There is no guaranteed safe extraction
Extraction in ARC Raiders is a PvPvE risk-management problem. A regular extraction point can expose you to human Raiders and ARC at the same time, while another player who sounds friendly can still change their mind. The practical goal is not to make an exit risk-free; it is to avoid being surprised, retain a way out, and leave before the value of additional loot is worth more than your survival.

Embark Studios says its main extraction points “draw a lot of attention from both ARC and other players.” Epic’s guide likewise explains that using the regular controls produces a loud blaring signal. PlayStation summarizes the audio problem plainly: “the noise of battle carries.” Those warnings should shape every decision that follows.

The quick decision tree
- Is the intended point quiet and observed from cover? If not, do not begin the interaction. Move to your fallback or wait in cover long enough to determine whether the activity is passing through.
- Do you have a Raider Hatch key, and is the hatch route safer than the regular point? A hatch is generally quieter and quicker and can be placed in a lower-foot-traffic area, but the key is a limited resource. Use it when the approach itself is not more dangerous than the public exit.
- Are ARC units already alerted? Break contact, avoid the patrol, or clear the immediate machines before starting a countdown. Beginning an extraction while ARC is aggroed can turn one threat into a loud, moving fight.
- Is another Raider present? Use proximity chat or an emote if you want to propose cooperation, but keep cover, an escape route, and enough stamina to disengage. A verbal agreement is not a guarantee.
Choose an exit before your backpack is full
Read the map early
Open the map while you still have time to change direction. Mark at least one regular extraction point and a fallback that can be reached without crossing the most obvious sightline. Embark notes that the map communicates risk and that high-value areas attract more Raiders. Do not wait until you are overloaded to decide where to leave: available extractions steadily diminish as a session continues, so a route that exists early may no longer be available when you need it.

A fallback is useful only if you can actually reach it. Consider the cover along the route, likely ARC patrols, and whether a fight at the first point would leave you too injured to rotate. If the original exit becomes noisy or contested, change the geometry of the encounter by leaving rather than trying to win a predictable fight at the terminal.
Set a loot-and-risk limit
More loot is not automatically a better run. Decide what you would be happy to extract with before entering a high-value area. Once that threshold is met, move toward an exit while you still have healing, ammunition, stamina, and time. The longer you remain, the fewer extraction choices may remain and the more opportunities other players have to hear or observe you.
Arrive ready to retreat
Heal before entering the extraction zone
Enter the final approach at usable health rather than assuming you can heal during the interaction. Keep a defensive consumable for the extraction itself when possible; spending your last recovery item on a minor skirmish can leave you unable to survive a single hit during the countdown. The aim is to arrive able to take damage, break line of sight, and continue moving.
Keep stamina for the disengagement
Epic explains that sprinting drains stamina and that standing, walking, or crouching restores it. Do not sprint the entire route and arrive empty. Being caught in the open with no stamina removes your most reliable escape option, especially if a Raider appears just as you activate the controls. Walk or crouch while you are still concealed, then spend stamina on the final reposition or retreat rather than on travel that could have been slower.
Make sound information usable
Use headphones if available, keep game audio intelligible, and pause in cover before interacting. Listen for footsteps, gunfire, ARC movement, and the direction from which sound is carrying. A fight near the point may mean a player is distracted, but it can also mean that the area is already drawing more people. Audio is most useful before you expose yourself, not after the blaring extraction signal has announced your position.

