot find a hatch, check the space immediately beside the small wall rather than the ruin’s front entrance.
4. Descend and follow the underground hallway
Go down through the hatch and proceed along the underground hallway. An enemy is present on this route, so be ready for a fight before advancing. The available walkthroughs do not identify the enemy or provide statistics, so treat the encounter as a general hazard rather than preparing for a named opponent.

5. Climb the ladder with mushrooms growing on it
Continue through the hallway until you reach a ladder with mushrooms growing on it. This unusual visual feature is the route’s key navigation marker. Climb that ladder; do not turn back toward the surface hatch when you reach the hallway.
6. Enter the room behind the locked door
The ladder brings you into the room on the far side of the ruin’s locked door. You have reached the area that could not be entered through the front because the door is locked from the other side.
7. Open the chest in that room
Open the chest in the room to obtain the second key. If you emerge somewhere other than the room behind the locked door, retrace the hallway and confirm that you used the ladder with mushrooms growing on it.

How to recognize the correct entrances
Beorcan Stronghold’s ruins can make the two routes look similar. Use a sequence of confirmations rather than relying on one visual detail.
- First route: locked door, path away from it, right-hand bend, church- or chapel-like ruins on the left, ice-frozen hatch, frozen Beorcan, ladder visible through the ice.
- Second route: locked door, nearby small ruin, front door locked from the other side, rear approach, small wall, frozen Beorcan, underground hallway, enemy, mushroom-covered ladder.
- Shared clue: each entrance is marked by a frozen Beorcan figure. These figures are deliberate navigation markers, not decorative statues to ignore.
The first route is confirmed by the ladder visible through the frozen hatch. The second route is confirmed by the locked-from-the-other-side ruin and the mushroom-covered ladder underground. Those combinations are more reliable than the general appearance of the stonework.
Route comparison: which key should you collect first?
| Consideration | First key | Second key |
|---|---|---|
| Starting reference | Move away from the locked door | Search the small ruin near the locked door |
| Surface landmark | Church- or chapel-like ruins at a right-hand bend | Ruin with a door locked from the other side |
| Entrance marker | Frozen hatch with a frozen Beorcan; ladder visible through ice | Hatch behind the ruin beside a small wall and frozen Beorcan |
| Required traversal | Break ice and descend a short ladder | Descend, pass through an underground hallway, then climb a mushroom-covered ladder |
| Known hazard | Ice covering the hatch | Enemy in the hallway |
| Where the chest is | Small room beneath the first hatch | Room behind the locked ruin door |
| Relative complexity | Shorter and more direct | Longer sequence with a combat encounter and a distinctive ladder |
There is no stated gameplay requirement to collect one key before the other. If you want the quickest route, the first key’s ice hatch is the simpler target. If you are already investigating the ruin with the one-way locked door, use the rear hatch for the second key.

What to do if you cannot find a key chest
You keep finding the locked door but no hatch
Move away from the door and follow the path to the right-hand bend. The first hatch is not described as being directly beside the door; it is in the church-like ruins on the left at that bend. For the second key, stop approaching the ruin from the front and walk around to its rear.

The first route’s hatch is intentionally frozen over. Look for the frozen Beorcan and the top of a ladder through the ice, then break the ice. Do not confuse the frozen surface with an inaccessible doorway.
You cannot open the small ruin’s door
That door is locked from the other side by design. It is a landmark for the second route. Leave the front of the ruin, circle to the rear, and search beside the small wall for the hatch marked by the second frozen Beorcan.
The underground passage seems empty
On the second route, the hallway includes an enemy. Check that you have followed the passage far enough and have not turned back toward the entry hatch. The mushroom-covered ladder is the next major marker.
You reach a ladder but are unsure which one to climb
The second route specifically uses a ladder with mushrooms growing on it. The first route uses the short ladder immediately below the ice-covered hatch. Matching the ladder to the route prevents you from treating the two underground spaces as one connected puzzle.

Is the Beorcan’s Twinned Keys door required for the main story?
No. The cited walkthroughs describe the locked-door challenge as optional for players pursuing only the main story. You can leave the door unopened without blocking that story-focused objective.
The same guides say that valuable rewards are located beyond the door, but they do not identify the rewards. That means it is accurate to describe the area as optional and potentially worthwhile, but not to promise a particular weapon, armor piece, item, quest reward, or other named loot.
Choose based on your goal:
- Main-story-only playthrough: skip the two-key search if you do not want optional exploration.
- Completion-focused playthrough: collect both keys and open the door so you can inspect the optional area yourself.
- Exploration with limited time: take the first route when you want the shorter search; reserve the second route for when you are prepared to handle the hallway enemy and the additional traversal.
Dave Aubrey wrote in a Video Games Chronicle guide dated October 8, 2026: “The Beorcan’s Twinned Keys door is actually a completely optional challenge, and you don’t need to seek out the two keys if you’re only interested in the main story.” That statement matches the route guides’ distinction between story progression and the optional locked-door challenge.
A concise collection checklist
- Reach the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door at Beorcan Stronghold.
- For the first key, move away from the door, take the right-hand bend, and inspect the church-like ruins on the left.
- Find the frozen Beorcan and ice-covered hatch, break the ice, descend, and open the chest in the small room.
- For the second key, locate the nearby small ruin with a door locked from the other side.
- Circle behind it and find the second frozen Beorcan beside the small wall.
- Descend through that hatch, follow the underground hallway past its enemy, and climb the ladder with mushrooms growing on it.
- Open the chest in the room behind the locked door.
- Return to the Beorcan’s Twinned Key door if you want to attempt the optional challenge.
What is established—and what is not
The location evidence establishes two separate key chests near the locked door, the landmarks leading to each hatch, the ice-breaking step on the first route, the hallway enemy and mushroom-covered ladder on the second route, and the door’s optional status for main-story progression.
It does not establish numerical distances, enemy identity or statistics, a required weapon or ability for breaking the ice, the exact inventory labels of the keys, or the specific rewards behind the door. Treat those details as unknown rather than filling them in with guesses from unrelated areas or editions of the game.
