Before GTA VI releases, no complete map, confirmed hidden-area list, or verified all-regions route is available. The best-supported way to prepare is to use Rockstar’s six named destinations as a coverage framework, then turn it into a verified checklist once the game is playable. Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page describes the setting as Vice City, USA, with a story extending across Leonida; its Only in Leonida destination page supplies the six region names, not an exhaustive map.
What counts as “every region” before release?
For now, “every region” can mean covering each destination Rockstar has named—not clearing every discoverable location. The official destination page introduces places and broad geographic character, but does not establish precise boundaries, all landmarks, secrets, collectibles, access requirements, or a completion counter. Treat any claim to a complete hidden-area route as unverified until it can be checked in the released game.

Rockstar’s official labels are Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga. Use that spelling for the mountain destination: a TechRadar report on Game Informer’s October 2026 coverage uses “Mount Kalaha National Park,” but Rockstar’s label is “Mount Kalaga.” Rockstar’s destination page is the basis for the region names; the spelling discrepancy is reported by TechRadar.
Start with Rockstar’s six named destinations
Use these as the top-level rows in a coverage log. The descriptions below are broad organizing cues from Rockstar’s destination presentation, not verified borders or directions.
#1 Best Overall
- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
| Destination | Rockstar’s broad cue | What to record after release |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Urban | Verified landmarks, accessible interiors, side activities, collectibles, and any unresolved spaces |
| Leonida Keys | Island destination | Verified locations and routes across the islands, plus access details confirmed in-game |
| Grassrivers | Wetlands | Verified sites and activities, with notes on spaces that remain unchecked |
| Port Gellhorn | Coastline | Verified coastal locations, activities, and any access limits established in-game |
| Ambrosia | Inland | Verified landmarks, activities, collectibles, and unresolved locations |
| Mount Kalaga | Beyond the city lights | Verified sites and activities, including any access requirements confirmed in-game |
All six labels and these broad cues come from Rockstar’s Only in Leonida page. It does not provide a full map or an exhaustive inventory for any destination.
How to build a reliable region-by-region checklist
This is a player-organizing method, not a confirmed GTA VI feature. It avoids turning guesses or fan-made pins into supposed game facts.

- Includes the complete grand Theft Auto V story experience
- Create one log section per destination. Use the six Rockstar names above so that a plausible location is not forgotten just because it falls outside a familiar city label.
- Track evidence beside each entry. Record a location only after verifying it in-game, and keep a screenshot or other reference with the entry. Separate visited locations from confirmed activities, collectibles, and areas still unresolved.
- Keep predictions separate from discoveries. If you consult a community map, label its unverified pins as predictions. Vice Atlas describes itself as an independent fan guide, not a Rockstar-affiliated source; after release, distinguish its pins from locations you have personally confirmed. Vice Atlas.
- Revisit apparent gaps rather than declaring a region complete by feel. A recorded sweep can help organize exploration, but do not treat it as a validated route or assume a region is cleared because its most visible landmarks are visited.
- Check what the game actually counts. Once playable, verify whether the map reveals explored terrain, whether access depends on story progress, whether interiors or caves count, and whether an official area or collectible counter exists. Do not assume those systems are present.
What scale and environmental detail can—and cannot—tell you
TechRadar’s October 1, 2026 report on Game Informer’s coverage describes Rockstar’s map as twice the size of GTA V’s world and quotes Rockstar North co-studio head Aaron Garbut calling it the studio’s largest world “by some degree.” That is a reported comparison, not a published area measurement or a basis for estimating exploration time. The same report quotes Garbut describing attention to rooftops, alleys, interiors, and the spaces between them; it signals design ambition, but does not confirm particular hidden locations or a method for finding them. TechRadar’s report.
The report also attributes world-variety figures to Rockstar’s Game Informer material: 170 animal species, more than 60 bird types, and more than 30 land mammals. It describes regionally varied weather and quotes Rockstar VP of art for lighting and rendering Owen Shepherd on a re-engineered system for more localized, persistent weather. These details may help explain why the regions could feel different to explore; they do not establish hidden-area markers, a completion percentage, or a requirement to find wildlife. - The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created and now packed with layers of new detail.
- Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story.
- Grand Theft Auto V also comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, the dynamic and ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe for multiple players.
GamesRadar+, reporting a remark Rob Nelson made in an IGN interview, quotes the Rockstar co-studio head saying, “The game is so big, I don’t know that there’s anybody on the team that knows all of it.” That is a comment about scale and design—not verification of any secret, its location, or how to uncover it. GamesRadar+’s report.

As of October 3, 2026, the available sources do not establish a verified count of secrets, discoverable sites, or total exploration time. They also do not provide a tested route, prove that all regions are accessible immediately, or confirm how the game tracks exploration. The official destination page is a region introduction, not a 100% completion guide.

- This Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic box.
That means there is no evidence-based reason to prescribe a particular vehicle, ability, map layer, or sweep order yet. When the game is available, compare any genuinely supported exploration approaches by coverage, time, access requirements, terrain suitability, and the chance of overlooking interiors or vertical spaces. Until those mechanics are checked in-game, keep the checklist flexible and mark unknowns honestly.