Scout the approach, not only the terminal
Observe from cover
Stop short of the extraction area and inspect it from concealment. Check the obvious approach, elevated or open sightlines, and any route a player would use to watch the controls. Look for movement, recently fired weapons, dropped equipment, and ARC patrols. You are trying to answer two questions: can someone already see the interaction point, and where can you move if the first shots come?
Listen before you commit
Stay still long enough to separate background noise from a nearby player or machine. Footsteps and gunfire can reveal that the point is occupied even when the terminal itself looks empty. If you hear a fight, do not assume it will end before you arrive; a survivor may be waiting for a second player to start the extraction and expose themselves.
Rotate when the point is contested
If you see another Raider watching the controls, find a different angle or use your fallback. Forcing the countdown at a contested point gives the other player a simple defensive position and makes your timing predictable. A quiet retreat costs less than beginning an interaction that you cannot finish. Regular extraction controls create an audible alert, so nearby players can converge after activation even if they were not visible during your approach.
Manage ARC before starting the countdown
Epic says regular extraction points are regularly patrolled by ARC drones and robots and that spotting a player can alert other robots. That means an apparently empty terminal can become dangerous when a machine sees you during the interaction. When practical, clear the nearest machines or wait for their patrol to move away. If clearing them would create more noise than avoidance, stay concealed and route around them instead.
Do not start the countdown while ARC is already attacking you. An aggroed patrol can force you to turn away from the terminal, reveal your position to human players, and split your attention between the timer and incoming fire. If you trigger a machine, break line of sight first, let the situation settle, and then reassess whether the point is still worth using.

Regular point or Raider Hatch?
The choice is an exposure-versus-access decision, not a universal ranking. Embark describes Raider Hatches as relatively quiet and quick and says they can be placed in lower-foot-traffic areas. The trade-off is access: keys come from crafting, randomized loot, or vendor Shani. Embark also says one hatch can support a three-for-one squad extraction, making the key especially valuable when a full squad can use the same exit.

|---|---|---|
| Exposure | Controls make a loud signal that can attract human Raiders and ARC. | Embark characterizes it as relatively quiet and suitable for lower-foot-traffic locations. |
| Direct access cost | Embark says main points have no direct cost to use. | Requires a Raider Hatch key. |
| Speed | Requires an exposed interaction and extraction countdown. | Embark characterizes hatches as quick. |
| Availability during a session | Available extraction options steadily diminish as the session continues. | Depends on having a key and a usable hatch marker. |
| Squad use | Use the regular point according to its normal interaction rules. | Embark says one hatch can provide a three-for-one squad extraction. |
When a hatch is worth the key
Use the hatch when the key lets you avoid a high-traffic public route and the approach is itself observable from fewer angles. A hatch does not make you invisible: a player can still see you arrive, and ARC or another encounter can still interrupt the run. Check the route and the surrounding cover before treating the quieter interaction as a free pass.
When to save the key
Keep the key when the hatch is exposed, the route crosses a likely ambush, or you are carrying too little value to justify spending a scarce access item. A regular point with a clear approach can be the better choice if you can scout it, preserve stamina, and leave immediately after the interaction succeeds.
What the 40% figure does—and does not—mean
In Embark’s 2025 TT2 data, high-level players used Raider Hatches 40% of the time, which the studio said was more often than intended. That is a usage statistic, not a survival guarantee or a recommended probability for every squad. It does show that experienced players were selecting hatches frequently enough for the studio to flag the pattern.
How to deal with a suspected extract camper
There is no universal anti-camping timing window established for the game. Treat a camper as a player who has chosen the obvious geometry: the route you are expected to take, the cover you are expected to use, and the moment you are expected to interact. Your response is to make those assumptions less reliable.

Change your approach
- Approach from a less predictable angle rather than walking straight along the main path.
- Use cover to break the camper’s view of the terminal and pause before the final exposure.
- Keep a retreat route that does not lead directly back through the same sightline.
- Do not activate the controls simply to test whether someone is watching; the alert can make your position easier to attack.
Force information before committing
The ArcRaidersAI guide recommends smoke or explosive tools to force campers to reveal themselves or move. Treat that as secondary tactical guidance rather than a guaranteed recipe: item behavior and balance can change after patches. If you use a tool, do so to create a route or obtain information, not merely to make noise and announce that you are nearby.
Leave if the geometry is bad
If the camper has the only clear angle, ARC is active, and your fallback remains reachable, rotate. A failed attempt can cost health, stamina, healing, and the ability to fight the next encounter. Extraction is successful only when you leave the map; winning the first exchange at the terminal is not the same outcome.

