TechRadar also reported Rockstar’s figure of 170 animal species, including more than 60 bird types and more than 30 land mammals, with fish and reptiles represented as well. Rockstar art executive Michael Kane described the intended ecosystem across urban and rural areas, inland and ocean waters, and wetland habitats. These details point to varied environments worth exploring, but they do not confirm wildlife-related tasks or collectibles.
A practical exploration routine for launch
Use this as a flexible note-taking method once the game is available. It is not a route proven to uncover everything, and it should not be confused with a confirmed in-game tracking feature.

- Log activities by place and type. When you encounter an activity, note its region and category—such as racing, sport, or water activity—along with how you found it. Do not assume that an activity listed in pre-release coverage appears everywhere or is available from the start.
- Revisit places under different conditions, but record observations rather than assumptions. Rockstar’s pre-release weather details describe localized, persistent weather, including showers, storms, puddles, and rainbows. No source establishes that weather, time of day, or wildlife unlocks specific activities, so only add such a requirement to your notes after verifying it in-game.
- Separate confirmed discoveries from leads. Mark something as confirmed only after you have reached or completed it in the game. Keep reported activities and environmental details in a separate “to check” list so speculation does not become a false completion requirement.
What you cannot verify before release
No available pre-release source establishes a complete hidden-activity or collectible checklist, the final map interface, map filters, or a feature that tracks what you have completed. They also do not show which content is missable, story-gated, repeatable, character-specific, limited-time, or dependent on equipment or other conditions. A definitive no-miss guide will require reliable evidence from the released game.
