To filter explicit results in Safari, open Google’s SafeSearch settings and select Filter. Safari has no universal SafeSearch switch: this setting applies to Google Search only, not other search engines or websites. If the control is locked, a parent, school, device administrator, or network may manage it.
Turn on Google SafeSearch in Safari on iPhone or iPad

Return to Google Search. The filter applies to searches made on Google; it does not change Safari’s settings for other search engines.

Google also offers Blur and Off. Choose based on the level of filtering you want:

Use SafeSearch with Google on a Mac
Google SafeSearch is managed in Google Search settings in a browser. Safari’s settings on Mac let you choose its search engine and adjust related search behavior, but they are not a universal SafeSearch control. Open Google’s SafeSearch settings in Safari to manage the setting for Google Search. The exact Safari and macOS interface can vary by version.
Why is SafeSearch locked?
A lock on Google’s SafeSearch page means the setting is managed and cannot be changed from that control. Google says management may come from a parent, school, device administrator, or network; some public Wi-Fi networks enforce SafeSearch. Check the explanation shown on the settings page to see what applies.

SafeSearch and Apple Screen Time are different
Google SafeSearch filters results on Google Search. Apple Screen Time’s web-content restrictions are a separate, device-level control that can limit website access. Changing one does not turn the other on or off. If your goal is to restrict which sites can be visited, review Apple’s instructions for setting web content restrictions in Screen Time.

Google Search Help states that “SafeSearch only works on Google Search. It doesn’t affect content on other search engines or websites.” To filter results from another search provider, look for that provider’s own settings; SafeSearch will not filter the pages someone opens from search results.

Google notes that available controls can vary by country or territory and that SafeSearch may be managed by an account, device, or network. Interface labels may also change over time.
