What Metal Scraps are and why they matter
Metal Scraps are a Springlands crafting material in Enshrouded. The official item information identifies three ways to obtain them: Scavenger enemies can drop them, destroyed metal objects can yield them, and some scraps appear as physical pickups in the world. That makes a Scavenger settlement more valuable than a random walk through the wilderness because one camp combines enemies, destructible clutter, containers and ground pickups.

Do not treat Metal Scraps as an ore vein. They are not obtained by equipping a pickaxe and mining a deposit. Your efficient loop is a sweep of a populated ruin: fight the Scavengers, loot their bodies, break the camp’s metal objects and boxes, open its containers, and pick up anything lying in the open.
The material supports both character progression and building. The official recipe listings include arrows, weapons, armor, tools, crafting stations and numerous furniture or decoration recipes. If you are upgrading equipment while expanding a base, a dedicated settlement run prevents ordinary exploration from consuming all of your available scraps.

Why Rookmore is the best early location
Rookmore, in the Springlands, is the clearest early-game recommendation supported by the available location guidance. It has the combination you want for a farming route: Scavenger activity and a dense concentration of ruined settlement objects that can be searched or destroyed. The Springlands information describes Scavengers as frequently appearing in ruined towns such as Rookmore and Wescott and calls them the primary source of Metal Scraps.
That does not mean every visit produces an identical haul. Enemy drops and the amount of useful clutter can vary, and no attributable source gives a verified scraps-per-minute figure. Rookmore is recommended because its layout supports a repeatable sweep, not because a fixed number of scraps is guaranteed.

What to bring before travelling
- Enough weapon durability and healing supplies to finish the Scavenger clear rather than abandoning the camp halfway through.
- Inventory space for enemy drops, container contents and scraps from destroyed objects.
- A route you can follow consistently, such as perimeter first and central buildings second, so you do not leave searchable clutter behind.
- A private solo world if you intend to test the logout-and-rejoin reset technique described below. The reported behavior is not presented as a universal multiplayer rule.
Step-by-step Rookmore farming route
- Travel to Rookmore in the Springlands. Use it as your first dedicated Scrap route when you are still working through early progression. The location is supported as a good early source because Scavengers and settlement clutter occur together there.
- Identify the active Scavenger area before breaking objects. A safe order is to note the camp’s perimeter, enemy positions and the buildings or work areas containing tables, benches, junk piles and containers. This gives you a route and reduces the chance of fighting while encumbered or surrounded by destructible objects.
- Clear the Scavengers. Defeat the enemies in the camp before conducting a detailed search. Bodies are one of the direct sources of Metal Scraps, and clearing the area lets you loot without repeatedly interrupting the sweep. The official item listing names several Scavenger variants as possible drop sources, including Hollow Reapers, Hollow Soldiers, Berserkers, Scalpers, Scrapgunners and Wolves.
- Loot every defeated body. Do not assume that only a particular weapon user or elite variant carries scraps. The listed variants cover different types of Scavenger, so inspect each body after the fight. If a run is intended to stock crafting materials, body looting is as important as breaking furniture.
- Search tables and benches. After the camp is safe, check its work surfaces and other searchable furniture. A secondary farming guide specifically identifies tables and benches in Scavenger camps as productive targets. Search methodically rather than opening only the largest containers.
- Check junk piles and containers. Search the camp’s junk piles and containers, including objects tucked inside or beside ruined structures. Container contents are part of the settlement sweep, so skipping a side room can reduce the value of an otherwise complete run.
- Destroy metal objects and boxes. Break the camp’s destructible metal clutter and boxes. The guide-supported method treats these objects as an additional Scrap source, separate from enemy drops and searchable containers. Work through each building and open area instead of stopping after the first few pieces break.
- Break linen containers when they are present. The same camp-farming guidance calls out linen containers alongside metal objects and boxes. They are worth including in the sweep because a productive settlement route is based on clearing the available destructible targets, not just mining-looking objects.
- Collect visible ground pickups. Walk the settlement after the fight and object sweep. Metal Scraps can appear as physical pickups, so look around corners, beside ruined walls, near work surfaces and along the route between buildings. A visible pickup costs only the time needed to walk over it.
- Make one final perimeter check. Before leaving, retrace the outer edge and the interiors you visited. This catches a body, container or ground item hidden behind a structure. The final check is especially useful while learning Rookmore’s layout; once you know it, you can shorten the route.
- Return only after deciding whether the route is worth repeating. Judge the run by travel time, combat risk, the number of searchable or destructible objects you cleared and the material you actually needed. There is no verified universal yield, so your own route records are more useful than an invented target number.
Which Scavengers can drop Metal Scraps?
The official Metal Scraps item page lists multiple Scavenger variants as drop sources. The practical implication is simple: clear and loot the whole camp rather than hunting one named enemy.

