On a PS5 Pro, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and switch on Enhance PSSR Image Quality. PlayStation says the option is on by default, so check its current state before changing it. It is available only on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group.

Turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality

  1. From the PS5 Pro home screen, open Settings.
  2. Select Screen and Video, then Video Output.
  3. Choose Enhance PSSR Image Quality and enable it if it is off.

PlayStation’s PS5 resolution support page lists the option for the CFI-7000 model group and says it is on by default. The PS5 Pro is the hardware prerequisite; no accessory or additional purchase is needed if you already own one.

What the setting does—and what it does not do

The option applies to PS5 Pro games that support PSSR; it does not add the feature to every game. PlayStation describes PSSR as improving image stability and clarity in fine details, but says results vary by title. Check the current official PS5 Pro game list for examples and support updates. Its listed Enhanced PSSR titles include Resident Evil Requiem, SILENT HILL f, SILENT HILL 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, Control, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Nioh 3, Rise of the Ronin, Crimson Desert, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Cyberpunk 2077; the list can change as titles receive support.

Compare the setting in a supported game

To judge the effect for yourself, compare the same scene in a supported game with the option on and off. Look for image stability during motion, clarity in fine details, and unexpected visual effects. A change may be more noticeable in one game than another, so do not assume the same result across the library.

Turn PSSR image enhancement off

Return to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality and disable the option. PlayStation recommends turning it off if a supported game produces unexpected visual effects on a monitor or another display. Mark Cerny, PS5 and PS5 Pro lead architect, announced that an upgraded version of PSSR would roll out globally to PS5 Pro players; Sony’s guidance is to disable the option if visual effects are unexpected. Read the PlayStation Blog announcement dated March 16, 2026 for details.
