To save a Google Slides presentation as a PDF on a computer, open it and choose File > Print; Google says the PDF downloads automatically. To export a PNG using the documented Slides app workflow, use Android and export the current slide. Google’s cited iPhone and iPad help lists PDF and PPTX export, but not PNG.
Export a Google Slides presentation as a PDF on a computer
- Open the presentation in Google Slides.
- Select File > Print.
- If you need to adjust the printed layout, use Print settings and preview.
- In the print flow, Google says the presentation PDF downloads automatically.

Export a slide as a PNG on Android
- Open the presentation in the Google Slides Android app.
- Navigate to the slide you want to export so it is the current slide.
- Use the app’s export controls and choose PNG.
Google Docs Editors Help states that you can export “a current slide as JPEG, PNG and SVG” in its Android Slides instructions. This establishes export of the current slide, not a one-step export of the entire deck as a set of PNG files.

Can you export Google Slides to PNG on a computer?
The cited Google computer instructions do not establish a specific menu sequence for exporting a Slides presentation as PNG, or whether a desktop image-export path would create one image or images for every slide. The general File > Download guidance says to choose a file type, but does not confirm a Slides PNG option. If you need a documented in-app PNG export, Google’s Android help specifically covers the current slide.

For a developer workflow, the Google Slides API reference documents PNG thumbnail functionality for slides. That is a programmatic, per-slide option rather than an end-user menu workflow: Google Slides API: getThumbnail.
Choose PDF or PNG based on what you need
- Choose PDF to share or print a presentation as a document; the computer print workflow is the documented route.
- Choose PNG when you need a slide image. The cited Android app instructions cover the current slide, so export slides individually if you need multiple images.
- Need speaker notes or handout layout? Use the computer print preview, where Google documents layout settings including landscape handouts and one slide with notes.
Troubleshooting export problems
The PDF did not download
Confirm that you used File > Print in the presentation, rather than assuming the generic download menu has the same documented PDF behavior. If the print flow opens a preview, complete that flow and check the browser’s downloads. The cited Google presentation instructions describe the PDF as downloading automatically.

PNG is missing from the iPhone or iPad app
The cited iPhone/iPad help lists PDF and PPTX, not PNG. The cited Android instructions explicitly document current-slide PNG export. Do not assume that the same PNG option is available in the iOS app.
You need a PNG for every slide
The Android instructions establish export of the current slide only, not a batch export of the deck. For a technical workflow, review the Slides API’s per-slide thumbnail method. Google Takeout’s account availability and maximum-size restrictions concern broad Google data exports; they do not, by themselves, diagnose a failed download of a single presentation.