Signal peaceful intent
Proximity chat and emotes can communicate that you do not want to fight. Epic says players can press the “Push-to-Talk (Proximity Chat)” button to ask nearby players for assistance, and it notes that players sometimes cooperate against ARC. A short, clear message such as an offer to share the area can reduce an unnecessary fight when both players prefer survival.
Keep defensive discipline
Do not stand in the open while talking, put away every escape option, or let the other player move behind you unseen. Keep cover between you and the likely firing angle, retain enough stamina to break line of sight, and avoid exposing your full inventory or route. Cooperation is voluntary, and Epic explicitly warns that a player can still betray you.
Choose a clean exit from the encounter
If the other Raider agrees to cooperate, decide who will interact first and where each person will stand without blocking the retreat. If either player stops responding, aims at you, or moves into an unexplained flank, disengage. A temporary truce is useful only while both sides continue to behave consistently.
Best Value
What to do when the extraction starts going wrong
You activate the point and hear movement
Do not automatically continue because the interaction has begun. Use cover, identify whether the sound is ARC or a Raider, and decide whether the remaining countdown is worth the exposure. If the threat has a clear line to the controls, cancel the attempt by moving away and take the fallback route rather than waiting in the same predictable position.
ARC arrives during the countdown
Break line of sight if possible and avoid fighting in the most visible part of the extraction zone. If the machine can be cleared quickly without drawing more attention, do so; otherwise, move, recover stamina, and reassess. A machine that has seen you may alert other robots, so remaining beside the terminal can compound the problem.
You are low on stamina
Stop sprinting and recover while concealed by standing, walking, or crouching, as described by Epic. Do not begin a public interaction until you can make at least one meaningful retreat. If you cannot recover without entering an exposed lane, the safer choice is to rotate before starting the countdown.
The fallback is disappearing
Extraction availability declines during a session. If your first point becomes unsafe, check the map immediately rather than assuming the fallback will remain open indefinitely. Choose the remaining route that preserves the most cover and requires the fewest noisy fights, even if it is farther away.
Squad roles for a safer public extraction
In a squad, avoid having every player stare at the terminal. One player can monitor the main approach, another can watch the opposite sightline, and the interacting player can keep enough stamina to retreat. Do not let role assignment become a stationary ambush of your own: rotate visual checks and keep a route open for everyone.
A hatch changes the squad calculation because Embark says it can provide a three-for-one extraction. If the entire squad can reach it through a low-traffic route, the key may save three players from the public signal. If the hatch route splits the group or crosses a known danger area, keeping the squad together at a scouted regular point may be less risky.
Evidence and limits behind this advice
Epic’s extraction guidance is dated October 29, 2025; Embark’s cited developer data is from July 29, 2025. PlayStation’s listing, accessed in 2026, states that the PS5 version supports up to 21 online players simultaneously. That player count describes the possible population, not the number near your particular extraction point.

Use the recommendations as decisions under uncertainty: observe, preserve options, and leave when the expected danger exceeds the value of more loot.
Quick Recap
Pre-interaction checklist
- Map checked early, with a regular point and a reachable fallback identified.
- Loot value high enough to justify the remaining exposure, but not so high that you are overloaded and slow to adapt.
- Health restored and at least one useful defensive resource retained.
- Stamina available for a line-of-sight break or retreat.
- Headphones or clear game audio, with a pause taken to listen before approaching the controls.
- Approach and alternate sightlines inspected from cover.
- Nearby ARC avoided or cleared without creating a larger fight.
- Hatch key and route evaluated against the public point’s exposure.
- Any nearby Raider treated as a possible temporary partner, never as a guaranteed ally.
- A decision made to rotate immediately if the point becomes contested.
