How to Execute the Persona Team Nuke Loop in Anime Vanguards

The most reliable Persona burst sequence is to prepare Investigation Leader first, build Lunar stacks with Crescendo, satisfy Joker’s passive, activate Best Friend, and only then fire Joker’s nuke. Rest is the key Investigation Leader setup: use it before the rest of the sequence so that unit reaches its highest reported damage state. Phantom Thief and Apathetic Savior supply debuffs, control and additional burst utility, while a farm unit keeps the team funded.

This rotation is built for bosses and late waves rather than ordinary early-wave clearing. The exact values, drop rates and skill nodes are community-reported and can change with patches, so treat the numbers below as a planning baseline and confirm the live unit descriptions before spending resources.

What the Persona nuke loop is designed to do

The Persona package is a staged burst team. Instead of pressing every major ability as soon as it is available, you create several conditions, line up the team’s buffs and debuffs, and spend the largest attack at the moment a boss or late-wave target can take full damage. The sequence matters because Joker’s nuke is the payoff for preparation, not the opener.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The practical loop has six parts:

  1. Use Rest on Investigation Leader to maximize that unit’s damage state.
  2. Use another ability, then use Crescendo to build Lunar stacks.
  3. Raise Joker’s passive to its maximum condition.
  4. Activate Best Friend immediately before the nuke.
  5. Trigger Joker’s nuke while the preparation effects are still active.
  6. Repeat the setup only when the relevant skills, stacks and cooldowns are ready.

A current community progression post reports a one-time Investigation Leader nuke at 2000%, plus buffs of 100% damage and 50% critical damage for Demon Controller units. Those figures are community reports rather than independently verified official statistics. Use them to understand the intended burst ceiling, not as a guarantee that every client version has the same values.

Core lineup and each unit’s job

The recommended core is Investigation Leader, Joker, Phantom Thief and Apathetic Savior. You still need a farm unit, so the practical roster usually requires at least one additional slot. If the map or mode demands crowd control, reserve another slot or replace a nonessential damage source rather than breaking the Persona setup.

Unit Primary job in the loop Timing or interaction to remember
Investigation Leader Opening damage setup, team support and reported one-time nuke Use Rest before the other preparation actions. A community report lists a 2000% nuke and buffs of 100% damage plus 50% critical damage for Demon Controller units.
Joker Final burst damage Build the passive to its maximum condition, activate Best Friend, then fire the nuke.
Phantom Thief Demon Controller damage and debuff pressure A community description reports Rupture, slow, Overshield removal, a first-placement interaction and a nuke with a reported 60-second cooldown.
Apathetic Savior Support and control Reported tools include buffs, debuffs, Repulse, Slow and time-stop, with two familiar slots.
Farm unit Upgrade funding Place and upgrade it early enough to finance the Persona units without consuming the slot needed for control.

Phantom Thief’s reported first-placement interaction can place another Demon Controller, which may help you fit the core into a tight deployment plan. Confirm the current placement rule in the unit’s in-game description: interactions of this kind are especially vulnerable to balance changes.

Requirements and acquisition targets

There is no single universal unlock checklist established for every version. The available progression information points to dungeon and raid activity, with specific Lunar Bridge floors associated with two of the units. The following figures are community-reported and should be checked against the live drop table before you commit stamina, tickets or a farming schedule.

Target Reported location Reported chance or status How to use it
Phantom Thief Lunar Bridge Floor 9 10% community-reported chance Demon Controller burst, Rupture, slow and Overshield removal.
Apathetic Savior Lunar Bridge Floor 11 10% community-reported chance Support, debuffs and crowd control around the nuke window.
Investigation Leader Persona trio progression Acquisition route varies by the current progression system Rest setup, reported Demon Controller buffs and a one-time nuke.
Joker Persona team requirement Current route and rate are not established by the available progression notes Final nuke after passive and Best Friend preparation.

Before farming, open each unit’s current acquisition panel and note the floor, mode, pity or exchange rules shown there. A displayed rate can be changed without changing the unit’s name, and a community post may describe an earlier event or progression season. Treat the 10% figures as planning estimates only.

Pre-run checklist

Use this checklist before entering a boss or late-wave attempt:

  • Confirm that Investigation Leader, Joker, Phantom Thief and Apathetic Savior are actually available on the account and usable in the selected mode.
  • Reserve one slot for farming. Decide in advance which unit will fund upgrades so you do not sell a Persona unit while waiting for the nuke.
  • Reserve crowd control if the map has leaks, shielded enemies or a boss that must be held in place. Jotaro is the suggested control alternative when you cannot use Luffy safely.
  • Check whether your plan depends on Phantom Thief applying Wounded. Do not bring Luffy into that plan: a current discussion warns that Luffy removes the Wounded effect supplied by Phantom Thief.
  • Read the current ability text for Rest, Crescendo, Best Friend and Joker’s passive. Look for duration, stack caps, placement limits and whether an effect is consumed on use.
  • Identify the boss wave or target where the nuke will be spent. A one-time nuke has more value when it removes a dangerous phase than when it merely speeds up an easy wave.
  • Set a mental order for your clicks. The loop is timing-sensitive, so improvising after the boss arrives can cause Best Friend or a stack-building ability to expire before Joker fires.

