If it is missing from that list, look for it in the Featured Series or join through an invitation; Slasher can appear as seasonal featured content rather than a consistently visible job.
How to find a Slasher job
- Open the pause menu.
- Go to Online → Jobs → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Adversary Modes.
- Select an available Slasher job.
You may also be able to join from a game invitation, a featured listing on the main menu, or the Featured Series marker at Legion Square. The locations used as maps are selected through the job menu; you do not have to travel to them in Freemode to start a match. If Slasher is not listed
Check the Featured Series and the current Rockstar weekly event listing. Featured content rotates, so its absence from the job list does not establish that the mode has been removed. Rockstar’s October 2026 seasonal announcement describes 3X GTA$ and RP in all Slasher modes in the Featured Series, including the Ramius submarine variation; confirm the live listing in-game because weekly availability can change. A previous Rockstar update documented the Ramius version for October 16–November 6, 2025, in its Title Update 1.71 notes. Those dated appearances do not imply year-round availability.
How a Slasher match works
Slasher is an asymmetric Adversary Mode for 2–8 players: one player hunts as the Slasher, while 1–7 others play as the Hunted. Rockstar introduced the mode in its 2015 Halloween Surprise announcement. Match details below, including ammunition and round settings, are listed in the mode guide.

The opening hunt
The Slasher begins in darkness with a Pump Shotgun fitted with a flashlight and 40 shells, plus a Machete. On the Ramius Submarine version, the melee weapon is a Pipe Wrench. The Slasher has three minutes to find the Hunted. Hunted players begin with flashlights and must survive; using a flashlight can make a player easier to locate.
The reversal
If any Hunted players remain after three minutes, they receive shotguns fitted with flashlights and 80 shells. The hunt then turns against the Slasher. Rockstar’s Adversary Modes tips also describe the Slasher’s shotgun start and three-minute window to locate the flashlight-wielding players.

Rounds and player level
The guide lists the mode as open to any player level. Hosts can set one to four rounds to win, with two as the default.

Practical tips for each side
Playing as Hunted
- Move carefully and listen for the Slasher’s footsteps and other actions; sound can help you judge where the threat is.
- Use your flashlight when visibility matters, but weigh that against the risk of revealing your position.
- Use your knowledge of the map and radar to plan movement rather than sprinting blindly through dark areas.
- A stereo gaming headset is optional, not a requirement; audio cues can be useful, but no particular headset is needed to play.
Playing as the Slasher
- Use the shotgun flashlight to see in the dark, but do not assume every Hunted player will be visible at once.
- Listen as well as look, and use the three-minute opening window to search methodically.

The Ramius job is the submarine-set variation; its Slasher carries a Pipe Wrench instead of the Machete used in the original settings. Whether a particular variation is currently playable depends on the live job and featured listings.
