To keep a Bengali-language video feed live on YouTube, encode the audio and video using a YouTube-supported live-stream setup, and handle Bangla text separately as Unicode captions or correctly rendered on-screen text. Bengali does not require a special video codec. For an always-on channel, this guide treats “always-on” as a continuous YouTube Live stream using a scheduled program or looped playlist—not a conventional video upload.
Set up the live stream: video, audio and bitrate
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 as supported options. For a straightforward baseline, use H.264 video with constant bitrate (CBR) and AAC audio, then select a resolution and frame rate that your encoder and YouTube ingestion route support and your upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. Its guidance allows frame rates up to 60 fps and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. The figures are YouTube’s published H.264 ingest guidance, accessed in 2026; they are not guaranteed quality levels or universal upload-speed targets. YouTube recommends running an upload speed test. As a practical precaution, allow additional network headroom rather than planning to use every bit of measured upload capacity for the stream.

Use 720p if its detail is sufficient for the program and it is easier for your connection and encoder to sustain. Choose 1080p when the extra detail matters and the source, encoding system and upload link can maintain the corresponding bitrate. A 60 fps stream can represent fast motion more smoothly than 30 fps, but requires a supported encoding and ingestion path; use the table’s separate 60 fps values for H.264 rather than assuming the 30 fps target applies.

Choose a codec the full delivery path supports
YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 for live encoding, but compatibility depends on the encoder and ingestion route as well as YouTube. H.264 is a practical baseline for a simple setup. There is no universal codec winner: consider the compatibility of your complete delivery path and the bitrate and quality needs of the program. The bitrate table above is specifically for H.264.
Test the continuous stream before relying on it
Continuous operation is an operations problem as well as an encoding problem. Settings cannot guarantee 24/7 uptime. The right recovery plan depends on the source, encoder, hardware, network and streaming service arrangement; the official guidance cited here does not prescribe a complete redundancy or automatic-restart design.

- Prepare a representative program. Use a sample with the movement and audio expected in the real show. A static test image or silent clip may not expose the same problems.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal. Verify that YouTube receives the stream and that the selected resolution, frame rate, audio and text look and sound as intended.
- Watch Live Control Room stream health. YouTube’s diagnostics include video starvation, which indicates that not enough video is arriving for smooth streaming, and warnings about GOP/keyframe intervals that are too long. See the YouTube Live API stream-health documentation.
- Plan how you will notice and respond to interruptions. Decide who or what monitors the stream and what action is appropriate if the source, network or YouTube connection fails. Do not infer an automatic restart or failover capability from codec settings alone.
Keep Bangla captions and on-screen text readable
Video encoding and Bangla text encoding are different tasks. A valid video stream can still show broken subtitles if text is not saved as Unicode or if the rendering path fails to shape Bangla characters properly. Unicode 16.0 identifies the script as Bengali (Bangla) and assigns it the range U+0980–U+09FF. Some Bangla vowel forms that look visually composite are encoded as single Unicode characters; preserve the text as Unicode rather than manually decomposing characters. Unicode Standard Version 16.0

For viewer-selectable captions, prepare an SRT or SBV file in plain UTF-8 and upload it through YouTube’s caption workflow. YouTube describes caption files as timed text; basic SRT and SBV do not support recognized style markup. Check the timing and Bangla text before relying on captions in a long broadcast. Burned-in captions: preview the rendered picture
Burned-in captions become part of the video image, so viewers cannot switch them off or edit their display. They can provide consistent placement, but require rendering the text into the picture. Use a font with Bangla glyph coverage and a renderer that supports the shaping required by the actual text. Preview joined consonants, vowel signs, punctuation and line breaks at the final video resolution. A font file alone does not guarantee correct shaping in every rendering chain. FFmpeg documents font-family selection for relevant subtitle-rendering paths; consult its filter documentation and rehearse with the output you will actually stream.
Use RTMP/RTMPS by default; treat HLS as a separate setup
RTMP/RTMPS is the straightforward default in YouTube’s encoder guidance. Do not apply HLS requirements to an RTMP setup. If you need HLS ingestion, YouTube specifies M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, closed GOPs, HTTPS transport and media playlists rather than master playlists. HLS is segment-based and usually has higher latency than RTMP- and WebRTC-based ingestion. Follow the distinct requirements in YouTube’s HLS ingestion guide.

Keep copyright and monetization separate from encoding
Correct encoding does not establish that you have permission to use the video, music, artwork or other material in the stream, and it does not guarantee monetization. Check rights for each element in a looped program before broadcasting. YouTube’s reused-content and monetization assessment is separate from whether a stream is technically valid; do not assume that simply looping material makes it eligible. Review the applicable rules in YouTube Studio and make sure the content and rights fit your intended use.