Step-by-step Persona burst rotation

1. Establish your economy and safe board

Start with the farm unit and enough early damage to prevent leaks. Do not rush every Persona upgrade if doing so leaves you unable to fund the next damage breakpoint. The objective is a stable board that lets you build the burst package before the boss reaches the damage window.

Place control where it protects the setup area rather than where it steals the boss from your damage range. If the map’s path has multiple entrances, prioritize the lane that will carry the boss through your Persona units. Apathetic Savior’s reported Repulse, Slow and time-stop tools can help, but save the strongest control for the approach to the nuke target instead of spending it on trivial enemies.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Place Investigation Leader and use Rest first

When Investigation Leader is ready, use Rest before Crescendo, Joker’s passive preparation or the final nuke. The current recommended wording is to use Rest “to get max dmg” from Investigation Leader. In practice, that means Rest is the first deliberate action in the burst sequence, not a recovery button pressed after the nuke.

Watch the unit’s status panel after activating Rest. If the client shows a timer, stack, stance or damage indicator, wait until the intended state is visible before moving to the next action. Do not assume that merely owning the ability grants the maximum effect; the community recommendation specifically places Rest before the other setup actions.

3. Use another ability, then Crescendo

After Rest has established Investigation Leader’s damage state, use another available ability as required by your current kit and map situation, then activate Crescendo. The purpose is to build the maximum Lunar stack before Joker’s nuke. The sequence reported by players is “use any ability and crescendo to get max lunar stack,” so do not fire Joker while the Lunar meter is still short of its cap.

Use the intervening ability for a real tactical reason: remove a shield, slow an approaching wave, or apply the debuff your version of the kit requires. Avoid spending a long-cooldown control skill solely to fill time if the boss is not yet in danger. The nuke window should contain the effects that improve damage, not a trail of prematurely consumed cooldowns.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Maximize Joker’s passive

Joker’s passive is the next gate. Build it to the maximum condition shown in the live client before you press the nuke. Because the available notes do not establish the exact trigger, count or duration for that passive, use the unit panel rather than relying on an old video or a remembered rotation.

There are two common timing errors here. The first is firing at a nearly full passive and losing the final increment of damage. The second is completing the passive too early, then allowing its timer or state to lapse while waiting for the boss. If the passive has a visible timer, delay the final trigger until the target is entering the intended damage area.

5. Activate Best Friend immediately before the nuke

Press Best Friend after the Lunar stacks and Joker’s passive are ready, not several actions earlier. The community recommendation explicitly says to use Best Friend before nuking to increase damage. Treat it as the final pre-nuke button: once it is active, minimize clicks that could consume time or change the target.

Check the boss’s debuff and shield state before activating Best Friend. If the target has an Overshield that Phantom Thief can remove, or if Rupture must be applied first, complete that preparation while preserving the Best Friend window. The exact order of debuff application can vary with the current ability text; the non-negotiable part of the reported loop is that Best Friend is active when Joker fires.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Fire Joker’s nuke

With Best Friend active, trigger Joker’s nuke on the boss or the late-wave target selected during planning. Avoid retargeting at the last second unless the original target has died or become invulnerable. If the nuke is one-time or otherwise long-cooldown in your version, spending it on a low-health elite is usually less valuable than removing a boss phase, but the correct choice depends on the map’s fail condition.

Record what happened in the run: whether the boss was in range, whether a shield blocked part of the hit, and whether Best Friend and the passive icons were still lit. This simple check distinguishes a rotation problem from a stat or placement problem without requiring you to change the whole team.

7. Rebuild only when the next burst is possible

After the nuke, return to ordinary wave control and economy. Do not repeatedly press setup skills just because they are available if the next meaningful target is not close. Phantom Thief’s community-reported nuke cooldown is 60 seconds, so a second burst plan must account for that reported delay; verify the actual timer in your client.

Skill-tree allocation without a confirmed Persona node map

A complete official Persona-specific node map and exact costs are not established here. Do not copy an Unbound build as if it were a Persona requirement. A current Anime Vanguards tower guide demonstrates a damage-first ordering for an Unbound autoplay build: Loner → Ultimate Power → Amplifier → Max Output. That order is useful as a general principle—take broadly useful damage improvements before niche conveniences—but it is not proof that the same nodes, costs or order exist in the Persona tree.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use this process when allocating Persona points:

  1. Open the live Persona tree and identify nodes that directly affect burst damage, critical damage, cooldowns or Demon Controller support.
  2. Prioritize nodes that improve the units you will field in every run, rather than a conditional node that only works with a unit you rarely deploy.
  3. Compare the node’s actual wording with your intended loop. A cooldown reduction is valuable only if it changes when the boss-window ability becomes available; a general damage node may help every wave.
  4. Spend a small allocation, test the status panel and damage behavior, then continue. This avoids building around a tooltip that was changed in a patch.
  5. Use the tree’s refund function when the map, mode or patch changes your priority. Skill points are reported as refundable, so you can test a damage-first arrangement without treating the first allocation as permanent.