Can you reset a Scavenger camp and farm it again?
A secondary guide reports that, in a solo private world, logging out and rejoining can reset containers, searched junk and Scavengers. If the behavior works in your current version, it creates a repeat loop: clear and loot Rookmore, finish the object sweep, leave the area, log out, rejoin the same world and check whether the camp has repopulated and its searchable targets are available again.

- Run the complete Rookmore sweep once, including bodies, containers, junk piles, metal objects, boxes, linen containers and visible ground pickups.
- Note which containers and objects you searched or destroyed. This gives you a clear before-and-after comparison.
- Log out from the solo private world and rejoin it.
- Return to Rookmore and check the Scavengers first, then the containers and searched junk.
- If only some elements return, record that limitation and use the route only for the elements that actually reset.
- If nothing resets, stop treating logout-and-rejoin as part of your farm. Continue with normal exploration or test again after a documented game update rather than assuming the technique is broken everywhere.
Do not describe the reset as an exploit with a promised result. It is a version-sensitive technique reported by a secondary guide, and the reliable part of the strategy remains the initial Rookmore clear.
When Wescott or another ruin is the better choice
Wescott is the main alternative named by the Springlands location guidance. It is useful when Rookmore is inconvenient from your base, when you want to vary your route, or when its Scavenger activity is easier for your current equipment to handle. The broader rule is to prioritize above-Shroud ruined settlements with Scavenger activity and dense metal clutter.

The sources do not publish measured yields for these locations, so do not claim that Wescott produces a specific percentage more or fewer scraps than Rookmore. Compare them using the factors that affect your real run: travel time from your base, enemy density, combat danger, searchable containers, destructible metal objects and whether you can repeat the route without excessive risk.
How to choose the most efficient route for your character
Measure travel, not just combat
A camp that is slightly smaller can be more efficient if it is much closer to your base. Include the complete trip in your judgment: travel to the ruin, the clear, the object sweep and the return. A distant route that looks rich on paper may be inferior when it consumes more time than a nearby settlement.

Balance enemy density against your equipment
More Scavengers mean more potential bodies to loot, but they also mean more incoming damage and durability loss. If a route forces repeated retreats, it is not efficient for your current character even if the settlement contains many targets. Clear the densest safe group first and postpone a more dangerous area until your equipment can handle it.
Count every target category
When comparing camps, count the opportunities rather than guessing a yield. A useful route has several of the following in a compact area:
- Scavengers whose bodies can be looted.
- Tables and benches that can be searched.
- Junk piles and containers.
- Destructible metal objects and boxes.
- Linen containers called out by the camp-farming guidance.
- Visible ground pickups.
This checklist keeps you from choosing a camp solely because it has enemies while ignoring the object sources that make a settlement valuable.
Build a repeatable sweep
Use the same order every visit: outer enemies, inner enemies, bodies, searchable furniture, containers, destructible clutter and ground pickups. A consistent order reduces missed targets and makes it easier to compare Rookmore with Wescott. If you later test logout-and-rejoin, a repeatable sweep also makes reset changes obvious.

Fix: Move to a Scavenger settlement. The supported sources are enemies, destroyed metal objects and world pickups, not mined ore.
Looting enemies but ignoring the camp
Problem: You clear the Scavengers and leave immediately.

Breaking objects while enemies are alive
Problem: You enter the detailed search while still being attacked.
Fix: Clear the camp first, loot bodies, then conduct the object sweep. This reduces interruptions and makes it less likely that you abandon a room or miss a pickup.
Assuming every reset works
Problem: You expect logout-and-rejoin to restore every target in every world.
Fix: Test it in a solo private world, compare the camp before and after rejoining, and treat the result as version-sensitive guide-reported behavior. Do not rely on it if your world does not reset the relevant elements.
Expecting a fixed number per run
Problem: You plan around an exact scraps-per-minute promise.
Fix: No attributable source provides a verified farming-rate statistic. Track your own complete route and compare time, danger and material needs instead.
Planning Metal Scrap spending
Because Metal Scraps appear in recipes across several categories, decide whether the next run supports combat progression or construction. Arrows, weapons, armor and tools can affect your ability to survive later clears. Crafting stations and furniture or decoration can consume the same material while you are developing a base.

Before leaving for Rookmore, identify the immediate recipe or group of recipes you are preparing for and bring enough inventory space to collect more than one category of drop. After the run, spend the material deliberately rather than assuming that a single camp sweep will cover every future upgrade. The wide recipe coverage is the reason a repeatable Scavenger route remains useful after the earliest equipment milestones.

For the fastest evidence-supported early method, farm Rookmore: clear and loot every listed Scavenger, search tables, benches, junk piles and containers, destroy metal objects, boxes and linen containers, and collect the settlement’s visible scraps. Use Wescott or another dense Springlands ruin when it is safer or closer.
