To change an HDMI setting on an LG OLED TV, press Settings on the remote, open All Settings, and follow the menu path for your TV’s webOS generation. For 4K signal compatibility, the setting is called HDMI Deep Color on newer TVs and HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color on older ones. Choose the HDMI port your device is plugged into.
Find HDMI Deep Color in your TV’s settings
LG’s menu path changes by webOS generation. Open Settings > All Settings, then follow the matching path below:

Choose whether HDMI Deep Color should be on
HDMI Deep Color can improve the picture when both the TV and connected device support it. It is not a universal fix or a requirement for every HDMI connection: LG warns that an unsupported device may not work properly with it enabled. If enabling it causes a connection problem, turn it off for that port. LG’s OLED B3 manual gives the path General > External Devices > HDMI Settings > HDMI Deep Color and advises disabling the setting for an incompatible device or connection issue. Read the OLED B3 manual.

Troubleshoot a missing 4K picture
If a connected source is not displaying 4K, LG’s guidance for this scenario is to check the cable, the setting for the port in use, and the source’s output resolution. These checks apply to the cited 4K troubleshooting case, not to every LG OLED or HDMI setup.
- Check the cable: LG’s support article says to check for HDMI version 2.0 or higher for the described 4K setup.
- Enable Deep Color on the connected port: Use the generation-appropriate menu path above and select the input the source uses.
- Check the source output: If 4K still does not appear, verify that the source is set to 2160p (60fps), as specified in LG’s article.
See LG’s 4K troubleshooting instructions. If these steps do not match your equipment, check the TV and source-device manuals for their supported formats and port capabilities.

Use SIMPLINK for HDMI-CEC device control
If you want the TV and a connected device to control functions such as power, look for SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC), not HDMI Deep Color. LG describes CEC as enabling power control between products. Its paths vary by generation:
- 2021 webOS 6.0: General > Devices > HDMI Settings > Simplink (HDMI-CEC).
- 2019 webOS 4.5: Connection > HDMI Device Settings > Simplink (HDMI-CEC).
- 2018 webOS 4.0 or earlier: General > Simplink (HDMI-CEC).
