You can start watching League of Legends esports without playing League: open the official LoL Esports schedule, choose an upcoming match or event, and use its current broadcast link. Check the local start time and whether the match is a best-of-one, best-of-three, or best-of-five. For context, keep track of the teams, stage, and series score; you do not need to learn every champion or tactic before you begin.
Where can you watch League of Legends esports live?
Start at the official LoL Esports schedule. It lists leagues, fixtures, results, and event stages, and links to broadcasts. Riot says the platform embeds Twitch or YouTube players; which feeds are available can vary, so check the current league or event page rather than relying on an old link.

- Open the official schedule and find a match marked upcoming.
- Check the listed start time against your time zone, then note the league or event, stage, teams, and series format.
- Open the event’s current broadcast link. If several feeds are offered, pick one in a language you understand and compare how much explanation it gives.
The schedule is enough to begin watching online; no special physical product is required.
How does the LoL esports season work?
Regional leagues are the foundation of the season. In Riot’s 2026 handbook, the broad calendar runs through Split 1, First Stand, Split 2, MSI, Split 3, and Worlds. The broad regions are Americas, EMEA, Korea, China, and Asia-Pacific; the handbook lists six league labels—LCS, CBLOL, LEC, LCK, LPL, and LCP—so regions and leagues are not interchangeable counts. See the 2026 League of Legends Esports Season Handbook.

Regional competitions determine which teams advance to international events: Split 1 leads into First Stand, Split 2 into MSI, and Split 3 into Worlds. A regional match is a good choice if you want to follow a league and its recurring team stories; an international event puts teams from different regions together. Formats and styles differ by league, so use that league’s page to confirm the format of a particular match.
What should you watch first if you are new?
Choose any upcoming match that fits your schedule. A best-of-one is a single game; a best-of-three or best-of-five is a series that can continue over several games. You can follow the series score and notice what changes from one game to the next without understanding every strategic decision.
It helps to know that the main broadcast is not designed as a complete tutorial. Riot President of Esports John Needham wrote in 2023 that broadcasts spend little time explaining fundamentals and focus more on strategic detail. He said gaming influencers and streamers can be better at explaining fundamentals, which is one reason Riot opened broadcasts to co-streaming. If available for the match and in your language, a co-stream may offer more beginner explanation. Check that it is authorized and current for the event; no particular co-streamer is endorsed here. Read Needham’s Riot article on the future of esports broadcasts.
- Keep the schedule open to check who is playing, what stage it is, and the series format.
- Follow a few straightforward questions: who is ahead in the series, which team is trying to advance, and what appears to change between games?
- Let unfamiliar plays pass without pausing to decode everything. The match and score give you a useful thread to follow while you learn.
What is Worlds, and when is Worlds 2026?
Worlds is the season’s final international tournament. As of October 7, 2026, Riot’s schedule lists Worlds 2026 for October 15 through November 14. Riot’s March announcement gives this stage schedule:
Rank #3
| Stage | Dates | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| Play-In | October 15–18, 2026 | Riot Games Arena, Los Angeles |
| Swiss stage | October 23–26 and October 28–31, 2026 | Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen, Texas |
| Knockout stage | November 3–8, 2026; quarterfinals November 3–6 and semifinals November 7–8 | Allen, Texas |
| Grand Final | November 14, 2026 | Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York |
Riot’s event update says the 2026 field has 19 teams. The Play-In is a four-team, double-elimination best-of-five bracket, and one team advances to Swiss. That explains why some teams begin the tournament earlier than others. Dates and venues are from Riot’s 2026 MSI and Worlds dates and venues announcement; check the schedule for current fixtures and times.
MSI 2026 ran June 28–July 12 at Daejeon Convention Center II in South Korea, according to the same announcement. Those dates have passed; consult the schedule for events that are currently upcoming.

Can you get drops for watching?
Do not assume rewards are active or guaranteed. Riot’s detailed LoL Esports Drops Guide covers the 2024 season: it said logged-in viewers watching live on LoLEsports.com could have a chance to receive drops, while VOD viewing did not count, and eligibility could vary by region and event. That does not establish that drops are available for Worlds 2026.

That campaign has ended. For any current event, read its reward notice and confirm the dates, sign-in steps, eligible feed, and regional terms before expecting a reward.

Should you watch online or attend in person?
Online viewing is the simplest way to start: use the schedule and linked broadcast. Attending a live event is optional and depends on location, travel, and ticket availability. Riot’s 2026 announcement names the Worlds venues and ticket-sale arrangements, but ticket details can change; confirm them on the official event page before making plans.
