Run the nearby streets and houses, kill the ordinary Huntsmen and larger melee enemies for Blood Vials, and focus on rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen when Quicksilver Bullets are the priority. Return to the lamp, reset the area, and repeat the same compact route. If you already have enough Blood Echoes, buying supplies can be faster than farming drops; if your bullet stock reaches zero, press Up to trade HP for five Blood Bullets, then heal before continuing.
The best farming route by progression
| Stage | Recommended location | Primary targets | Why use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early game | Central Yharnam lamp and surrounding streets | Huntsmen, street mobs, Scourge Beasts, Large Huntsmen, Huntsman Minions; rifle and wheelchair Huntsmen for bullets | Immediate access, short reset distance and a route that can supply both resources |
| Mid-game | The shortest lamp loop you can clear consistently | Whichever nearby enemies provide the resource you are missing | A death-free, low-healing route usually outperforms a theoretically better but dangerous run |
| Late game and DLC | Research Hall after it is unlocked | Gatling-wheelchair enemies for Quicksilver Bullets; Church Servants for Blood Vials | Higher documented ammunition drops, but access is progression-gated |
| Any stage with spare Blood Echoes | Supply purchase menu | Buy the item you need instead of waiting for drops | Can be more time-efficient when your echo balance is healthy |
Central Yharnam remains the practical default because it combines early access, a nearby lamp and enemies that cover both needs. Later locations are alternatives, not mandatory upgrades: the right route is the one you can repeat without dying or spending most of the run healing.

Central Yharnam: the repeatable early-game loop
- Spawn at the Central Yharnam lamp. Starting at the lamp keeps every reset consistent and avoids a long approach run.
- Clear the nearby street groups. Kill the Huntsmen and other mobs as you move through the adjacent streets and houses. Pick up every Blood Vial and Quicksilver Bullet drop before advancing.
- Handle bullet targets first when ammunition is the bottleneck. Rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen are the priority. Their attacks can be dangerous, so pull them into a position where you can finish them without being surrounded.
- Sweep the larger melee enemies and beasts for vials. Scourge Beasts, Large Huntsmen and Huntsman Minions are the documented Blood Vial targets in this area. Do not skip a group merely because it does not normally drop bullets if vials are what you need.
- Return to the lamp and reset. Spend a few seconds checking your inventory, then use the lamp to reload the area. Repeat the same path rather than extending the run into a higher-risk section.
When Blood Vials are the immediate problem
Stay focused on the dense Huntsman groups, Large Huntsmen, Huntsman Minions and Scourge Beasts. The aim is a reliable vial yield per reset, not a perfect clear of every enemy in the district. If one optional group repeatedly costs healing or causes deaths, leave it out; a slightly shorter loop that survives every attempt produces supplies faster over several resets.

When Quicksilver Bullets are the immediate problem
Route directly to rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen before spending time on unrelated enemies. One listed Huntsman Rifle variant is documented as dropping three Quicksilver Bullets at a 100% chance in its area (Bloodborne Wiki, page accessed 2026). Other Huntsman variants have lower listed chances, so do not assume every rifleman produces the same result. Collect the drop, finish only the safest nearby groups, and reset.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the loop profitable
- Use the lamp distance as your baseline: a route that starts and ends quickly gives more attempts per hour.
- Pick up Blood Echoes during the run. They can turn a mixed farming session into a purchase session when your balance becomes sufficient.
- Do not burn Quicksilver Bullets on routine enemies if melee attacks are safe. Reserve them for firearms, parries or encounters where the gun materially reduces risk.
- Bank your haul regularly. Carrying a large unspent echo balance into an unfamiliar extension of the route adds loss risk without improving the farm.
How to choose a safe mid-game route
There is no single mid-game loop that is best for every build or player. Compare a candidate route using the same five measurements:
- Progression access and lamp distance: can you reach it now, and how long does the approach take?
- Clear time: how quickly can you kill the target enemies without waiting for patrols or separating groups?
- Death and healing risk: how often does the route force you to heal, retreat or restart after a mistake?
- Yield per reset: count Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets separately instead of treating all drops as one score.
- Echo income: does the same loop also generate enough Blood Echoes to buy the missing resource?
Drop quantity and chance vary by enemy variant and area. The documented rifle-Huntsman result of three bullets at 100% is therefore a property of that listed variant, not a guarantee for every rifle enemy. A route that produces fewer bullets on paper can still win if it is faster, safer and repeatable. Track two or three resets rather than judging a location from one unusually good or bad drop.
Research Hall: a later ammunition option
After Research Hall is unlocked, its enemies can supplement the Central Yharnam method. A listed Gatling-wheelchair enemy has a documented drop of six Quicksilver Bullets at a 76% chance (Bloodborne Wiki, page accessed 2026). That is a stronger single-target ammunition opportunity than the lower-chance Huntsman entries, but the area is unavailable until the relevant progression and DLC access are complete.