Keep a screenshot or written record of the nodes that produced a successful run. When a patch changes a name or effect, you can compare the new tooltip to the old plan instead of guessing which part of the rotation failed.

Team construction and slot decisions

Keep the four-unit burst core when possible

Investigation Leader, Joker, Phantom Thief and Apathetic Savior cover the preparation, final hit, debuff pressure and control roles. Removing one can lower the burst ceiling or make the team less stable, so first look for savings in placement and economy rather than immediately cutting a core unit.

Protect the economy slot

A nuke team that cannot afford its upgrades never reaches its theoretical damage. Use a farm unit early, then time its upgrades around the cost of the next Persona breakpoint. If the map gives unusually generous starting income, you may be able to delay a farm upgrade; if it is restrictive, do not interpret a failed nuke as a unit failure until you have checked whether the team was under-upgraded.

Choose control without breaking Wounded compatibility

When Phantom Thief’s Wounded effect is part of the plan, avoid Luffy because a current discussion says Luffy removes Wounded. Use Jotaro when you need crowd control instead, or use Apathetic Savior’s reported control tools if they cover the map’s timing. This is a compatibility decision, not a universal ranking: a map that does not need Wounded may have different priorities.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use familiars and memoria deliberately

Apathetic Savior is described as having two familiar slots. The available notes do not establish the current familiar or memoria effects, so select them from the live descriptions according to the problem you are solving: burst damage, survivability, control uptime or economy. Do not assume that filling both slots automatically improves the nuke; confirm that the effects apply to the units and damage type in your rotation.

Common failure modes and fixes

Joker’s nuke looks weak

  • Check that Rest was used before the rest of the preparation rather than after the nuke.
  • Confirm Lunar stacks reached the displayed maximum.
  • Verify Joker’s passive was at its maximum condition and had not expired.
  • Look for the Best Friend icon immediately before firing.
  • Check whether an Overshield or invulnerability phase reduced the hit.
  • Confirm the target was inside the intended range and had not moved outside a placement zone.

The boss survives despite a successful sequence

Separate execution from capacity. If every status icon was active but the boss still survived, the issue may be unit level, upgrades, skill-tree allocation, critical variance or a patch-adjusted value rather than the order itself. The community-reported 2000% Investigation Leader figure and other percentages are not a promise of a fixed result on every account.

Phantom Thief’s debuff is missing

Check for Luffy first if Wounded is part of your plan. Then confirm Phantom Thief’s placement, target eligibility, debuff duration and whether another unit’s effect replaced or removed the status. If the current description has changed, follow that wording instead of an older rotation.

The control plan collapses before the nuke

Move control coverage earlier on the path, reserve Apathetic Savior’s Repulse, Slow or time-stop for the dangerous approach, and consider Jotaro when a dedicated crowd-control button is required. Do not spend every control cooldown on routine waves and expect it to be available for the boss.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The team cannot afford the final upgrades

Revisit farm timing and placement before removing a core Persona unit. A stable economy can increase real damage more than a theoretically stronger but under-upgraded substitute. If the map requires two control units, accept that the burst ceiling may be lower and plan the nuke for a later, better-funded wave.

Choosing between Persona burst approaches

Use the following comparison to decide how much preparation your map can support. These are decision axes, not independently measured rankings.

Approach Burst ceiling Setup time Cooldown dependence Crowd-control coverage Wounded/debuff compatibility Economy cost
Full four-unit Persona loop Highest when all reported buffs, stacks and passive conditions are active Longest, because Rest, Crescendo, Joker’s passive and Best Friend must be sequenced High for one-time or long-cooldown nukes Uses Apathetic Savior and any dedicated control slot Preserves Phantom Thief interactions if Luffy is excluded Requires a farm slot and enough income for four core units
Persona core with an added control unit Lower if a damage or support slot is displaced Similar preparation with safer boss handling Still high for the nuke Stronger on maps with leaks or forced movement Can retain Wounded if the added control unit does not remove it More placement and upgrade pressure
Early-wave damage-first setup Lower burst ceiling Shorter Less dependent on the final nuke Depends on the substitute units May not use Phantom Thief’s debuff package Often easier to fund, but it is not the full Persona loop

Choose the full loop when a boss phase justifies a deliberate setup. Choose the safer control-heavy version when a leak or movement mechanic is the primary threat. Use a simpler damage plan when the map ends before the Persona conditions can be built; forcing a long rotation into a short stage wastes the team’s main advantage.

How to keep the rotation current

Anime Vanguards unit kits, drop tables and skill trees are patch-sensitive. Before using exact numbers, open the official changelog and the in-game ability panels. Recheck five items after an update:

If a tooltip conflicts with an older community rotation, follow the current in-game text and adjust the order accordingly.
