To find a lost Samsung tablet, sign in to Samsung Find or SmartThings Find with the Samsung account linked to the tablet, then select it from the device list. A current location usually requires the tablet to be powered on, connected to a stable network, and set up for remote controls before it went missing. If it is offline or powered off, you may see only a last known location—or, on supported devices with Offline Finding enabled, a location reported through nearby Galaxy devices.
Find your tablet with Samsung Find
- On another phone, tablet, or computer, open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find and sign in with the Samsung account used on the missing Galaxy Tab.
- Choose the tablet from the device list. Review the map and any status or timestamp shown; a last known location is not necessarily where the tablet is now.
- If it may be nearby, use the available ring or location controls. If the service offers Track location and the tablet may be moving, Samsung describes updates every 15 minutes. Availability and labels can vary by device and service interface.
- If you suspect theft, do not travel to the mapped location. Samsung advises contacting the authorities and letting them retrieve the device.
What must have been set up before the tablet went missing?
Samsung’s US guidance says the tablet must be associated with a Samsung account and have remote controls enabled. For a current location, it generally must also be on and connected to a stable network. An account by itself does not guarantee that the map can show where the tablet is now.

Samsung’s current US guide names settings including “Allow this phone (or tablet) to be found,” “Send last location,” and “Offline finding.” The exact menu path and wording can differ by Galaxy Tab model and software version, so check the tablet’s settings or the relevant regional Samsung support page if you still have access to it.
What an offline or powered-off result means
Offline, but still powered on
With Offline Finding enabled on a supported Galaxy device, nearby participating Galaxy devices can detect it over Bluetooth and report its location. This depends on prior setup, compatible hardware and settings, and participating devices being nearby. It does not guarantee a live, precise, or continuously updated location. Powered off
Samsung says a powered-off device may show only its last known location. Treat that as the last location the service recorded, not proof that the tablet remains there.
Lock, track, or erase the tablet
Lock it
Samsung’s remote controls can lock the tablet. The lock flow may let you set a PIN and add an optional message or emergency contact to the lock screen. Use the controls shown for your device.

Track its location
If Track location is available, Samsung describes location updates every 15 minutes. Use it through Samsung’s service, and do not approach a location if theft is suspected.

Remote erasure removes local data and can affect your ability to recover the tablet. Samsung recommends backing up before a reset. If a Google account was registered on the tablet, Google device protection may require that account to unlock the reset device. If erasure does not work, Samsung recommends changing passwords for accounts that may be signed in. Changing your Samsung account password also signs devices using that account out.

Can Google Find Hub locate a Galaxy Tab?
Possibly. Google’s Android Help says Find Hub can locate, secure, or erase an eligible lost Android device, using encrypted recent locations and a crowdsourced network of Android devices. The tablet must meet Google’s account and setup requirements; check that it appears in your Google account before relying on this option. Find Hub and Samsung Find are separate services with different account and feature requirements.

If you think the tablet was stolen
Do not go directly to the location shown on the map. Contact local authorities and share the information they request; Samsung’s guidance is to let authorities retrieve a stolen phone or tablet. Read Samsung’s safety and recovery guidance.