Church Servants in Research Hall are also listed as Blood Vial drop sources. Use them when you are already in the area and need vials, rather than travelling there solely for an early-game resupply. The correct comparison is total return from the complete run: include the route to the enemies, the trip back to the lamp, healing consumed and the likelihood of losing the run.
When the Research Hall route makes sense
- You have unlocked the area and can reach the Gatling-wheelchair target without a dangerous approach.
- Your build can kill the target quickly enough that the 76% listed chance produces a better average result per reset.
- You are farming both ammunition and echoes in the same late-game session.
When to stay with Central Yharnam
- You are still in the early game or have not unlocked the DLC area.
- The Research Hall approach takes longer than your entire Central Yharnam loop.
- You are dying, using many vials or losing echoes before reaching the target.
Farm enemies or buy supplies?
Drop farming costs time but also gives Blood Echoes. Buying costs echoes and removes the need to clear another loop. Make the decision after checking your current balance and the danger of the next area.
| Situation | Better choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You have a healthy Blood Echo balance and need supplies immediately | Buy Blood Vials or Quicksilver Bullets | Purchasing can be faster than completing several drop cycles |
| You have few echoes and are near Central Yharnam | Run the lamp loop | The route supplies drops while rebuilding echoes |
| You need both resources | Farm mixed targets, then buy the shortfall | You avoid spending time chasing a rare drop for only one item |
| You repeatedly die on the chosen route | Use the shortest safer loop or purchase supplies | Lost echoes and recovery time erase a nominally higher yield |
There is no need to insist on drop farming when your echo balance already solves the problem. Conversely, spending all your echoes on a single resupply can leave you without a buffer for levelling or other purchases, so keep the next intended expenditure in mind.

What to do when you run out of Quicksilver Bullets
Bloodborne provides an emergency conversion called Blood Bullets. Press Up on the controller to sacrifice HP and create five bullets. These are made from your character’s blood rather than taken from your inventory. Use the conversion only when a firearm shot or parry is necessary and your normal stock is empty.
- Move to a safe position or finish the immediate threat first.
- Press Up once to create the five Blood Bullets.
- Heal immediately if the area remains dangerous; the conversion reduced your HP.
- Spend the temporary bullets on the encounter that requires them, then return to melee attacks or retreat.
- Restock normal Quicksilver Bullets through the lamp loop, a later Research Hall route or purchases when you have enough echoes.
Blood Bullets are a bridge, not a replacement for regular ammunition. Repeatedly converting HP while surrounded can turn a manageable fight into a death, especially if you forget to heal after the input.
Fixed pickups and one-time supplements
Iosefka’s Clinic offers useful supplies when you first reach the area, but these pickups do not replace a repeatable lamp farm. The clinic courtyard contains a ten-bullet treasure, and two Blood Vials are found inside the clinic. Brainsuckers can drop three or four Quicksilver Bullets. Collect these items when available, but treat them as a one-time boost or supplemental kills rather than an endlessly renewable route.

Troubleshooting common farming problems
The loop gives too few Blood Vials
Confirm that you are clearing the documented vial targets rather than only the riflemen. Add the larger Huntsmen, Huntsman Minions and Scourge Beasts, then measure the result over several resets. If the extra enemies consume more healing than they return, keep only the groups you can kill safely.
You are spending more bullets than you earn
Use melee attacks for routine enemies and reserve Quicksilver Bullets for firearms and parries. When farming ammunition, prioritize rifle and wheelchair Huntsmen first, collect their drops, and reset instead of firing through every street mob.

Shorten it. A death removes the current haul and can cost the time of several successful resets. Pull enemies into smaller groups, skip optional rooms and return to the lamp as soon as the required targets are dead.

You keep losing a large Blood Echo balance
Spend or bank the echoes before experimenting with a longer route. If the balance is already enough for supplies, purchase them and remove the incentive to take an unnecessary detour.
You cannot reach Research Hall yet
Use Central Yharnam. Research Hall is a progression-gated late option, not a prerequisite for efficient early-game farming.
A practical farming checklist
- Decide whether Blood Vials or Quicksilver Bullets are the limiting resource before leaving the lamp.
- For vials, include Huntsmen, Large Huntsmen, Huntsman Minions and Scourge Beasts.
- For bullets, prioritize rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen.
- Use melee attacks wherever a shot or parry is not needed.
- Collect echoes and drops, then reset at the same lamp.
- Compare the complete loop by time, deaths, healing consumed and yield per reset.
- Buy supplies when your echo balance makes purchasing faster than another farm cycle.
- Use Blood Bullets only as an emergency five-bullet conversion, and heal after paying the HP cost.
- Remember the Iosefka’s Clinic pickups as fixed supplements, not an infinite source.
- After unlocking Research Hall, test its Gatling-wheelchair and Church Servant drops against the time and risk of your established route.
Bottom line
For most players, repeat the compact Central Yharnam lamp loop: Huntsmen and larger enemies supply Blood Vials, while rifle and wheelchair Huntsmen are the ammunition targets. Optimize for safe resets rather than the highest theoretical drop chance. Purchase supplies when your Blood Echoes make that quicker, use Blood Bullets to bridge an empty gun, and consider Research Hall only after its DLC progression makes the documented six-bullet, 76%-chance Gatling-wheelchair drop practical.
